Thankful Life - July 26, 2015

Are you in despair? Praying for your despair to lift, and the fire of our Lord Jesus to ignite in your Spirit to see Him in your moments of hopelessness... that you will know deeply that satan, and his scheme to take your joy, has already been defeated...

When we allow the flow of God's grace to wash over us through His Word, while going deeply into His presence, we are assured and reassured that He will handle our every need.

Don't every feel bad that your faith is not enough, or you don't believe enough, or you doubt way too much... but do give all those feelings to God. Keep running toward Him, even and especially when you cannot sense hope...

Allow your moments to be consumed by thoughts of our Father, the Creator... Jesus, our Redeemer... and keep asking the Holy Spirit to bring you closer, deeper, wholly into His presence.

Today, I am believing that walls within my life that are holding me back from His presence wholly, blessings abundantly, miracles to unspoken prayers, hope delivered, joy lived... and His light displayed.

SOAKING in my LORD God and Redeemer in whole presence with the Holy Spirit.
The Breaking by Christopher Georges

Know His Word... to know His Beauty in your life.
Hebrews 11
The Voice (VOICE)
11 Faith is the assurance of things you have hoped for, the absolute conviction that there are realities you’ve never seen. 2 It was by faith that our forebears were approved. 3 Through faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God; everything we now see was fashioned from that which is invisible.
Faith begins as hope and indeed is unseen; so many doubt that it is real. What follows is the proof that faith is a reality that can be trusted.
4 By faith Abel presented to God a sacrifice more acceptable than his brother Cain’s. By faith Abel learned he was righteous, as God Himself testified by approving his offering. And by faith he still speaks, although his voice was silenced by death.
5 By faith Enoch was carried up into heaven so that he did not see death; no one could find him because God had taken him. Before he was taken up, it was said of him that he had pleased God. 6 Without faith no one can please God because the one coming to God must believe He exists, and He rewards those who come seeking.
7 By faith Noah respected God’s warning regarding the flood—the likes of which no one had ever seen—and built an ark that saved his family. In this he condemned the world and inherited the righteousness that comes by faith.
8 By faith Abraham heard God’s call to travel to a place he would one day receive as an inheritance; and he obeyed, not knowing where God’s call would take him. 9 By faith he journeyed to the land of the promise as a foreigner; he lived in tents, as did Isaac and Jacob, his fellow heirs to the promise 10 because Abraham looked ahead to a city with foundations, a city laid out and built by God.
11 By faith Abraham’s wife Sarah became fertile long after menopause because she believed God would be faithful to His promise. 12 So from this man, who was almost at death’s door, God brought forth descendants, as many as the stars in the sky and as impossible to count as the sands of the shore.
13 All these I have mentioned died in faith without receiving the full promises, although they saw the fulfillment as though from a distance. These people accepted and confessed that they were strangers and foreigners on this earth 14 because people who speak like this make it plain that they are still seeking a homeland. 15 If this was only a bit of nostalgia for a time and place they left behind, then certainly they might have turned around and returned. 16 But such saints as these look forward to a far better place, a heavenly country. So God is not ashamed to be called their God because He has prepared a heavenly city for them.
17 By faith Abraham, when he endured God’s testing, offered his beloved son Isaac as a sacrifice. The one who had received God’s promise was willing to offer his only son; 18 God had told him, “It is through Isaac that your descendants will bear your name,”[a] 19 and he concluded that God was capable of raising him from the dead, which, figuratively, is indeed what happened.
20 By faith Isaac spoke blessings upon his sons, Jacob and Esau, concerning things yet to come.
21 By faith Jacob, when he was dying, blessed the sons of his son Joseph, bowing in worship as he leaned upon his staff.[b]
22 By faith Joseph, at his life’s end, predicted that the children of Israel would make an exodus from Egypt; and he gave instructions that his bones be buried in the land they would someday reach.
23 By faith Moses’ parents hid him for three months after he was born because they saw that he was handsome; and they did not fear Pharaoh’s directive that all male Hebrew children were to be slain.
24 By faith Moses, when he was grown, refused to be identified solely as the son of Pharaoh’s daughter 25 and chose instead to share the sufferings of the people of God, not just living in sin and ease for a time. 26 He considered the abuse that he and the people of God had suffered in anticipation of the Anointed One more valuable than all the riches of Egypt because he looked ahead to the coming reward.
27 By faith Moses left Egypt, unafraid of Pharaoh’s wrath and moving forward as though he could see the invisible God. 28 Through faith, he instituted the Passover and the sprinkling of blood on the doorposts among the Hebrews so that the destroyer of the firstborn would pass over their homes without harming them. 29 By faith the people crossed through the Red Sea as if they were walking on dry land, although the pursuing Egyptian soldiers were drowned when they tried to follow.
30 By faith the walls of Jericho toppled after the people had circled them for seven days. 31 By faith the prostitute Rahab welcomed the Hebrew spies into her home so that she did not perish with the unbelievers.
32 I could speak more of faith; I could talk until time itself ran out. If I continued, I could speak of the examples of Gideon, Barak, Samson, and Jephthah, of David and Samuel and all the prophets. 33 I could give accounts of people alive with faith who conquered kingdoms, brought justice, obtained promises, and closed the mouths of hungry lions. 34 I could tell you how people of faith doused raging fires, escaped the edge of the sword, made the weak strong, and—stoking great valor among the champions of God—sent opposing armies into panicked flight.
35 I could speak of faith bringing women their loved ones back from death and how the faithful accepted torture instead of earthly deliverance because they believed they would obtain a better life in the resurrection. 36 Others suffered mockery and whippings; they were placed in chains and in prisons. 37 The faithful were stoned, sawn in two,[c] killed by the sword, clothed only in sheepskins and goatskins; they were penniless, afflicted, and tormented. 38 The world was not worthy of these saints. They wandered across deserts, crossed mountains, and lived in the caves, cracks, and crevasses of the earth.
Stories of faith and faithfulness are central to the First Testament. The writer of Hebrews recalls some of the most memorable examples of how people of faith lived their lives. But what is faith? Faith is more than belief; it is trust, assurance, and firm conviction. Ironically most of those who lived by faith never fully realized the promises God had made. Like us they journeyed as strangers and exiles, longing for another country. We should remember their patient faith when we face prolonged hardships and allow the trials we face to strengthen our faith rather than destroy it. If we are comfortable here and don’t face suffering for our faith, perhaps we aren’t fully living by faith and looking forward to a future hope.
39 These, though commended by God for their great faith, did not receive what was promised. 40 That promise has awaited us, who receive the better thing that God has provided in these last days, so that with us, our forebears might finally see the promise completed.
11:18 Genesis 21:12
11:21 Genesis 47:31
11:37 Some early manuscripts read “sawn in two.” Other early manuscripts read “tempted.” Later manuscripts have both.
Joy is in the journey... Hope is in the accomplished work of a perfect Savior.

Thankful Life - July 25, 2015

Let's say you are ill, very, very ill... you pray for healing. It doesn't come....  others are praying for your healing... it doesn't come. You plead, cry out and mourn over the life that you no longer have because of this illness, you spend much time lamenting and begging for healing to come.... it doesn't come.

Scenario One: Life continues in a cycle of praying and asking and feeling defeated that your prayers, and the prayers of others on your behalf go unanswered. You are convinced you have no purpose and the enemy has won. You know that there is no purpose for you in all this.

Moments of illness become years of torment. Years of torment have destroyed everything. And, you are bitter, unsatisfied and angry at God. Your life has been lived in pain and concern for becoming well, in defeat, anger.... and in your life you have moments of reprieve and admit, "God is good... he is healing me", but complete healing does not come and the cycle begins again.

Scenario Two: Life continues and you are drawn to pray for others every time the pain seems unbearable. You cling to our Fathers Holy Word and seek for answers diligently in the scriptures. You realize through reading the lives of other saints in the Word that you're not alone... that through it, God is with you (Psalm 34:17-19, Psalm 147:3) and with every day of pursuing God, you realize all the times He was right there carrying you through the muck and mier AND PURSUING YOU... your life and heart. FEAR NOT... "fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." ~Isaiah 41:10.

And, as His Word envelops your life, your heart and consumes your thoughts, you are able to share His light with others... you give thanks for things that tore your heart out before... you become the encourager. The one, despite your own pain, who will always pray for someone, and listen. Because you already know that the LORD will sustain you and carry you in the harshest of moments.

"We are cracked and chipped from our afflictions on all sides, but we are not crushed by them. We are bewildered at times, but we do not give in to despair. We are persecuted, but we have not been abandoned. We have been knocked down, but we are not destroyed." ~2 Corinthians 4:8-9 (The Voice)

Moments of illness become special and precious times with your Creator. Others see your light, and want to know, "how through all that you are going through you are able to pray for others... encourage others"...

Really, there is no scenario one or two, there is life and it is around, between and through both of these ideas, and with God as the focus, God's desire for our life will come to light. It's all about Him.

Just my thoughts as I worship my Creator this morning. He is speaking to me....

Thankful Life & Challenge - July 24, 2015

First off, I am not sharing for accolades... but to share my heart and what the LORD has given me to share with others.

I am grateful God has placed me here at this time. And has given me a heart to serve... pray... and encourage others. It is truly my all natural antidepressant. I remember someone saying that you cannot be sad when you are helping someone else... and they were so right!

As we head into the weekend, my thoughts are on the work of our Lord Jesus Christ, our Father and the Holy Spirit in us, in the lives of every single one of us (yes, even you). We can have turmoil, challenges, disasters and complete road blocks physically, mentally, emotionally and, more than not, spiritually. Our Father in heaven desires us to seek Him through it all. What I have been learning is that we cannot just praise Him when things go well... we are well.... all is well.... Learning to praise our Creator in the midst of everything will teach us that there is so much more than what we see and experience here on earth, in this life.

The LORD gave me the most amazing gift many years back, that came in a challenge, and believe me, the I fought God fiercely on what He asked me to do. I literally shouted to Him, "I did not want anything to do with the challenge set before me".  But our God is the great persuader. And, I pray that you are encouraged, challenged and prompted by my words.

My life changed... it was like being thrown an island that I could step onto when I was drowning. I was trying to survive with a  life-jacket, my choosing... over time, the life-jacket filled with water, became worn through and full of holes... I was confessing to be a believer... but didn't believe what the Word told me (and didn't read the Word intentionally, but did so by word search). So, in tidbits... chunks.... pieces..... and slowly, the LORD engaged me in the Word - with very specific instructions. Give thanks daily. "Really, Lord?" I would ask...and begrudgingly, I did it anyway. I gave thanks every single day for 30 days (no matter how I felt).... and when the initial challenge was accomplished... God said, "keep going".... which turned into 90 days... then 120... and solidly thorugh the first 770, I didn't miss a day... then over a 1000 days. I missed only 3 or 4 days in that time... but kept writing and holding every thought captive (2 Corinthians 10:5)... edifying to my Lord and Savior.

When I began this journey, my husband and I were living in the same house, but not in alignment at all. I was so sick (falling down, migraines daily, vision issues, fatigue, ten, in so much pain, and barely hanging on emotionally, depressed and desperate. We had lost jobs (both of us in a year), our house, our cars, we were living in my ex-husband's spare house because we couldn't find anything else... I was disconnecting from everything... cervical cancer surgery and suicidal from the hormone treatments, dealing with a long-term unexplainable illness, and all the naysayers who insisted my ailments were all in my head.... and God called me to give thanks, what's up with that?

I know so many are suffering, and in need of respite, my prayer is that the Holy Spirit will nudge someone to hear the call to change to this one habit, and instruction of our Father.

If you are crying out to God and trying to 'hear' Him, and don't know how to begin, just begin... simply... daily... and ask God to help you, and feel free to drop me a note as well.

Will you join me in a 30 day challenge?

Sharing a Thanksgiving Day post:

Thankful Life - July 21, 2015

Holy Spirit help me conquer all that is not of You in my life through every trial and in every triumph... help me know victory is already accomplished.

Broken Hearts… Lord I'm praying for those who are heartbroken, heartsick, broken Period!!
Praying for those who say, "I can't do it anymore"… For those who are tired and weary Lord God I pray for a new peace, Your presence.

It is not our job to have all the answers, but it is our job to focus on the LORD for the answers He reveals. We must seek Him with all our questions and His plan will be laid out before us. It does not mean He will tell us to step here and here for every step, but will point us in the direction that we can walk toward - hold on to and change in the process.

In the times when I am seeking a change... I really try to remember that God will grow us wherever we are - and help the desires of our heart to meet up with His will... praying! I have had to learn to trust that God will deal with those who I struggle with in my life. Daily I can expect to see how God uses each and every situation... In your own trials, know that our El Roi (the God Who Sees) hears, sees and knows your tears, pleas and heartaches - all of them are carried by the LORD already... praying you can let Him be the only One carrying your burdens.

God forgives us... when we ask and repent... Jesus does not instruct us to forgive ourselves... only our God forgives... and we can receive that in the power of the Holy Spirit. And, as He forgives us, we are to forgive others... and again, we can forgive in the power of the Holy Spirit.

I have so lost my faith in moments when my mind and heart desire to be well with every fiber of my body... yet, my body rebels against those thoughts regularly. BUT GOD IS FAITHFUL, and I am learning and growing closer to Him because of trials, challenges and set backs. But there is progress!
Progress is not always apparent. But when I choose to step out in expectation, I am rewarded by my belief that the LORD is always working... that "He will never leave nor forsake me" because with my Savior, I am "strong in my weakness" AND HE IS ENOUGH...

I don't want to wake up every day and wonder [speculate], "is this the day I will see the miracle in my body?".... I DO want to wake up everyday in AWE of the wonders [amazement, miraculous work or event] of my Creator, while standing in faith daily of the miracle that is my Savior!

"I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me." ~Galatians 2:20 (New American Standard Bible)

Father, help us to be encouraged today and through our time(s) in the desert and uncertainty... You are our hope and reason for this life. Help us to see the things that You have for us to reap, sow and harvest in the midst of EVEN AND ESPECIALLY THIS. WE love You Father and trust Your work and miracles within these bodies. LORD God help us to revel in the possibilities to glorify You, as we fall more deeply in love with You daily. Thank You for the daily opportunities to grow and become Christ-like in our trials. We seek strength and courage to fight our flesh to submit to discouragement and doubt. We seek strength to shine the light that You so graciously pour into our hearts, minds and lives through Your perfect and beautiful Word. Help me to see YOU! Help me to be LIKE YOU! In the hope of Christ's work on our behalf and the wisdom and pursuit of the HOLY SPIRIT in this life as You prepare us for the next. Amen.

Thankful Life - July 15, 2015

"If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love; just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love." ~John 15:10 (New American Standard Bible)

God's love for us is not about keeping the rules, but loving submitting to His love, so His instructions are an honor to follow. We cannot abide in Him without the work of the Holy Spirit in us... it is a life of continual submitting, and knowing that it is when we are weak, we can be our strongest in faith and actions toward God's will in our life.

God not only showed up, He carried me every single day. My obedience to His urgings filled my days with joy and hope – despite all the challenges I went through. It is His Word that gets me through, gets me started and keeps me going.

God is the God of miracles - those we see and those we do not know were accomplished.
The biggest miracle we can experience, is forgiveness.... Forgiveness is a BIG part of healing, emotionally, spiritually and physically. We have to be willing to let go of what we knew, and hold on to what we know as a child of God. It has been a long journey, but I have let go of the times that I once thought to define me. But now I know that it is my relationship with my Creator, Redeemer and the power and work of the Holy Spirit in my life.

You know, this life is not what I had envisioned in many ways, but it is much greater than I ever could have expected...

Praise to God for His Deliverance
"For the music director.
1 Of David, the servant of Yahweh, who spoke to Yahweh the words of this song when Yahweh delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul.1 And he said:“I love you, O Yahweh, my strength.”2 Yahweh is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer,my God, my rock in whom I have taken refuge,my shield and the horn of my deliverance, my stronghold.3 I called upon Yahweh, who is worthy to be praised, and I was saved from my enemies.4 The ropes of death encircled me,and streams of ruin overwhelmed me.5 The ropes of Sheol surrounded me;the snares of death confronted me.6 In my trouble I called on Yahweh, and to my God I cried for help. He heard my voice from his temple, and my cry for help came up before his presence into his ears.7 Then the earth shook and quaked, and the foundations of the mountains trembled, and they staggered because he was angry.8 Smoke went forth from his nose, and fire from his mouth consumed.Burning coals blazed from him. 9 So he bowed the heavens and came down with a thick cloud under his feet.10 And he mounted a cherub and flew, and he swooped down on wings of wind.11 He made darkness his hiding place;all about him his covering was a darkness of waters, thick clouds.12 From the brightness before him his clouds passed over with hail and coals of fire.13 And Yahweh thundered from the heavens, and the Most High uttered his voice with hail and coals of fire.14 And he shot his arrows and scattered them, and many lightning bolts and routed them.15 Then the channels of the sea became visible, and the foundations of the world were uncoveredby your rebuke, O Yahweh,by the blast of the wind of your nose.16 He reached from on high; he seized me.He drew me from many waters.17 He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from those who hated mebecause they were stronger than I.18 They confronted me on the day of disaster, but Yahweh was my support.19 So he brought me out to a spacious place. He delivered me because he delighted in me.20 Yahweh has rewarded me according to my righteousness;According to the cleanness of my handshe has repaid me.21 Because I have kept the ways of Yahweh, and have not acted wickedly against my God,22 because all his ordinances are before me,and his statutes I have not removed from me,23 and I was blameless before him,and I kept myself from my guilt.24 Therefore Yahweh has repaid me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in his sight. 25 To the loyal you show yourself loyal. To the blameless you show yourself blameless. 26 To the pure you show yourself pure.but to the wicked you show yourself shrewd. 27 For you deliver humble people, but haughty eyes you humiliate. 28 For you light my lamp;Yahweh, my God, lights up my darkness. 29 For with you I can charge a troop, and with my God I can scale a wall. 30 This God—his way is blameless. The word of Yahweh is flawless. He is a shield for all those who take refuge in him. 31 For who is God apart from Yahweh, and who is a rock except our God? 32 The God who girded me with strength, and made safe my way, 33 He made my feet like the deer’s,and on my high places he makes me stand. 34 He trains my hands for war,so that my arms can bend a bow of bronze.35 You also gave me the shield of your salvation, and your right hand supported me,and your humility made me great.36 You enlarged my step under me,and my ankles did not slip. 37 I chased my enemies and overtook them;I did not turn back until they were finished off. 38 I struck them and they were not able to stand up;they fell under my feet. 39 And you girded me with strength for the battle;those rising against me you made to kneel under me. 40 And you made my enemies turn their backs, then I destroyed those who hated me. 41 They cried out but there was no rescuer, even to Yahweh, but he did not answer them.42 And I ground them like dust in the wind,I emptied them out like mud of the streets. 43 You rescued me from strife with people;you set me as head (over) nations. People I did not know served me;44 as soon as they heard, they obeyed me. The children of a foreign land feigned obedience before me. 45 The children of a foreign land lost heart, and they came trembling from their strongholds.46 Yahweh lives, and blessed be my rock, and may the God of my salvation be exalted—47 the God who executed vengeance for me,and subdued peoples under me,48 who delivered me from my enemies.Indeed, you exalted me higher than those who rose against me.You delivered me from the man of violence. 49 Therefore I will give thanks to you among the nations, O Yahweh, and I will sing the praise of your name: 50 the one who makes great victories for his king, and who shows loyal love for his anointed,to David and to his descendants forever."
God is so much greater than our expectations or assumptions. Whatever you think... rethink, know, God is greater, God doesn't think or respond like me or (fill in the blank of someone you know)... He loves you so much.

Giving Thanks Daily - Nancy Nygaard, Guest Writer

God’s Grace in Difficult Circumstances
by Nancy Nygaard
July 13, 2015

When we fix our eyes upon Jesus He shows us how He walked the road God had prepared for Him. He told us that in this world we would have trouble, but take heart because He has overcome the world (for us). He may not remove our burdens presently, but He "will" walk through them with us (the Bible is full of examples of Him doing this). Paul, and other disciples, showed us a beautiful examples of how God took what satan meant for evil and turned it into good in the lives of His followers (Romans 8:28). We have been filled with the same Holy Spirit that empowered Jesus' disciples. God will use what He has allowed for His glory. The Bible says that our earthly burdens are light and momentary compared to what we will experience in heaven! Our hope is in Christ Jesus brothers and sisters. You are His beloved, precious, cherished children in whom He is doing a new thing!

"See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland." ~ Isaiah 43:19 (NIV)

I wanted to share with you changes God is making in my life - maybe He’s done the same for you? God changes hearts that are yielded to Him no matter what circumstances we find ourselves in. This is my personal faith journey over the past 20 plus years.

After an automobile accident in 1994, a couple of years later, I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia when the pain did not resolve with treatment. A year before that I found out I had Hepatitis-C which my body spontaneously cleared – a miracle from God!

More recently I have been diagnosed with Lyme disease (not active so I guess it's been there a while undetected). I have lived with chronic pain that eventually changed the things I depended on the most - my career that gave me security allowing me to believe I was in control (pride), my ability to do simple things for myself making me dependent on others (independence), and the belief that I could change this terrible madness that was happening in my life if only I could find the right… (I tried to control what was happening)? The good news is that God transformed these areas of my life.

God changed my pride into submission as I learned to truly trust Him to provide the next meal and literally everything else in my life. He changed my stubborn independence into dependence as He surrounded me with the caring fellowship of other believers. He gave me a grateful, humble heart filled with compassion for others. He changed my belief that "I" could make the madness that was my life go away and gave me peace to know that He would walk with me through whatever I faced each day. When I feel myself slipping back into this attitude, or feeling the need to “be in control” I remind myself of His assurance me that He will provide what I “need” – not to be confused with what I “want”. I take my concerns to God in prayer knowing that all things are possible for Him. No matter what happens to this body in this world my HOPE is in Jesus Christ! To God be the Glory! Satan cannot take away the victory our Savior has already won for us!

From Hepatitis-C to Fibromyalgia to Lyme Disease! The pieces of the puzzle are beginning to fit together. My journey of faith has become stronger through this as God brings me into a deeper and deeper understanding of who He is. For twenty plus years chronic pain has been my companion. Over the years it has been labeled many different things as previously mentioned - the most recent label - Lyme disease. After each label I fought to have control of my life "in my own understanding". I did all the right things - stopped unhealthy habits, added healthy habits, avoided things that could cause more hurt (while losing a part of my life that brought joy). The chaos this caused mentally was devastating. In the back of my mind was always the thought, what new cure will restore me? The turning point came for me when I acknowledged that God is in control of my life, not me. This brought peace that passes human understanding (John 14:27). He has already restored me through the blood of His Son Jesus Christ. He loves me and has told me that His grace is sufficient for me in "all" circumstances (2 Corinthians 12:9). When I discover that I am struggling with my circumstances, I turn it over to Him in prayer to the God for whom all things are possible (Philippians 4:6; Matt.19:26).

All of this to say, I no longer fret but instead cast my cares upon Him. I trust in His love and faithfulness to those who love Him (Romans 8:28). My dear brothers and sisters I pray all of the same for you. God's promises are true. Satan's lies are not. God will never leave you alone - forsaken (John 14:18). He is your portion and your strength (Psalm 46:1). Run into His arms and be held!

Thankful Life - Why It's Important

Looking at Things Differently
Thankful Life - Why It's Important

I believe when someone makes a decision to “finally” get the help they deserve, it’s all out research, asking questions, absorbing, more questions, disappointment, dead-ends and doubt… all the while, coming against opposition in some form: This can come from doctors, co-workers/employers, friends and family. So, how do we do this thing called “getting well”?

At some point you have to step back away from it all to really see what you have before you. Which brings up yet more opposition – our mind and our ability to comprehend necessity and need, while addressing and working with huge cognitive issues and challenges… honestly, it’s just hard. Seems impossible. And is a very lonely process for many. But it’s not.

Lyme disease does not accommodate structure or clarity, so trying to make sense of it becomes a losing proposition. So, when evaluating what steps to take, we need to have our own basic structure in place to work through the emotional and the physical, while having the tools necessary to meet our Spiritual needs and growth.
In November 2008, I was challenged to “give thanks daily” during Thanksgiving month. I really felt led to comply after several nudges and promptings from God. I began the journey of Giving Thanks Daily on November 3, 2008, and wrote, and wrote and wrote daily… for 775 days straight, then God released the daily, and I now write as led or energy permits.  That same year, I went from sick to very sick in a matter of 2 months.  I had been self-employed for 9 years doing financial coaching, so sleeping in, taking naps and creating my own schedule worked well with being sick, and hiding it from everyone. On June 5th, 2008, I started a full time job (in ministry) was a perfect fit and was just what God had planned… the building I worked in “smelled musty and mildewy” and I knew there was a mold issue and complained profusely, but I needed the job. Every day I dealt with severe migraines, nausea and anxiety. I had become a professional complainer… not out loud, mind you, deep in my heart in attitude and thought. It was consuming me. The broken glass under the skin sensations throughout my body, increased and my thought is because I was also beginning to get warn down, fatigued and undone mentally. Believe it or not, I did my job well, but was having trouble with my boss, which is something I had never dealt with. Stress, stress and more stress. I was going to church, studying the bible, worshiping and listening to Christian Teaching and Talk radio all day… trying to fill my mind with God’s Word and knowing His promises are truly for me.

Back to the act of Giving Thanks Daily – it saved my life… this is not an exaggeration, but a true testimony of God working things out for His good and glory. So, I committed to writing every day… finding the good in everything. Pushing through to “get that purpose accomplished” – and I did. From this God urged me to "be encouraged, by encouraging others", and a Facebook-based ministry began with the Wonderfully Made page, and subsequently 5 other pages with 30-40 volunteers learning and growing in the same way.

God not only showed up, He carried me every single day. My obedience to His urgings filled my days with joy and hope – despite all the challenges I went through.

On June 3rd, 2013, I started a new job at the local Christian Teaching and Talk radio station I listened to everyday at my previous job, and have listened to since the day after I was saved. The change in environment helped, but within 6 months, I was back to all the symptoms I had had before, plus flat out exhausted, wobbly legged and devastated… You see, I had slowly stopped writing daily, wrote weekly, then on occasion. I had allowed the enemy to whittle away at my hope, dampen my spirits… BUT NO MORE!!!

I am not writing this to say how awesome I am… or how good I am because I did this or that. I am sharing this to testify that GOD DID IT ALL. He put the words to the page, the hope in my heart and the desire to keep my focus right. My prayer every day is that someone else can see what God has shown me; that the gift of being grateful is something God said is freely shared and gifted to others. My prayer is that pain and circumstances are noted, but hope and joy are lived out, and the Holy Spirit shines victory these times of living in this broken world – in this tattered, hurting, confusing and broken body knowing that this is temporary, but He is permanent.
And I am His!
Much love in Christ Jesus,
Shawn Boreta

As a child of God, you have power and strength to fight all evil. Exercise that power and strength, in Jesus' name and in the full power of the Holy Spirit." ~Shawn Boreta, 2013

Thankful Tidbits - Jordyn Michaels - July 10, 2015

Sometimes I feel like God specifically designs trials with my name on them! And my natural response is resistance. I don’t like trials. I’m not comfortable and sometimes they even hurt. I know in my head that God does NOT make mistakes... HE NEVER says ‘oops’ or ‘I shouldn’t have done that’.  God knows my weaknesses and character defects and He knows what it takes to help me grow...and He does for you as well....aren’t you thankful that He loves us enough to NEVER let up or give up. God is more concerned with our character than He is our comfort.
He ALWAYS has our best in mind. You may be in the middle of a trial or being tested right now.
Know this...
God’s at work!  The hurts and trials of our lives are never wasted. God is purposeful in all He does and all He allows. He is all together trustworthy....and His love for us is incomprehensible. Today I WILL, with God’s help,  "Give thanks in all circumstances for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus". ~1 Thessalonians 5:18
It’s ALL good...
God’s in control!

Always Thankful,

Psalm 37 - Hand it over...

My Life is a Prayer - July 9, 2015

Father, as I come to You this morning and I am amazed! Thank You for bringing me through a wakeful God was preparing me all day for a night of no sleep!

The LORD is really working on me with this. I want to lament about my own challenges, more than pray for others... so it's a decision to pray first... He is good, and I have been so blessed by His ministering to me during these struggles. For struggles I am fortunate to have a BIG GOD who sees me through every circumstances.

As I lamented last night... GOD SHOWED UP, yet God never left me.

"Pain everywhere, like broken glass under the skin. Much stirred up after the lymphatic drainage massage yesterday! Quick onset of a bladder infection that 90% of the time becomes a kidney infection when they are like this. Quick 180 in IBS symptoms - abdominal pain, chest pains, tingling, twitching, achy joints, mouth sores, fever/sweats and TMJ throbbing... And no relief from the ringing ears. And I have to be a at work tomorrow.

Your strength is expected Lord Jesus as I prepare my heart, mind and attitude for tomorrow! Help me to be still.. Focus on Your goodness as you take this yoke and remove "the weary"... I AM YOURS - gratefully Yours. Be with my brothers and sisters in the same force and power - let it be a night of miracles and hope through the Holy Spirit"s work as we rest... Our gatekeeper toward removing the world and reveling in the truth that WE ARE YOUR BELOVED AND LOVED! Thank You Jesus for being here in this way, in this time. Amen.and restless sleep with Your peace and comfort. You are my every bit of strength as I head out today." ~Last night's prayer

Dear Hearts - God has not abandoned you, and He knows every tear... every pain.... every doubt. He's got you. HE LOVES YOU!

My life is a prayer, and I cannot imagine anything else!

Thankful Tidbits - July 9, 2015

God is the one who has won... the enemy will work tirelessly to distract you from your calling... it will look like many things, yet we have to fight submission to the things that will take our eyes off of our purpose. It is a moment to moment fight - don't be deceived in thinking that the busyness and illness and family matters are all that God has planned for you. Sometimes you have to step away from circumstances of life to live the life that Jesus died for. Living in despair, doubt, fear and being overwhelmed is not included in the plans of our Creator.

You are a child of the King... loved, adored, protected, healed, victorious...

"You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden" ~Matthew 5:14 (New American Standard Bible)

God desires us to live for Him, despite the distractions.
God desires us to live for Him, knowing that there will be distractions.
God desires us to live for Him, understanding that we will not know how to manage distractions.
God desires us to live for Him, because He provided a way.

"I tell you these things to help you; I am not putting difficulties in your path but setting before you an ideal, so that your service of God may be as far as possible free from worldly distractions." ~1 Corinthians 7:35 (J.B. Phillips New Testament)

My prayer is that we will all learn to live for Christ in a way that is hopeful, joyful, fearless, confident and expectant. My prayer is for all of us to shine through the challenges and live victoriously!

"While I am in the world, I am the Light of the world." ~John 9:5 (New American Standard Bible)

Have a great and thankful day....

Thankful Tidbits - July 8, 2015

Walking in grace and living Christ-like means more than quoting scripture and talking about God. It is approaching difficult people realizing that your "shared moments" together are not their only moments of their day. That difficult person may have just received devastating news, had a fight with their kids or spouse or may be in chronic pain... You never know how God will use you to minister to their heartache and pain... and guess who else God ministers to?

Let us walk in grace and lead with our heart for God.

Have a great and thankful day....

Thankful Life - July 8, 2015

There are so many days I really want to pull the covers over my head and sleep, sleep, sleep. But I know God has another plan for this day, which is new and belongs to Him.

"God showed how much he loved us by sending His one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through Him." -1 John 4:9 (New Living Translation)

I have been weary... fighting this fight, instead of leaving it up to my Heavenly Father... I want to let it all go, and rest in Him... so tonight when I get home... that is exactly what I am going to do.

I had a date night with myself last night, while my husband went to the San Francisco Giant’s game. I read a little, talked to God a little, and then talked with Him some more.  It was a delightful time.

Yesterday was a normal, yet again, the new normal for this week kind of day. It began with my first therapy session – lymphatic drainage massage. My therapist, a lovely sister in Christ from church – now only God could orchestrate something that awesome, right? Laying of hands… and yes, “laying of hands” has an entirely new meaning for me. We talked as she administered treatment, had amazing fellowship sharing, and the time went by very quickly. Then off to work. All is good, and God’s mercies are greatly appreciated daily.

And today, with God, I was off and running toward another victorious day. Beginning in prayer, as that is how every day should start and STAYING THE COURSE...

Thank You Father for brothers and sisters in the same fight, who can share, love and pray for one another. Thank You for giving us life ever after, and hope in this life to fight through. Help us LORD God to seek You in the midst of our trials, and to remember the victories and triumphs in our challenges. Through others, we look forward to seeing light and hope, and through our expectations because WE ARE YOURS, guide us to seeing You at all times. You are our Redeemer, our HEALER, our ROCK...

Staying the Course
 "My child, be attentive to my words;
to my sayings incline your ear.
May they not escape from your sight;[eyes]
keep them in the midst of your heart.
For they are life to those who find them
and healing to the entire body.[for all his flesh] ~Proverbs 4:20-22 (Lexham English Bible)

Abba, we do not have to go far to see the brokenness, illness and heartache, help us in our times that we "feel" alone to squash the thoughts that are not of You. Help us to see through the physical pain and anguish so we can find peace in the struggle, joy in the sorrow that is Lyme disease and all that goes with it. We cry out, call upon and trust that You are here, and we are Yours. We ask to only "touch the hem of Your garment", "lift up our mats", STIR THE WATERS WITHIN OUR BODIES, as you did in Bethesda. ALMIGHTY FATHER, Jehovah Rophi - (God Who Heals)... See us LORD, hear us LORD, deliver us LORD... El Roi is the God Who Sees Me, and we know You see us, hear us and we are already delivered through the blood of Christ Jesus, yet we desire Your healing touch here in these physical bodies. We pray for solutions, help us to open our eyes, ears and hearts to see YOUR path. Help us to depend on and go to the source already inside us THAT IS THE HOLY SPIRIT... our strength, to give us courage.... TO CONTINUE THIS FIGHT. Let us KNOW, TRULY KNOW Your healing power as we desire to go deeper in the WORD. To trust, abide and walk as we are called - even and especially in our suffering.

"But as it is written: ‘Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love him’. But God has, through the Spirit, let us share his secret.
"For nothing is hidden from the Spirit, not even the deep wisdom of God. For who could really understand a man’s inmost thoughts except the spirit of the man himself? How much less could anyone understand the thoughts of God except the very Spirit of God? And the marvelous thing is this, that we now receive not the spirit of the world but the Spirit of God himself, so that we can actually understand something of God’s generosity towards us." ~1 Corinthians 2:10-12 (J.B. Phillips New Testament )

We come to You a wholly LORD in the mighty name and FINISHED WORK OF Christ Jesus, amen.

These are tough times, and many moments seem unbearable… but with Christ, they are never dark or bleak. He will carry me, this I know for He promised. Give every moment to Him. Ask Him to help you remember the times where He has seen you through. It’s our time to give Him our best – and really we cannot do our best without His work in our hearts, minds…. In our thoughts and in our life.

I’m ready to surrender this life wholly to my Redeemer, because He lives, I will live better in this life – even AND especially through trials.

In our own "darkest of times", we may be the only light shined into someone else's life.

"You are like that illuminating light. Let your light shine everywhere you go, that you may illumine creation, so men and women everywhere may see your good actions, may see creation at its fullest, may see your devotion to Me, and may turn and praise your Father in heaven because of it." ~Matthew 5:16 (The Voice)

Thankful Life - Helping A Friend

I know you have been following my own journey, and I am so grateful for your prayers and I am so fortunate to have the treatment options I have thus far... I really felt led to share this, and completely trust God to direct the right friends to help.

  • See this little fighter?
  • She has Lyme, and so many challenges associated with the disease.
  • Her mom, Monique needs your help to help Penelope.

Monique's note to me.
Dear Shawn,

This has been a super tough journey, especially watching both of my kids battle this disease. I was diagnosed 5 years ago, possibly had it a lifetime. Penelope & Justin were both diagnosed within the last 2 years. None of us have properly committed to treatment, as financially we are compromised and because we are on State Medical, insurance is not accepted. I have done all I know to do.

It seems obstacles are always in our path. I am tired. Really, really tired and although I love God and have faith, watching my kids suffer is horrible. Doctors ignore us, maybe because they don't really understand, or are afraid to understand. I can't afford the Lyme literate doctors anymore and none of us have been tested in a long while. I watch Penelope suffer when the world is clueless of what she endures. People think since she is always smiling, she is great. They have no idea, how hard it takes me to keep her spirit in check. They don't see her when she is crying out with nightmares, hallucinations. When she is crying because her bones hurt. They don't see them protruding from her spine, they so see the sparkly pretty girl in pink. They don't have a clue of her anxiety, that her bouncing is a response to anxieties. They just assume because of her spirit she is not sick.
I don't want her sick… I want her well. I want her normal.
There are so many things I have witnessed since her birth, digestive issues, MTHFR detoxing issues, thyroid on and so forth. The time spent trying to feed her, the cost… Healthy Diet. I cannot take for granted what we eat, it is what has helped keep pain at bay. I speak so much for Penelope because she is young and she has a real chance. Yet 7 years has passed and Lyme & confections have advanced. Most of my family & friends don't believe us, if they do, they hide it because they don't know what to do... it is sad.
I praise God for my son, whom without him, we would be at a total loss, but remember he too is sick, diagnosed the same. I have had a few people help us. They are precious. It was in the beginning though and those finances were gone as soon as they were received, when all this began. I have tried to save money out of my low income, Justin tries to work part-time, but the need keeps growing.
I keep praying. I don't want sympathy, I want empathy, compassion and Penelope needs help. I want God to send his people; those who are willing to look beneath. Keep praying for us Shawn. I am happy we met. I won't even mention the challenges of my own illness, the obstacles of moldy houses, broken down cars, rent, electricity, these things postpone our recovery. Thank you for listening. Love ya!

Please consider helping this family get their medical journey started again. Please share with others, and come together for our sister in Christ.

I will donate a print (Dwell in Him 11x14-unframed) to the first 15 people who gives $150.
