Giving Thanks Daily (1)

I am finding it difficult to begin and stay focused on writing daily. So, when this happens, I will take the approach of keeping things simple... Today, I'm simply thankful.

"The Similes of Salt and Light.[By their deeds the disciples are to influence the world for good. They can no more escape notice than a city set on a mountain. If they fail in good works, they are as useless as flavorless salt or as a lamp whose light is concealed]“You are the salt of the earth. But if salt loses its taste, with what can it be seasoned? It is no longer good for anything but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.[The unusual supposition of salt losing its flavor has led some to suppose that the saying refers to the salt of the Dead Sea that, because chemically impure, could lose its taste.]  You are the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket; it is set on a lampstand, where it gives light to all in the house. Just so, your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father."
-Matthew 5:13-16 New American Bible (Revised Edition) (NABRE)

If we awake with a thought of gratitude, it can change our entire day... and a changed day, can create a beautiful life.

We are called to be light and salt... so, today, and the next day, and the next... "Let your light shine".  Lord, help me to let my Your light in me shine, shine, shine.

Not only are we called, but we can be the light when we tap into He who is "for us".

Today, I am grateful that I belong to my Creator. I am grateful that I know of His gift of salvation.

Father, help me to know Your Word more deeply, and let my life reflect "know You"!
