My intentions are to write every day, yet my heart isn't connecting with my mind to grasp the habit. Lord, I am grateful. I am living a thankful life - and I truly want to share with others. Help me to re-habitualize the act of gratitude through writing.
As I was praying about and pondering my writing exercise, this note came into my inbox... Darci has been a frequent guest writer, and is an amazing friend and sister in Christ.
"I read this verse and thought about what my marriage went through last year - “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”” -Exodus 14:14 NIV
In chapter 14 God has instructed Moses to lead his people out of Egypt. People were so scared... “Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again.” -Exodus 14:13 NIV
God responded to the fear in verse 14: “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” -Exodus 14:14
Obviously, they escaped Pharoah and eventually made it to the promised land. When I left Leo, I had to leave knowing it could be possible that my marriage could be over. Leo seemed like “my enemy” but I held out hope deep down in my heart. However, I had to go forward with my life as if I’d never see my marriage again.
As you know, God did fight for me...for my marriage. It’s one of those times that God's words leap off the pages of the Bible and come alive!! -Darci Escandon
Many times I run to the LORD... with this exact verse.
"This is what I know about my creator, no matter what the struggle, whether it is pain, heartbreak or just quieting my mind, He is there to take it on for me or with me, whatever my need. So I am reassured with His words again, “The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.” ~ Exodus 14:14 (NIV) (Day 575)
Our minds are very powerful, and sometimes in my “odd” way of reprogramming, I have had to look at descriptive words very differently – today, that word is exhaustion. There is a huge conflict at times, my mind and my attitude say, “Not today!” And, I suck it up and move on. There are other days, like today, my body answers with, “TODAY, let’s fight.” I was reminded that those are “fighting words”, “The LORD will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.” ~Exodus 14:14 (NKJV) (Day 699)
Are you dealing with daily pain? Emotional build up? Hurt that just won't release?"The LORD shall fight for you, and you shall hold your peace." ~Exodus 14:14 (King James Version ©2003)
As we come to Him, we can openly and heart-fully ask for His strength, courage, comfort and wisdom to bring you through whatever the pain is.
Today is a new day. Every moment is a new moment. Bring each day and each moment to Him. (Day 976)
So, today is a new day... live well in every moment because you are His.
