Day 895 of Giving Thanks

He took the cup... He took the bread...

He took the punishment for me. O' LORD, how great is Your plan, how great is the deed. My heart breaks to know that because of me Jesus endured more than humanly possible.

“God, I will keep the special promises I made to you. I will give you my thank offering. You saved me from death. You kept me from being defeated. So I will serve you in the light that only the living can see.” ~Psalm 56:12-13 (Easy to Read Version)

The words are indescribable for me. He has done an amazing work in my life, in me and with those I love.

"After taking a cup and giving thanks, he said, “Take this and share it among yourselves. I tell you that from now on I won’t drink from the fruit of the vine until God’s kingdom has come.” After taking the bread and giving thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way, he took the cup after the meal and said, “This cup is the new covenant by my blood, which is poured out for you." Luke 22:17-20 (Common English Bible)

Before He rose, He told.

The only way to see the truth is by reading the truth. We must be in the Word to know His word for each of us.

It is when I decided to believe through my actions, what I already knew deep in my heart, that my life was truly His. I pray daily that I never see the days before the LORD again. I pray for strength and courage to be in His will and to walk His path for my life.

We have worked on our house continuously since we purchased it, and it has truly transformed. Yesterday, as I relaxed for a while, I looked around at all we have done, while knowing that we have much more to do, yet realized that's how God must look at each of us. Although much has been completed in us, He still has more to do and we have so much to learn. Isn't it a wonderful thing to know that through His work, we are always worked on and one day will be perfected, but all we need has already been accomplished?

Thank You for being here for my every waking moment; as I go through each day and settle in to rest.

Thankful for this remarkable opportunity daily to worship my King, and share with others the amazing love I have been freely given. Would you join me?

Day 894 of Giving Thanks

God is revealing much...

Thank You LORD for equipping me, and revealing all that You are doing in my life.

We have to know our gifts, to fully expose and use God's strength and power. God is revealing much...

My gifts: Relating to others, so they can see what they can do to witness to others. The gift of helping others to listen, to remove the blocks to healing and trusting God. I believe, that as Christians, we are already equipped with all the power and strength to heal, we just have to learn how to “think” according to God, “believe” according to God, “trust” according to God.

Every day I write, I am amazed at how little I have to work at it. There are days when the words fly across the keyboard, and I actually have to read what is on the screen, because I have no idea what the Spirit shares. Thank You Father for using all the ways I need to learn to teach me. Thank You for giving me others to reveal Your messages, but mostly for Your Word and Your counsel.

“God, I will keep the special promises I made to you.  I will give you my thank offering. You saved me from death.   You kept me from being defeated.  So I will serve you in the light that only the living can see.” ~Psalm 56:12-13 (Easy to Read Version)

The only way to see the truth is by reading the truth. We must be in the Word to know His word for each of us.

We have worked on our house continuously since we purchased it, and it has truly transformed. Today, as I relaxed for a while, I looked around at all we have done, while knowing that we have much more to do, yet realized that's how God must look at each of us. Although much has been completed in us, He still has more to do and we have so much to learn. Isn't it a wonderful thing to know that through His work, we are always worked on and one day will be perfected, but all we need has already been accomplished?

I am learning every day, and what I have learned well is to always go to the cross for everything; to remember often why I am who I am because of whose I am.

True repentance only comes when we can understand His grace. We understand His grace when we know how much He loves us - just look at the work on the cross, the depth of love He has is immeasurable, incomprehensible and unequaled. This is remarkable, I am sure you agree.

Remarkable is one of my favorite words when talking about the LORD.... yes, He deserves all our praise and all the credit for all that is good.

Remarkable is what my life has become, in my eyes, as well as His, but it’s not from my doing, only His. I am learning to give all things to God, to trust that He has my life in His hands. Let me not fret, worry or be fearful as I step in to every day. Let me be in line with His will and desire for my days. Let me rejoice, be joyful and hopeful.

"Rejoice in the Lord always [delight, gladden yourselves in Him]; again I say, Rejoice! Let all men know and perceive and recognize your unselfishness (your considerateness, your forbearing spirit). The Lord is near [He is coming soon]. Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God.” ~Philippians 4:4-9 (Amplified Bible)

Day 893 of Giving Thanks

As I sit in one of my favorite spots, sipping a latte, I am comforted greatly in my heart knowing that I have a helper, protector and teacher with me always. As I sit taking in all my surroundings, watching people, hearing bits and pieces of others’ lives through their words, I realize that my internal conversations have greatly changed from times before. Much of my life was spent comparing, wondering, “What if I had done this, followed that pursuit”, rather than dwelling in the possibilities that this path is the one with all the potential. He answers those who talk to Him, who seek Him and trust Him.

I love my life… the daily proposition of possibilities. I have so learned to savor much, and drink in all that God has for me.

It's not about the daily mantras or the spoken word of others, it is all about the Holy Spirit moving your every step, inviting you closer to the LORD, correcting what is not of God, encouraging what is God's, whispering "yes" when appropriate, and "seek Me" more when we are not hearing Him. Step in faith, and know that is only possible with God in charge.

Yesterday, traditionally a day of worship, and I had a thought. Wouldn't it be amazing if we all woke up every day and made every day the day of worship? Wouldn't it be great if those of the world saw true change in those of the church? That every moment we would reflect the work of Christ in our lives? Shine hope and joy no matter what is going on around us?

Sometimes it's a matter of ignoring bad behavior, and reveling in the good when it comes to an unbelieving spouse. That's the case for me anyway. When the "rumblings of the enemy" begin, I have to focus inward, to the LORD in me, rather than outward which is the enemy surrounding.

I have started to do this, and in the middle of the attack, I internally plead with the LORD and rebuke Satan's attempts, while praising the LORD's work thus far in my relationship.

Father, let me hear You clearly now. I don't want to be deceived or distracted or detoured from what you have for me. Help me to see all the doors that are open FOR ME, all the openings that are set aside for me. Let me honor You through this life. Let me hear every detail, and let every moment be Yours. He answers those who talk to Him, who seek Him and trust Him.

I see that "as God's people", we expect to keep asking God to do this and that for us... And although His grace is free, salvation is assured and comes without any work on our part, we are free now and I know that it is God's desire for us to give to others. I believe when we spend so much time asking God to fix and do, we miss on the blessings of us doing for others, which will ultimately remedy our own needs and wants through satisfaction of work. A work that is given out of gratitude that we are saved, loved and favored.

The true gift is learning to live today, be grateful for what we already have and watch God show us what our true needs and desires are for our life, according to His will.

Today, rather than asking God to do, ask God who you can give to.

There are so many who are "sad" and live a life of hopelessness. But, we can all have a happy ending. If you are a believer, you have hope in knowing that the LORD is always available. We can all choose how to move forward, even with a past that is filled with hurt and pain, abuse and dysfunction. Jesus did all the heavy lifting, we just have to believe He did it for us. I have a very different approach to healing. I believe we are never to dwell in the past, and always live in the moment... with all the hope that Jesus has given us.

I am grateful for His Word, and today, it is Galatians.

Live by the Spirit and Reject the Deeds of the Flesh
“But I say, live by the Spirit, and you will never carry out the desire of the flesh. For the flesh desires against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh, for these are in opposition to one another, so that whatever you want, you may not do these things. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.“Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are sexual immorality, impurity, licentiousness, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, factions, envy, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, things which I am telling you in advance, just as I said before, that the ones who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self control. Against such things there is no law.  Now those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh together with its feelings and its desires.” ~Galatians 5:16-25 (Lexham English Bible)

Day 892 of Giving Thanks

I have had a thought running through my head for a couple hours now, and as I tried to figure out what it meant, I figured I better just start writing and let it unfold. Actually, the word that has been filtering through my mind is “unfold” and the quick picture that popped into my head was that God works to meticulously fold-in all the details of our life – the example I see is perfectly folded laundry. A shirt perfectly creased, pressed and prepared. That is what He does. He prepares us perfectly and helps us look so much better by getting out all the wrinkles and pressing us to perfection. As I thought of my word again, “unfold”, I think of all we do to undo what He does. Sometimes out of ignorance, many times out of disobedience and others just laziness. But there is one thing for sure, every time... God is faithful and desires us to do right.

”My body and my heart fail, but God is my heart’s rock and my share forever.” ~Psalm 73:26 (Common English Bible)

Lord, I want to stay in the fold. I want to make sure that all things are done to accomplish that perfection that You so desire for my life. I pray for wisdom, strength and discernment to do the right things, be the right person and know the right path.

Let me truly understand that You are what makes me, and who perfects me and gives me life – life in the here and now and life eternal.

“The bread of God is the one who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” ~ John 6:33 (Common English Bible)

Then I think of being “folded in”. Just like making the perfect crust – folding-in, in perfect measure. That is what He does for me. All of His goodness, lessons and corrections are folded in to make me perfect. I just have to realize that it’s when I start playing with the ingredients, or playing with what is there too long that is when things don’t work as they are designed.

“But look here: God is my helper; my Lord sustains my life.” ~Psalm 54:4 (Common English Bible)

Often times I am only aware that I have a lesson in the words or thoughts, but rarely know how they will come together. Tonight has been one of them. It makes sense in my heart, I pray it makes sense to the page.

Day 891 of Giving Thanks

“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” ~Ephesians 2:10 (New Living Translation)

As I sit here this morning, readying myself for another long work day, I am greatly reminded of the promises I own because of my heritage. As a child of God, we receive all of His promises, and whether they arrive immediately or over time, we can be sure that we have a faithful God; trustworthy, loving and perfect in every way. Today I come to Him in whole heart and once again try to submit completely to His will and plan. And yet again, I know that I cannot do this, but in the strength of the Holy Spirit, through asking, it is already done.

Knowing His gift has given me the strength to approach every day. And on the days I am not feeling all that strong, I approach the throne.

I often think about what it means to have simple faith... I love you God, so I will trust all that You send my way. Help me to confirm all Your deeds as they pertain to my life. Help me discern good from evil. Help me to be more seeking and believing. Let my faith be unfailing and able to withstand the ways of this world. Your strength and stamina LORD. That is simple faith... knowing that it is all You.

It has been a rare occasion that I have removed someone completely from my life, or as Ron calls it, the playground. But I am so glad I have on the few that I did. Your playground, your mind is the key to growth in the LORD. We are told to hold every thought captive; HIS WORD. We are to remove the lies of the enemy and hold onto the promises of our Creator.

Keep your playground clear of weeds, negativity and lies. Learn the promises of God. Depend on the perfect power, strength and discernment of the Holy Spirit and grow in faith daily.

In watching others, praying for others and hearing from others, I am learning many things. I am learning to rest in His promise and depend on His work, strength and power – which are really the same things. He works and all things are accomplished in His strength if we want them done correctly and it all comes through a dependence on Him.

To fully understand God's grace, we have to realize the depth and damage sin is to us.

Today as I feel shaky, “let me be unshaken”. Make today be the day I move beyond the pain of the past; beyond the illness; beyond the resentment; beyond myself.

Restoration of a relationship only takes one person to forgive... the rest comes through persistent prayer, faith and time - God's time. For me today, what does this mean. Revel it to me LORD… Help me to recognize all You share, and apply it to how I live. Our God is good, so good... and we have the love that is proven through Jesus and the unending presence with us in the Holy Spirit.

AWESOME, WONDERFUL, AMAZING.... cannot even begin to describe my God, my Creator for you. But it's a start. Let's praise Him in the best way we can.

“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” ~Ephesians 2:10 (New Living Translation)

Day 890 of Giving Thanks

“It is to freedom that you have been called, my brothers. Only be careful that freedom does not become mere opportunity for your lower nature. You should be free to serve each other in love. For after all, the whole Law toward others is summed up by this one command, ‘You shall love your neighbour as yourself’.”  ~Galatians 5:13 (J.B. Phillips New Testament)

The LORD has mercy on us... do you believe He is the power of all things? For you will not see His mercy without a belief - faith provides proof. I have seen the great work of the LORD in my life, through and in others. It is a daily adventure in the LORD to watch people and circumstances move in my life. Mostly I am amazed by how much I am changed and have transformed. I am grateful to allow the LORD to take me in, move me forward and draw me nearer. It is my daily pleasure to be in His presence and realize His will. As I ready myself to rest, I am reminded that I only rest because of Him – I only receive because I seek – I only realize because I submit. I look forward to discovering all that He has for me, learning to grow

Restoration of a relationship only takes one person to forgive... the rest comes through persistent prayer, faith and time - God's time. In watching others, praying for others and hearing from others, I am learning many things. I am learning to rest in His promise and depend on His work, strength and power – which are really the same things. He works and all things are accomplished in His strength if we want them done correctly and it all comes through a dependence on Him. May I say again, I submit to His will. May I know that it is His work that gives me my work. I am grateful for the many things that I have come to know over the years, and again. Getting to know Him by leaning in and being drawn has given me so much joy and hope for all things in my life. Given what we have been given, through the Christ, doesn't it just make sense to give to others - forgiveness out of love, love out of gratitude and gratitude through praise daily?

I am learning that freedom is not an absence of boundaries, but the presence of God’s boundaries and desires for my life. I am learning that all things that come through the LORD are what is good and right. And, all things that I do should be done in gratitude for what He has done, and with that in mind, loving and encouraging others is easy, and simply accomplished.

I am grateful for the love I have undeservingly receive and want so desperately to give in the same manner to others. Thank You Father, that in Your strength and through Your will, this is accomplished. Thank You for reminding me that I need You, depend on You and can only glorify You when I know this to be true.

FREEDOM comes only through knowing the dependence on my Creator. Today, I am greatly dependent and eternally grateful for it.

Day 889 of Giving Thanks

Sometimes, it's the few words that make the greatest difference; it's the profound messages that come from the LORD that move all things; it's the Word of God that gives clarity and definition to our lives. Let us love in the light of the LORD, let us shine in the love of the LORD.

We can relay our message through a book or cliff notes; we live in a society of briefs, shortcuts and summaries. With that said, I prefer the short and sweet and to the point and on point messages.

So tonight it will be short, just a few notes from my day.

“Divine favor -- Look, happy is the person whom God corrects; so don’t reject the Almighty’s instruction.” Job 5:17 (Common English Bible)

Dear Lord,

I am so exhausted. In the close of the day, knowing that I need to shut my day out and focus on You, I am so ready to be in Your presence. I am so ready to forget all the challenges of my day. Into Your presence LORD... help me with Your words, Your Word... Help me with Your strength and wisdom.

Your daughter.

Oh, and every day is a day of rest, worship and reflection... I love celebrating the Sabbath daily.

We are to work hard, not for the reward for what God will give us, but in gratitude for what has already been accomplished through Christ.

Hope is because He is and He did....

Our God is good, so good... and we have the love that is proven through Jesus and the unending presence with us in the Holy Spirit. I love You LORD... help me submit to Your will.

Today, I found rest, even in all the work and busyness. I found hope in knowing that I am changing and growing, and He is guiding and correcting all along the way.

This verse sums up how I feel so well, “But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceful, gentle, obedient, full of mercy and good fruits, nonjudgmental, without hypocrisy, And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace amon those who make peace.” ~James 3:17-18 (Lexham English Bible)

Day 888 of Giving Thanks

These past few weeks, I have felt like my life was not mine in a different way. I know that my life is His, and I grateful for that. Work has been crazy, boundaries have not existed and today I sit here thoroughly exhausted and truly ready for rest, which is still not going to come (yet). I have to submit daily to remembering whose I am, and that the enemy lies and works hard for me to hear them, and adhere to them. Help me LORD to wholly submit all things.

“Let us love, but have no dealing with lies - I was overjoyed to find some of your children living the life of truth, as the Father himself instructed us. I beg you now, dear lady, not as though I were issuing any new order but simply reminding you of the original one, to see that we continue to love one another. Real love means obeying the Father’s orders, and you have known from the beginning that you must live in obedience to him.” ~2 John 1:4-6 (J.B. Phillips New Testament)

My job is not me; but I must remember what I represent through my job. With this said, I am to honor God in all I do on a daily basis. I am to be Jesus daily. As I reached a breaking point today, I thought of Jesus overturning tables in the temple. Was His anger warranted, acceptable? Of course - Jesus, although fully man, reacted in the strength and wisdom of the Holy Spirit. Now, as I reflect again on my "actions" from earlier this week, I wonder, is my frustration warranted, acceptable?

Much prayer will continue as I contemplate further actions. Identifying the real issue seems to be the issue for me. So, what is my prayer? I pray heavenly Father for wisdom and clarity of heart as I continue on this quest to discover where You truly want me, what You will have me do.

My past is full of wrong decisions, indecisions and misconceptions. Why would I ever want to go back there? I have an opportunity to live in today, move through the present in strength and clarity and wisdom in the perfect power of the Holy Spirit. The past has nothing for me... the present is everything!

Living in the past has sucked the life right out of me. This life here is definitely a journey, one that has been a wonderful experience. It is only through the Holy Spirit, the perfect strength of my mighty Creator that will see me through all struggles, wariness, brokenness and illness. In my heart I know, “submit”… in my thoughts I hear, “submit”… and that is what I am to do. And, yes, LORD, I submit in Your strength alone.

So, again, with this said I must move forward. These last weeks are the past. I must move forward and take my rest in the LORD as the LORD desires it to happen.

Rest.... rest!

Day 887 of Giving Thanks

What is my thorn? The thorn is not the illness that is always with me. The thorn could possibly be my need to change my attitude or my obsessive desires to be where I “once was” with my career (so long ago). But, my heart says it’s the change I truly desire, but seem to miss the mark on so often; the change that will move me to the next level of trust; the next level of faith; the ultimate level of belief… How do I give it to You LORD, when I keep stepping into it?

“I was given a thorn in my body because of the outstanding revelations I’ve received so that I wouldn’t be conceited. It’s a messenger from Satan sent to torment me so that I wouldn’t be conceited.“I pleaded with the Lord three times for it to leave me alone. He said to me, “My grace is enough for you, because power is made perfect in weakness.” So I’ll gladly spend my time bragging about my weaknesses so that Christ’s power can rest on me. Therefore, I’m all right with weaknesses, insults, disasters, harassments, and stressful situations for the sake of Christ, because when I’m weak, then I’m strong.” ~2 Corinthians 12:7-10 (Common English Bible)

For a brief moment, my day was heading this way... Yep, once in a while, an explosion of emotion is required... blow off steam! Cry! Be angry! And, truly submit it all to the LORD.

Let us worship and praise the mighty God, our Creator... Let us bow down and humble ourselves before the throne. He is my King - Jesus is my Redeemer. What an amazing time it is, to be wholly obedient and entirely aware of His presence.

What are some of the prayers, verses, music you use to call on His name and His presence? Mine is different with every situation, in every crisis, on any given day, every time, but the thoughts are directed and focused on Him.

Every day LORD, every moment - let them all be Yours.

I have prayed for healing of this disease for all of my adult life. I have believed and trusted... One day, I heard God clearly say, "You are already healed, and will spend eternity with Me... that is enough." Yes, that is enough.

As I come to my LORD, I am praying for you. May the LORD show you your path to healing according to His will and plans. May you be comforted and strengthened daily through the work of the Holy Spirit in your life.

Today, I live in the joy of the moment, and hope of my Savior's work for me.

I will never be perfect on this earth, in this body... but I know one thing really well... I am being perfected by He who is perfect and there is nothing better than that.

Again I ask, how do I give it to You LORD, when I keep stepping into it? By wholly trusting the LORD, through a growing faith and always unending faith. Mighty, worthy, perfect, amazing, graceful and forgiving God. Thank You.

Day 886 of Giving Thanks

"In the name of Jesus" is not a wishing well, but a way to adhere to His desires for our life. Come to Him earnestly and seek His will for your life. Ask for clarity and be bold in the acceptance of the perfect plans He has for you.

"But anyone who needs wisdom should ask God, whose very nature is to give to everyone without a second thought, without keeping score. Wisdom will certainly be given to those who ask." ~James 1:5 (Common English Bible)

I am learning to look at everyday as a miracle; that as I approach each morning, there is an opportunity to change, to see change in others and allow God to change me. I am learning that change is the miracle, and my heart’s desire is to be what He desires for me. With every breath, I am seeking. With every breath, I am praising. With every breath, I am learning. Father, thank You for every breath filled moment.

The miracle of life is waking up and realizing that He gave everything so we can choose Him. The gift of choice is also the curse of rejection, but that is completely on us. My prayer today is for those who have not chosen, to choose Jesus as their Redeemer and King. My pray today is for those who want to see what the LORD has for them and for those to see all that He has.

My Savior, my Redeemer, My King.

I am learning to see every day as new. To remember that with God, I am renewed daily. I am to approach every new day in joy and hope and look upon all that occurred the day before with the eyes and heart of Jesus. Forget what is not necessary for me to grow, forgive all that is not necessary for me to love others.

Forgiveness means taking the first step and leaving all the hurt behind.

Thankfulness comes from understanding what we have that we have nothing to do with - God's love (unending, yet undeserved); God's plan for our life (always perfect, though we are imperfect); God's wisdom through the Holy Spirit, although we dismiss it so often (He draws us continuously).

God is here for all of us, we just have to listen for Him, be obedient to His will for our life and aware of His presence.

“The LORD has done it this very day; let us rejoice today and be glad.” ~Psalm 118:24 (New International Version)

We are made to worship our Creator, who is awesome, perfect and holy. In human terms, these words fall short, just as we do. Aren't you grateful that He loves us anyway? Today, show your awesome, perfect and holy God love for Him by showing and sharing love with others. Today, be light... if needed, ask Him for help; your help is ever-present in the unending powers and strength of the Holy Spirit.

God I need You. God I love You!

Today is always a new day to begin again and improve on the previous days. I am grateful for all the changes that God has so wonderfully orchestrated in my life. I am grateful for all the changes that I so earnestly desire to see through with God in charge.

Let me relay the grace and beauty of the LORD’s Word and promises that He is always with us, helping us change, grow and draw nearer to Him. Daily renewed, strengthened and living in hope.

“Why would you ever complain, O Jacob, or, whine, Israel, saying, "God has lost track of me. He doesn't care what happens to me"? Don't you know anything? Haven't you been listening?God doesn't come and go. God lasts. He's Creator of all you can see or imagine. He doesn't get tired out, doesn't pause to catch his breath. And He knows everything, inside and out. He energizes those who get tired, gives fresh strength to dropouts. For even young people tire and drop out, young folk in their prime stumble and fall. But those who wait upon God get fresh strength. They spread their wings and soar like eagles, They run and don't get tired, they walk and don't lag behind.” ~Isaiah 40:31 (The Message)

Day 885 of Giving Thanks

Have you ever "felt" you were in the wrong place? I have been thinking about that a lot lately. After much prayer and asking, I have realized that I am where I am until God moves me. For almost four years I have been asking for a new job; for no other reason than to “be paid what I am worth”… and I am basing that on my past. Now, as I reflect on this again tonight, I am convinced that it is my perspective that needs to change. I am very fortunate, I work in ministry; I can “freely” pray, listen to worship music and watch God work out many things in the course of a workday. During these years, although I love the ministry I have looked at things incorrectly, and have not always remembered who I truly work for.

Today, with new eyes and after an extremely long two months of hard, long hours, I know that I am in the right place but have had the wrong thinking... So often I have asked God to move me from a circumstance, and today, I know that I need to just continue to ask Him to help me change perspective!!!  Being content means - finding joy in all we do, and shining the love of the LORD as we wait on Him.

We have been praying for wisdom with a family matter during these past few months as well; isn’t it amazing that God shines the light exactly where I need it?

"But anyone who needs wisdom should ask God, whose very nature is to give to everyone without a second thought, without keeping score. Wisdom will certainly be given to those who ask." ~James 1:5 Common English Bible (Common English Bible)

Today is always a new day to begin again and improve on the previous days. I am grateful for all the changes that God has so wonderfully orchestrated in my life. I am grateful for all the changes that I so earnestly desire to see through with God in charge.

I no longer “feel” like I am in the wrong place; I believe I am in the perfect place to see God work miracles in me and through me.

I revel in Jesus’ words to change, seek heaven… be His; know that I am a new creation and as His creation; because He is unchanging, I can change in the perfect strength and depending on Him, will not grow weary. (Matthew 4:17, 2 Corinthians 5:17, Ephesians 2:10)

“Yet those who wait for the LORD Will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary.”  ~Isaiah 40:31 (New American Standard Bible)
“But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun]; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired.”  ~Isaiah 40:31 (Amplified Bible)

Day 884 of Giving Thanks

Hi God... I didn't forget about my quiet time today, however, it did not go according to plan. Sometimes I wonder, was that You or me? Even though my quiet time was not “officially” noted on my calendar, I did come to be with you often today, was that You or me? As I sit here now, I am amazed with You... for it is You drawing me nearer, so I will seek You more. For me every day is a test – a test of faith, courage and trust.

As close as I have become to my Savior, my King, my God during these few years of growing in the Word and in faith, I am still in awe at how much I must learn and how much I desire to change. Today as my obedience was tested, the desire to step back into the old habit of complaining was strong. Yet, His desire through the Holy Spirit for my actions was, thankfully, much stronger. Free will, God’s will, you bet. It is only through living for Him that my will becomes, “His will be done”.

On Sunday, as turmoil and the ploys of the enemy worked to bring the wall of faith down into rubble for my family, I was reminded of James 1:5 which tells us that God’s wisdom is ours when we ask. “Now if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask for it from God, who gives to all without reservation and not reproaching, and it will be given to him.” (Lexham English Bible)

I believe that has been one of my biggest challenges. My heart says, trust, my head says “do”… when I place my desire to do above, His promises that it is already done, I get into trouble. 1 Peter 1 provides a great reminder of this for me, and verse 5 provides so much wisdom. “Through his faithfulness, you are guarded by God’s power so that you can receive the salvation he is ready to reveal in the last time.”  1 Peter 1:5 (Common English Bible)

We will be tested every day.... When we act through the strength, wisdom and power of the LORD through the Holy Spirit, we are strengthened even more, we gain God wisdom and we start to realize that we truly are powerful beyond measure because of whose we are.

I am stubborn, at times stuck in the stupidity of my past, and yet grateful to have been saved from myself. And, I have learned that only in the words that I have leaned greatly on, do I find the comfort to move toward obedience and listen for the truth that only the Holy Spirit can give… which is my daily hope and is my daily strength.

A New Birth to a Living Hope – “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to his great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, into an inheritance imperishable and undefiled and unfading, reserved in heaven for you who are being protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time, in which you rejoice greatly, although now for a short time, if necessary, you are distressed by various trials, so that the genuineness of your faith, more valuable than gold that is passing away, but is tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ, whom, although you have not seen, you love; in whom now you believe, although you do not see him, and you rejoice greatly with joy inexpressible and full of glory, obtaining the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.” 1 Peter 1:1-9 (Lexham English Bible)

Father, we come before You and thank You for the many blessings we receive and ask that we have eyes to recognize them and the hearts to share them with others. Today LORD was another busy day, one that was non-stop and full of surprises - thank You for those mountains that moved and the clearing can be seen greatly. I have seen so many miracles and works of wonder in my days lately, and it is awesome. I am asking for strength and clarity as we come to You for counsel. Help me to be completely accurate and alert, thankful and thoughtful as I communicate with others, especially those who are not as gracious as I would like, but help me to be the Jesus in their day. In the unending power and full strength of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Day 883 of Giving Thanks

“We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ,” ~2 Corinthians 10:5 (English Standard Version)

During the last couple of weeks, our group has prayed for many who are hurting, and who desperately want healing. Sometimes it is a matter of changing the little things like what we think about, what we speak to ourselves and what we allow to be spoken around us. I have learned over the years to “filter” everything and let go of so much. As humans, we have the tendency to hold on to that which is unhealthy; memories, misplaced comments and words that drive deep into the heart, yet rarely decide to take charge of our thoughts.

What can I do, I feel (helpless, worried, angry, hurt, alone)?

First and foremost tell yourself and remember, “I am God's daughter/son and for everything I come to Him, I love Him and I trust Him.” Remember to be the best wife/husband, mother/father (sister/brother) by first being kind to yourself through your words.

Trust in the LORD's plan... know that we cannot always "feel" God, but HE PROMISES TO NEVER LEAVE NOR FORSAKE us. When you don't "feel" Him, thank Him for being there. Start little... tell God all the things you are grateful for... if you need to start with, "I am thankful to know that I have eternity with You LORD"... continue with, "thank You Father, that I can change, even when my circumstances do not seem to."... Do this daily. We have to be the change for God. Others will not change without God... God is faithful and is with all of His beautiful children.

Think upon Him, dwell upon Jesus' work on the cross and remember to be grateful, and listen for the opportunities to speak or listen.

Your life hidden in Christ
"Therefore, if you were raised with Christ, look for the things that are above where Christ is sitting at God’s right side. Think about the things above and not things on earth. You died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with him in glory.“So put to death the parts of your life that belong to the earth, such as sexual immorality, moral corruption, lust, evil desire, and greed (which is idolatry).” ~Colossians 3:1-5 (Common English Bible)

Let go of whatever beliefs you have about yourself if you are not healthy right now. Recovery is only possible with God in charge.

Above all, we must remember compassion when speaking to others. We do not know where they come from, what experiences they have been through, hurts they lived through, losses they suffered or "religious folk" they have run into. I find it very comforting to watch compassion through a brother or sister in actions with kindness and love as the agenda.

God is the one who draws people nearer, they are the ones to respond - with that said, we can be used in mighty and amazing ways, but only when we allow the Holy Spirit to direct our hearts and mouths, as well as our actions.

We really must focus on our thoughts. Find a group of people where correction is invited, when it comes to the written word. Where loving one another in Christ is a moment-to-moment objective. Grow together in Christ - be honest, bold and discuss in love and kindness - respectfully, thoughtfully and in line with God's Word. That is what we are called to do.

In our lives, we remove the negatives, are thankful for all of God’s work in and around us; knowing we are all sinners, in need of a Savior and love the LORD and are so thankful for the Lord Jesus' work.

“[Inasmuch as we] refute arguments and theories and reasonings and every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God; and we lead every thought and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One),” ~~2 Corinthians 10:5 (Amplified Bible)

Day 882 of Giving Thanks

Last night I dreamt. And, it was one of those dreams that, while dreaming, it was so real; I can’t shake this dream.

It started out in my doctor’s office. The words came and penetrated through me like liquid steel, sharp pain into the mind and solar plexus, yet enveloped every part of me. My first thought was, “OK God… take me through, what’s my next step?”

From the doctor’s office to home, where things moved pretty quickly, not a soul was told what was relayed to me in the doctor’s office. I prayed through my days and had a sense that it truly was me and God against the world. I changed. Boldness was no longer a request, but a character trait; the gospel was spoken, no matter what I said – Jesus was seen. It’s like I no longer spoke in my own strength, each day was “the” opportunity to share what I knew…

In the dream, “time” was no longer a factor, places, people, projects and daily activity had no boundary of time for me; days had gone by, I know because of the accomplishments at work. I suspected it was about a week that had passed in my dream. And, it was time. With another doctor visit, and this time with Chris. For me the words were no longer urgent, but just part of the plan. But for Chris, it was life and death. The verse that comes to mind, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”” ~Jeremiah 29:11 (New International Version) And at that moment, it was time to say what I had always wanted to say to my husband – timing is everything.

As most married couples, we have moments when we doubt the love of our spouse; this was not one of them. This was a moment of seeing through years of repair and compassion; years of passion to be one, as we promised that first day; this is what I thought of as Chris looked at me. I said, “I don’t want to talk about my death here. I want to talk about your life eternally. I want you in heaven with me, and I want you to know what I know; heaven is real, the God I know is real and it is His desire for you to know Him too.” And that was it, really, that is all God gave me in that moment. Again, it was time to live the example and love my husband. I’ve wanted to share so often, one of my favorite verses, and prayed for him to “get it”, “receive it”; that is still my prayer.

“Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, does not faint or grow weary; there is no searching of His understanding.“He gives power to the faint and weary, and to him who has no might He increases strength [causing it to multiply and making it to abound].“Even youths shall faint and be weary, and [selected] young men shall feebly stumble and fall exhausted;“But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun]; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired.” ~ Isaiah 40:28-31 (Amplified Bible)

I had a sense of purpose like never before, but why? The words that were delivered in the doctor’s office both times, were, “Shawn, you have a very rare disorder that can attack at any moment, there is no diagnoses, no treatment and no timeline, but at any moment you will stop breathing and die.”

As I sit here now, with this dream still clear, like I “really walked in these shoes” and the awareness of the message still resonating and marinating through my mind, I am filled with hope.

Were these really words of a dream? No, this is the reality of all of our lives. At any moment, we can be taken home, ill or not, the diagnosis is clear, and the cure has been given and it is truly our job to share it.

I hear it asked, "When is it your moment?"

Day 881 of Giving Thanks

Can you say, “Misfits, sinners and liars”? Really, that is what we are… but so are all of God’s people, right? It’s when we start to believe that we are perfect that perfection slips away. We are all on “this journey” that will ultimately bring us to eternal perfection in the presence and glory or our King. Now, with that said, we as “misfits, sinners and liars”, we are wholly covered by the blood of salvation, which is provided in love through the perfect life of Christ, an undeserving grace.

“But God shows His love for us, because while we were still sinners Christ died for us.” ~Romans 5:8 (Common English Bible)

Oh God, I am looking for strength to keep moving today. I am so physically exhausted, yet cannot stop. In Your strength, in Your arms, let the help from the Holy Spirit be realized. Let me trust that all things today will be accomplished according to Your will. As I look at the pile of things to be done, and the clock that seems to move quicker than my attempts, I pray for time and wisdom to be effective and productive, in Your precious name Jesus, I pray. Thank You Father for giving me the desire for obedience. Amen.

I have been praying on, and listening for much on the subject of obedience. Often we believe, if we "do this", God will "do that"... really, it's when we abide by God's desires for us to be "more like Christ", we can see all that He has already laid before us and our life is blessed. It's not a tit for tat relationship; my relationship with my Creator is a thankful and revel in being like Christ response to His love for me. I will obey when I "get" that He loves me like no one else can possibly love me. Because He loves me, I have grace; and it’s when I begin to understand what Jesus did for me, I can begin to understand the greatness of His love for me… when I begin to understand His love, I can love Him more and obedience begins and continues to manifest.

“In this the love of God was made manifest (displayed) where we are concerned: in that God sent His Son, the only begotten or unique [Son], into the world so that we might live through Him.“In this is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation (the atoning sacrifice) for our sins.“Beloved, if God loved us so [very much], we also ought to love one another.” ~1 John 4:9-11 (Amplified Bible)

Grateful... truly grateful today and every day. For more than I ever thought possible.

Through rough waters, Jesus keeps me in the boat.

Many times in my past, when things were rough, I thought swimming in my strength was safer and better than trusting something I couldn't see or hold on to... going under, gasping for air, getting dragged to the shore and being brought back to life has taught me there is nothing safer than faith in the unseen, perfect strength of the Holy Spirit, all knowing Father and protection I have in Jesus' blood. He is all I need, not seen, but greatly known. With Him, I am unshakeable.

“This means that in this final “shaking” all that is impermanent will be removed, that is, everything that is merely “made”, and only the unshakeable things will remain. Since then we have been given a kingdom that is “unshakeable”, let us serve God with thankfulness in the ways which please Him, but always with reverence and holy fear. For it is perfectly true that our ‘God is a burning fire’.” ~Hebrews 12:28-29 (J.B. Phillips New Testament)
