As I sit to write this part of the book, I am overwhelmed with warmth, love and edification. This journey was not planned, yet, has become very intentional and so much a part of my life’s purpose. With the truth being told through my Creator’s work in my life, a life that I am eternally grateful to have. My first thanks has to be to God for allowing me to grow, discover and build daily in this adventure.

There are so many people to thank, I could not possibly remember them all, nor would there be room. However, I will do my best to highlight those closest to me, and the process.  My husband, who calls me the Facebook Queen and with good reason, for putting up with all the late hours and many, many times I say, “One more minute…”, while I finish that last sentence. Chris, you are the love of my life and I appreciate you so much. My amazing daughter, who reads on a whim, even when she does not have time – thanks for being so much more than just my daughter, I love you and I am grateful for your opinions, insights and improvements. Dana, my best friend for life and sister, I cannot thank you appropriately – thank you for always being here, especially from the beginning to the end of one adventure and in this one. I am grateful for my mentor and coach, you know who you are – and so much has changed through your teaching and support. For making sure we always “do the right thing” in the ministry, a very special thanks to Sue and Tina, my online ministry partners, for pushing, correcting, loving, applauding and your never-ending love. And, finally my amazing friend, Julie whom I get to grow in new ways with a new adventures.

As importantly, I want to thank all of you who have supported my writing and online ministry pages on Facebook. You are lovely, amazing people who have encouraged me through this journey. You are many and so important to me. I pray for you, and not only are you my friends, but you are my family in Christ.

Special Thanks
There have been some amazing people who have given me inspiration through their writing, friendship and encouragement, and who God used to push me along and lift me when needed. Thank you all. Sue King, Tina Wetor, Ron McIntyre, Julie Gorman, Grace Heatwole, Diza Matheson, Steve Wickham, Tammy Maltby, John Bruce and Mark Brown.

Thank you, John Meyer, Meyer Photography for doing an amazing job with my ministry photos (http://www.meyerphotography.com).

And a very special thanks to my amazing friend, Cindi Michalak, who did a wonderful job editing

About Me
Greetings and welcome to my life, at least tidbits of it. It is an honor that you have decided to read some of my story. My life is average and ordinary, by most accounts. And yet, because of who I am I lead an extraordinary life. Since I was in high school, I have thought of writing a book to reflect and grow and share; so for now, articles will have to do - to look back on the humor and substance of it all, even with the pain and the tear filled memories still very fresh and alive in my mind, I laugh and smile. My journey in writing these words is both self-healing and self-expressive. I believe that everyone has their own voice, a voice that sometimes others need to hear or a vision that must be shared or words that just need to be put down for one’s own accomplishment. If these words are read by three sets of eyes, my mom’s, my husband’s and my daughter’s, then my mission is accomplished.

There are many things in my life that I cannot explain and, for the first time, it is okay. This is not a “story” of my past, however who I am is because of His work through my past; it is a love story - an “absolutely” amazing love story. I am in the middle of it.  If you know Christ, you, too, can tell the same story. Are you encouraged?

Well, get this with Jesus, “it is finished”. Nothing more is to be done… now does that mean we are idle? No, it means we work for the kingdom in gratitude of His finished work. Wow!

Forty-six years ago, I entered into the world, helpless, defenseless and dependent. And nothing has changed today.

Everything I need has nothing at all to do with me. I am grateful that this realization arrived about nine years ago. This realization came through a question – “Do you believe in heaven?”

I have been on this journey for 767 days of Giving Thanks Daily, and it has completely changed my life. I am in the process of publishing a daily devotional – and on this journey of giving thanks, God has revealed many miracles in my life – which for without gratitude I would have missed them.

Let me introduce myself. My name is Shawn Delia Boreta, and in these pages is a little bit of my life.
How the title came about: On day 438 of Giving Thanks Daily, which is my daily blog, the following words rushed to the screen from my fingertips –   “It’s all about me”.

It’s All About Me
January 26th, Day 438 of Giving Thanks

“It is all about me!” were my thoughts as I sat quietly listening for God, this morning, and immediately, I said, “change the thought, that can’t be what I just heard”. Yet, it came again as I arrived at work.

“He must become greater; I must become less.” ~John 3:30

Right now, because I am so focused on what my thoughts are, I am often reminded of how powerful words are. I am still amazed by how much I am encouraged by words and how truly revealing it is to be encouraged… I don’t know about you, but I can still remember words from my childhood – the challenge is that they are usually not “words of encouragement”, rather they are demeaning, mean or downright destructive words. And, most of the time, delivered by “well meaning” people – who probably have the same words in their memory, yet right at the surface beating them up. It is in the words that we speak to ourselves that form our lives. Lord, I look for sweet words of encouragement to run through my thoughts.

“She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.” ~Proverbs 31:26

This is where short term memory comes into play, and taking things one day at a time. Even though the “old” programming was from long ago, and I thought was so deeply embedded is being removed. And, the sweetness of Your words are what renew the mind and spirit.

“Your lips drop sweetness as the honeycomb, my bride; milk and honey are under your tongue. The fragrance of your garments is like the fragrance of Lebanon.” ~Song of Solomon 4:11

I had to learn, and I continue to train myself to reprogram what words I replay in my head – really, what I allow in my head.  It is change brought by the power of God’s work in us, which transforms our lives. On our own, we can change much in our lives what typically changes right back somewhere down the line. It is through submission and dependence on Him that the reward is experienced.

“We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” ~2 Corinthians 10:5

What is the reward? IT IS PEACE. It is comfort in all circumstances. It is joy even in sorrowful moments. It is hope as the bills pile up. It is light on the darkest of nights. It is living and knowing that you will not die.

Change – the words of the enemy to the promises of God; discouragement to encouragement; cannot do to already done; impossible to possible; dark to light; all alone to never alone; ignorant and naïve to discerning and wise; sick or ill to vibrant; tired and weary to great power and energy. Words and thoughts that wholly transform are on my mind, and I pray on yours, too.

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will.” ~Romans 12:2

“It is all about me!” Yes it is. He died, because I could not live the life necessary to be with my heavenly Father in eternity, so Jesus died for me. And, in my walk, it is all about me realizing what God has planned for me, what purpose has been perfectly set aside for me to do. It is all about me discovering who He made me to be. And, it’s about you, too.

“And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into His image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” ~2 Corinthians 3:18

For me, it is living a life that reflects the magnitude of thankfulness because of all He did and does for me. There are no words, or works, that can repay, or can be a reward for God. But He is pleased when we “get it”, and when we truly believe that He has given everything for each of us and for that, there are no words big enough, mighty enough, powerful enough or perfect enough to tell the depth of gratitude I have in my heart.

These are just a few samples of the books pages. The book is free to those who request it, all I ask is that you share your faith as the Holy Spirit directs you daily. You do this, by seeking His wisdom, by reading His word - not on occasion, but daily and on purpose. Thank you for allowing me to share Him with you.

Dear God,
Thank You for coming along with me today, I felt You all day.

When my schedule started to fall apart, I heard You say,

"Be calm, your day will work... be patient, ponder in your thoughts...

take in your surroundings."

Tonight as I get ready to close my eyes, I dwell in You again;

thank You, God, for coming along with me tonight...

for filling my dreams, guarding my heart and renewing

my hope for tomorrow...

me.

Time for Rest
It is time to shut the day off - to prepare my mind for rest.

Father, I thank You for this wonderful day.  Thank You for taking this journey with me, that I know Your presence along my path.
Tonight as I close my eyes, I picture Your outstretched arms, ready to cradle me in, to shut out all that was harsh or wrong in my day. I embrace all the times Your angels protected me and all the moments when I came to You. It is rest I seek, true, wonderful rest in You.

Grief to Glory!

There are no words to describe the grieving of my heart or the depth of pain that penetrates my soul. The stabbing deeply into the wounds that already exist can only be removed by the wounds of the hands that went before me, by the savior who felt this pain before me, grieved so painfully before me, and died so wonderfully for me. It is in the times, Lord, when I cannot formulate my words that coming to YOU truly brings comfort to my soul. It is when I cannot speak and my tongue is unable to calculate the movement necessary for words to come out of my mouth, that is when I see the majesty of YOU.

For You do not require words from my mouth to stand before You and lay out the hurts of my life and seek Your healing, Your love, Your tenderness, Your promises – for it is in You that I place all my trust. And when I am in Your presence, and I am wrapped securely in Your promises of healing, restoration and wholeness, I am hopeful and joy enters my heart. For it is in these times that I know my Heavenly Father’s desires for me to be wholly His and to glorify Him through the transformation from grief to glory

As I transform from grief to glory, it is Your presence I seek and the majesty of Your love, Your tenderness and Your promises that I hang on to. Father, thank You for loving me tenderly and giving me the promises that keep me moving forward. Through everything, Father, I am grateful to be Your child, the daughter of the King - honored to have a life filled with hope that the desires of my heart have importance in Your eyes.

And, Father, as I place all my trust in You, and I let go of the fear and the anxiety of “what if” or “why”, I can be assured that my life has purpose and direction, even when, and especially when, I do not see how this will all play out. For it is Your plan and purpose of my existence here that I hold on to even when, and especially when, I have no understanding of how it will all come together.

In the Moment
As the evening slips into the dark of night, I come to You, Father, in moments when I can let go of the worries of the world, the fears I may harbor, the moments of uncertainty - all this, Lord, I lay down at Your feet, and whisper "what is mine, Father, I gladly take and trust that I will be strengthened to handle them - what I cannot handle I know that my mighty God will take over."

In this moment, I enter rest.
In this moment, I know Your tender heart.
In this moment, I revel in Your presence.
In this moment, I am aware of how much You have set aside for me.
In this moment, I am silent and now I am ready to listen and hear what You have for me.

You’ve Got It All…
"Just think—you don't need a thing, you've got it all!
“All God's gifts are right in front of you as you wait expectantly for our Master Jesus to arrive on the scene for the Finale.
“And not only that, but God himself is right alongside to keep you steady and on track until things are all wrapped up by Jesus.
“God, who got you started in this spiritual adventure, shares with us the life of his Son and our Master Jesus. He will never give up on you. Never forget that."
~1 Corinthians 1:9 (The Message)

"Therefore you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed. He will also keep you firm to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

“God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord."
 ~1 Corinthians 1:9 (NIV)

A Letter to My Children
My wonderful people, don't you hear Me yet?
I am calling out to you; My love is pure, given freely.
I am calling to you, to cry out to Me.
I am your God, your Father in Heaven. Jesus was sent,
died and rose for "you".

You ask, "what is the answer, why am I here?"
I tell you, I do have your answers; your purpose was laid out in the beginning.

Come to Me and I will share it with you.

Love,
your heavenly Father.

The Transformation Can Be Easy or Hard...
Our lives can be lived with the eyes of the world or through the eyes that God gives us. And every day our vision gets better, because as we get to know Him, our perspective about our life here changes. We transform.

We cannot be bystanders in this life. We cannot allow life to happen to us, that’s when it is hard. We must allow God to move. That is done by putting all of our trust in Him. Not because we have to, but because He desires us to.

"But blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in Him." ~Jeremiah 17:7

Webster’s Dictionary has 58 definitions for hard, that shows me that the word “hard” is quite flexible, unlike the definition we read.
Hard
#6: involving a great deal of effort, energy or persistence: hard labor; hard study.
#7: transformation or carrying on work with great effort, energy, or persistence;  a hard worker.
#8: vigorous or violent in force; severe: a hard rain; a hard fall.

We are in a battle; battles take a great deal of effort, but again, who is in control? Am I confronting my life or submitting it?

I can choose another word for hard, like exciting, revealing, interesting, fascinating, etc.; OR I can change my definition of hard all together – I will choose other words – I must always REMEMBER, all of my words are words of testimony to whoever hears them. My life, and how I live my life, is an example. Is it an example or a warning?

What sounds better? "My life is so hard." or "My life is revealing?"

There is the saying, 'pain of regret, or pain from change’; the latter is the easier (but never easy), I remember many days, when I was dealing with the same things I am dealing with now (health, family, job, issues in general, daily life), and I can tell you my life used to be hard and very cyclical. For me going to a mighty God, laying every single thing before Him, is easy.

In Matthew 11:29 (NIV), God says, "Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls." He is there to take on what we cannot - that is great assurance and peace of mind. Peace of mind says it all.  How can anything be hard with peace of mind and an assurance of my future?

"So I think we should get as much out of life as we possibly can. There is nothing better than to enjoy our food and drink and to have a good time. Then we can make it through this troublesome life that God has given us here on earth." ~Ecclesiastes 8:15 (CEV)

He promises that our life here will not be easy, and at the same time commands us to "enjoy life." We cannot have joy when we dwell in the hard. Living life with attitude for me, is living life with a good attitude, and the only reason I can do that is because I know this life is my "temporary" life, and although I am in the present, and living it, I do know there is something amazing and more than I can ever imagine waiting. The reward is not in this life but the next.

I choose to recognize my circumstances, but live for the reward. Our circumstances are what they are. We can complain our way through life and dwell on “life is so hard”, or run with life is an adventure, and yes, I will go through much, but I will never go through anything without the protection, provision and presence of my Creator.

In the Mirror - Whose Child?
I remember being pretty young the first time the thought "I am too fat", popped into my head. And ever since then, that voice sneaks in from the dark. Today I heard a song that someone posted on Facebook (Jonny Diaz, "More Beautiful You"). The timing could not have been more perfect. As I sat in my chair thinking how much different I would like to look, and what would my thoughts be if the darkness never crept in?

How would I view that woman in the mirror if I truly believed that I am created in God's image? I would be thrilled to be here, at this time.

I truly believe that it is "ok" to want changes in my life, but I also know that it is not in my best interest to continually beat myself up over my failures. I have heard that our minds are like records that the grooves are formed and as both good and bad information are played in our mind, that the groove becomes deeper. I have prayed for filler for many of these grooves. I have been fighting the canyon that has been carved since my gymnastic coach said to me, "can't you get your fat a** off the ground?" Mind you, I was about ten, and if I weighed 70 pounds that would have been a high guess.

As a girl in our society today, my heart is broken for those who are fighting the same battle. Somehow when I became a Christian, I thought that the pain and obstacles would become easier; and I would say they haven't become more challenging in regards to my thinking, but the thinking has become a different challenge. The battle of who God says I am and the voice of the enemy are in conflict.

I imagine a young girl as these perfect images of who she could be pop into her head; and how all the media and slang of today are enablers to the enemy’s mission. Tear her down, make her feel unworthy, dirty, foul and so broken.

My battle has been fought for many years, and at times I have been covered in turmoil and hidden by fear. The fear that people will know, that I will be judged and mocked. That I will be misunderstood, then I come to the realization that I don't understand, so why would anyone else see anything different?

My journey continues, and many hurdles have been conquered. And I am hopeful that my journey will be worth it, and as I see my Lord, some day, He will agree.

My Status
Status: God's child, daughter/son of the King.
At home in His presence.
And there is no place like home.
Wherever you are from, whatever you have experienced, whatever cloth you believe you were "cut from", know this, we are all of the same heritage, "cut from the same cloth". It is what we do with our life that determines the clothing we wear.
I choose to be robed in His presence, and the fit is perfect for me.

Ashes to Beauty
·       Today, we put our past, my bucket of ashes, into the compost.
·       Today, the good we have learned will germinate; think of all the pain as fertilizer.
·       Today, the process that began the day you were born continues.
·       YOU are blooming into the most amazing creation of God.

My reflection in the mirror is today, not yesterday, and not the future. It is in the “here and now”. Stop today and ask God to show you the true reflection of who you are. As I reflect on Him, I see that amazing transformation from the insecure little girl we started with. “I will not fear though tens of thousands assail me on every side.” ~Psalm 3:6

I live out victory every day now, because He conquered everything that needed to be conquered. "But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ." ~1 Corinthians 15:57

From the inside out, I will smile for everyone to see. “The goal of this command is love, which comes from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.” ~1 Timothy 1:5

And from the ashes of my past, there is beauty.

That is what I see in the mirror today, and as God works “to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair” , there is hope beyond measure.

Growth
Your voice I seek.
Soft whispers I detect.
Toward silence I dwell.
Your voice O' God.
I hear it now.
In my soul is peace.
In my heart I rejoice.
In my mind triumph.
Just so much hope in You.

It has truly been a week of thickening of the skin, keeping my head up and completely submitting to hearing what God has for me. In the process of submitting, I am learning to listen more, sit quietly much more often, pay attention to my surroundings and to watch out for what He wants me to see. Many times this week, my eyes were closed tightly – and after a few days of doing things my way, I knew it was time to open wide to His ways.

Our Love Story…
May 10, 1998, Mother’s Day in the bay area for this single mom, is a day that is a great day on the calendar. It was your typical Sunday. My daughter and her friend were playing and I was doing some work, preparing for a conference call the following morning. As the ultimate multi-tasker, I usually had chat windows up, email and several web sites that I am researching. I had been single for a while and really not looking for a relationship (so I thought). I sing, so I thought I would peruse the ‘man seeks woman’ advertisements to see who played in a band, guitar, something like that. I typed in the parameters and an ad popped on my screen… ‘looking for my soul mate’. Now, I have read a few ads, and something spoke to me, and yet, no guitar!

I dropped a quick email response; and, a few hours I had an open chat window. In between playing, feedings and otherwise being a mom, I managed to spend most of the day and night chatting with he, whom I will spend my life with. We both knew immediately that we would get married, and that’s exactly what we did three months later, August 22, 1998.

Coincidently, at the time we met, I had just put an offer on a condo that was accepted in Hayward, a small 2 bedroom, 2 bath, maybe 800 square feet. Our third date was spent with me signing paperwork for the offer and acceptance. I remember thinking, while in the agent’s office, how good my life was and how it all seemed to be perfect. Within the next 30 days, I moved into my new place, which was just around the corner from my apartment. I had a small Ford Explorer that I would fill up every night and bring a load over to the new place.

Today, I still believe I found my soul mate, he, whom God made for me. It is said that through the “rubble emerges glory”, that “after the storm, is when the sky is clearest,” and just like building muscle, it cannot strengthen without first tearing.

It is because of him that I am who I am; someone who strives to become better, not only for him, but for me. And knowing that I am only human, flawed and in need of always changing for good. To one day emerge who God designed me to be. To be the best me, wife, friend, lover, encourager and life mate.

This is our story, and there will always be rubble and storms and growth. And I am glad to do this with you - my husband, my friend, my lover, my encourager and my life mate.

Did you know that the enemy hates marriage? Did you know that the enemy will try to convince you of many things, including "it's too late", "you don't understand my situation".... God understands and knows exactly where I am, and He is always right on time. It was when I began to listen, to truly hear and apply what God was speaking into my life that my outlook changed. I know that He is speaking; and at  times I must remember to call on Him and ask Him for my heart’s desire.

“Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.” ~Jeremiah 33:3

I am grateful that this love story continues, and is possible because of the love and faithfulness of my heavenly Father. I am grateful that when things looked the darkest, I saw the most light when I sought it. I am grateful that when I was in the middle of the storm, I held my ground; I believe God and I continue to pray for my marriage. I am grateful I believe in a miracle.

Today
As I sit and spend some time with God, I reflect on all that life has to offer and marvel in the little things as well. I am grateful for a loving and true God, who I know is always there: For a wonderful husband; loyal, loving and very sexy: A daughter who exceeds all expectations; smart, beautiful and very talented: And wonderful people in my life, and the technology to connect. ;-)

Thank you, Lord, for giving me the gift of friendship.

Thank you for the opportunity to grow every day (whether I want to or not). Thank you for the challenges, as well as the peaceful/easy times.

Thank you for a community to share and grow in.

Encouragement
Have you ever had a day (week, month, year) where you feel that no matter what you do, it's not right? Over the years, I have had countless times like that. As I started this week, I decided to change how I feel about every day. In fact, yesterday I woke up feeling a bit blah! I quickly rolled over, and started again. So, I forced myself to get up on the "right side of the bed". What a difference.

There are so many things to be grateful for:
·       breath - I can breathe freely, clear lungs, fresh air.
·       sight - I can see the flowers in my garden, the eyes of the ones I love as I look at them.
·       free will - the ability to choose what I do each day.
·       speech - I can talk to anyone, especially God.
·       hearing - I can hear the laughter of the child next door as I get ready for work. I can hear the baby cry, as she seeks her mom’s arms. I can hear, if I truly listen, the word of God as He directs my day.
·       my gifts - the talents and uniqueness of who I am so I can connect with others and they can be encouraged or touched.

I am especially grateful for the man I am married to, the daughter God gave me, the friends placed strategically in my life so I can grow, be challenged and be encouraged; for the opportunities to share with those less fortunate or in need; the blessings to teach what I have learned, and to learn what others have lived.

Thank you, Lord, for the encouragement I see and feel all around me every day.

A L O N E

Many times after a holiday, such as Christmas, there is a letdown for people. The festivities are over and now there is aloneness. Maybe quiet, in a house that yesterday was full of children laughing, the smells of a wonderful meal and the tender joy of a hug or two. Know that you are not alone. That at any moment, you know He is with you.

It is important to remember that He came in body, only to leave in body, but remain in spirit… Holy Spirit.

“Do you now believe?” Jesus replied. “A time is coming and in fact has come when you will be scattered, each to your own home. You will leave me all alone. Yet I am not alone, for my Father is with me.

I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” ~John 16:30-33

We can find solace in His presence, peace before His throne. At any moment, of any day, you can be with your creator.
And, He is there whenever you are ready. Just call to Him.

“Look at this: look who got picked by God! He listens the split second I call to him.” ~Psalm 4:3

Dear Friends
Did you know that you are wonderfully made?
Write a note for a friend, your mom or dad, your daughter or son, your cousin, your aunt or uncle, a teacher and anyone you love, with a praise, a thank you or just a “hello”.

And, just in case you are thinking, he or she doesn't need it or want it, please rethink it.

May the blessings of our mighty Father be revealed in abundance!

Have a blessed day.

________________________________________________

Dig Deep
Dig deep, ponder much and seek often. Ask God, “What do you have for me Father? Show me, share Your great promises with me.” And, as you look deeply into your eyes, see through to what He has created - I am a mighty woman of God.

Yes, “Jesus loves me”, but I will not take that for granted. What I speak, whether out loud or to myself, represents me... but more importantly, it represents my God. If I am touting to be a child of God and profanity, negativity or complaining comes from my tongue, what does that say about my faith, about my walk with the Lord? Is it allowing others to see the amazing gift I accepted? Is it attracting others to the same faith or walk?

Psalm 98 – A Psalm
“Sing to the LORD a new song, for he has done marvelous things; his right hand and his holy arm have worked salvation for him. The LORD has made his salvation known and revealed his righteousness to the nations. He has remembered his love and his faithfulness to the house of Israel; all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God. Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth, burst into jubilant song with music; make music to the LORD with the harp,  with the harp and the  sound of singing, with trumpets and the blast of the ram's horn — shout for joy before the LORD, the King. Let the sea resound, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it. Let the rivers clap their hands, Let the mountains sing together for joy; let them sing before the LORD, for he comes to judge the earth.  He will judge the world in righteousness and the peoples with equity.”

I Expect
All it took was a glimpse, a look at something that I was, once, head over heels in love with - my idol, possibly - my passion, deeply - my life's ambition, completely. But these are all things, ‘the possibly”\’, ‘the deeply’, ‘the completely’ were results of selfishness and disobedience. And I am not saying that that dream was not good and awesome and godly, I am saying that although I embarked well, I sailed poorly through the waters of that particular journey - and today I truly believe that when we put our dreams ahead of God, the outcome is greatly altered as a result. So today, I embark anew and I trust that He will lead me to a desire and passion – to a new dream.

I expect God to do great things in me. I expect a great life. I expect to change.

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power.” ~Ephesians 6:10

… with God in the lead, I cannot fail.

God’s Directions
And His revealing of my life’s purpose is what I wait for – and as I wait, I learn and grow. I am probably the most impatient person I know – when things are not moving fast enough, I jump in, take over and get things done; well that was before. Today, I wait, to allow God to go first; I wait, so I choose the right path; I wait, to hear His instruction. But getting to today hasn’t been as easy as “wait”. It has been a road of me stepping in before God, hitting detour after wrong road and starting to build without opening the manual. This is not something I would recommend, by the way.

Throughout my life, I have put my faith in many things that have completely let me down. I have put my faith in people, systems and my own strength and wisdom.

Today, I put my faith in my Creator, who strengthens me and already knows the way.

Today
Today, I am believing greatly, and acting with my hand firmly in His.
Today, I seek more the kingdom and fellowship with God’s amazing people.
Today, I am grateful that my home is heaven, and I am just visiting this world.
Today, God ushers me through the storms, and settles the shores.
Today, I see God’s people finding their areas of strength.
Today, I experience the unfolding of an amazing love story.
Today, lessons in my life seem to come from nowhere, are from God and everywhere.
Today, in grieving my mistakes, I can celebrate what God does with all of it.

A message to you, the one listening, for your name to be called.
Today, there is a message for you. It is the same as it has been every day of your life and for everyone's life from the first man and woman. You can do anything in life you put your mind to.

There is a plan, a purpose and coaching available to you. You have all the support and power you need.
 (Proverbs 3:5-6)

His Word is Always Enough
“Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth.
Worship the LORD with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.
Know that the LORD is God.
It is he who made us, and we are his
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.
For the LORD is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations.” ~Psalm 100

Rainy Day
As I walk out of the front door, the rain is just starting again. I know that it has rained most of the night - the water has become resident all around me. From the tulips to the brand new fruit trees in the yard to the river rock all around them, it all looks fresh and new. And somehow even the dirt seems clean and glistening in the rain.
Shower me today Lord with new insights, honed in perspectives and let my thoughts of You glisten from the cleansing rain.
"This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it."
~Psalm 118:24

Allow each day to be a new day, and within that day, every moment reflect a new and vibrant faith. Renew me Lord. Let me look at everything around me and see Your hand at work, let me see, even the rainy, dreary days as beautiful and amazing.
"Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me." ~Psalm 51:10

May you all have a beautiful perspective today and everyday as you step into the world.

Obsessive Behavior

This is a year that is turning out much differently than expected – through many “circumstances” a mighty God has shown greatly in my life; my God! And, the question is asked, why do I write? Two years ago, it would not have been asked of me – the only writing I did was an occasional email or notes in my journal, which I could not decipher later on.

I write because God asked me to, and when I refused, He commanded me to. What started out as a simple Facebook post by a friend has turned into my life’s passion – truly an obsession – and the more I write, the more my desire is to write – and the upside to all this writing is that I have to read in order to write intelligently.

I have discovered that words are what form me. When I was a young girl, words scared me. The idea of picking up a book or putting a pen to paper was horrifying. And, talking about what I read (or was supposed to read) would turn me completely inside out.

I have discovered that His word reveals me – I remember the moment when I realized that all of His promises that I had been reading were true for me. It was not the day I was saved and it was not in a moment of complete devastation. It was a moment comprised of many moments leading to that time and place that God had predetermined for me to “get it”.

·    How many times will I forget that You are with me?
·    How many ways will I avoid Your presence, absentmindedly?
·    How many roads will I travel following the detours?

So many more than necessary –
but enough times to remember –
You are always with me!

You always direct my path perfectly!
You never fail to show me the right way!
So with You I will travel all of my days, deeply in
Your presence I will step and stay.

`Words allow me to have a voice when my voice cannot be heard over the noise of the world or distractions of everyday life. Hearing His voice above the world is my obsession, and stepping over the threshold of distractions is my daily quest. And in pursuit of this obsession to envelop all that God has for me, He teaches me, He forgives me, He comforts me and He gives me “a me” I can live with now.

“The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. And we will be ready to punish every act of disobedience, once your obedience is complete.” ~2 Corinthians 10:4-6

In discovering the words He has for me, I am changed and in these changes, He, in me, is revealed greatly. His words form me… and the words that flow from me are endless. The rewards of His words for me are priceless.

God in me…
·       I am worth the endless love of a mighty God…”
·       “I am not settling for complacency, I desire to realize the fullness of a life through Christ.”
·       “What we do with the time we have is our choice. How we are rewarded for this time is God’s choice.”
·       “A positive attitude can help the moment. A hope-filled heart and knowing God’s promises can encourage a lifetime.”
·       “Lord, keep working on me and shining brightly where I need to see.”
·       “The moving parts of my life keep changing, but the operator of the machine stays the same.”
·       “Watching as the work of art is formed. Going through fire to secure the beauty of it all.”
·       “I love when things are pulled together. God’s surprises are the best.”
·       “We have the almighty God on our side, we must not fear man. As they are just like us, in need of an almighty God.”
·       “We are not competition as brothers and sisters, only compliments to one another. Make it known that all the body parts work together perfectly.”

And, there is hope in my surrender and in His tenderness of these lessons. Today, I will end with one of my favorite sayings, “I can’t wait to see what God has next.”

My Friends,

In closing, I would like to thank you for sharing my life, even if just a little bit. I look forward to hearing from those who wish to share how God is working in your life. If you have a giving thanks story, a testimony of how giving thanks has changed your life, through the mighty work of our heavenly Father, please write me at gtdbyshawn@att.net and let’s see if we can share your story of giving thanks as well.

May the Lord reveal all that He has for you and may you recognize His blessings when they appear.  I pray you too know the fire that burns within you and the power that is beyond measure because of who you are in Christ. If you do not know Jesus, I invite you to “invite Him into your life”.

“I am drenched in the fuel of the Holy Spirit. Jesus is the match... and God is the flame.”

Much love in Christ,
Shawn

Day 583 of Giving Thanks
I have an assignment and it is different than I ever thought it would be. I have a responsibility to carry His message; my ultimate goal in life is to carry the message – now, how can I do that? I do that by believing God. I do that by holding onto His promises. I do that by remembering who I am. I do that through holding every thought captive.

“We fight with weapons that are different from those the world uses. Our weapons have power from God that can destroy the enemy's strong places. We destroy people's arguments and every proud thing that raises itself against the knowledge of God. We capture every thought and make it give up and obey Christ.” ~2 Corinthians 10:4-5 (New Century Version)

This assignment is the one I am destined to complete. This assignment is the one I am destined to live.

“The LORD will keep you from all harm — He will watch over your life; the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.” ~Psalm 121:7-8 (New International Version)

My ultimate goal is to carry the message. And, right now, I am living the in between, living toward completing His assignment for me, carrying the message and believing what He has done for me.

How can I best do that? I do that one day at a time. I do that by believing one promise at a time. I do that by carrying out my destiny.

”God has made us what we are. He has created us in Christ Jesus to live lives filled with good works that he has prepared for us to do.” ~Ephesians 2:10 (GOD’S WORD Translation)

My life up to now has been quite a journey and today, for the very first time, I can accept the “all of it” and I so look forward to watching “all of it” unfold as I live in Christ and for Christ. And, my journey is not meant to be walked alone. I cordially invite you to join me in my walk with Christ. But, first and foremost He invites you – to accept the greatest gift ever offered. He came, yes. He lived, yes. He suffered, yes. He died, yes. He rose, yes, and that is what He ultimately came for, lived for, suffered for and died for. With His work, we can live – live for Him.

Again, I ask, will you join me?

What others are saying about, “it’s all about me”

Doug Baker writes:
Dear Shawn,

My opinion is that this is beautifully written. It is theologically true to the great doctrines of the faith. It will have broad appeal to fellow sojourners as your meditations offer hope and encouragement. My prayer is that you will continue to pour out your writings as from an alabaster box broken at Jesus' feet. The fragrance filled all the room!

Thank you for letting me read this work. It has inspired me. It is exciting to see what God is doing in you and through you.

I would not change anything. It's beautiful and theologically accurate for an orthodox, evangelical and conservative perspective.

I really enjoyed reading this work! It is refreshing to see life from your perspective. So many people will be blessed by reading this book, as

I was blessed. You should stir up the gift and fan the flame! I'm sure there's a lot of great thoughts ready to hit the hard drive.

Your friend in Christ,

Additional comments, within the context:
RE: page 16, C.E.L.E.B.R.A.T.E., “In the beginning, God, the Father, the Holy Spirit and the future blood of Jesus, devised a B.rilliant plan to save those they loved first.”  I just had to comment that this is theologically correct and a great truth to be shared. Salvation was never an after-thought with God. It was determined before the foundation of the world was laid. I love the way you wrote it.

Stephanie Wolfe-Saini writes:
"Your book is awesome. I'm not usually a slow reader but when I read your book I absolutely savored it. That is a keeper. I am getting a color nook and I would like to download the eBook. That is a great devotional. I have pages in books like oh man I see myself thank you Lord but this book is not to be read lightly. God has something in it a lot in it for everybody. The different font types keep your attention bringing a light-feeling. Noting in it brings you down. It makes you want to read more while inspiring you at the same time. I'm repeating myself. I can't help it. This book was God inspired. God bless you!"

Donna Snead writes:
Shawn,

I have been privileged to read your new book and not only that... I have been and AM provoked to sit quietly and meditate on the goodness of our Lord. This book, "It's All About Me," is certainly a necessity. I only wished you had put some lines in there so I could journal the soft whispers that your writings helped me to hear. Wow! Thank you so much for being obedient and sharing these wonderful murmurings and prayers with us. I know others will be inspired and provoked to CHANGE as well. I can't wait to get a hard copy. That is... if it will be available. Please let me know when. Blessings to you sis!

By the way, I especially appreciate page 14, DO THINGS BECAUSE ... it truly reminds us to evaluate WHY we do WHAT we do. Thanks again!

Dolores Ayotte writes:
It’s All About Me – Giving Thanks Daily is a wonderful daily devotional written by author Shawn Boreta. Shawn has chosen to share her spirituality and gift with her readers. She shares her intimate relationship with God in order to help others know a better way so that they too may find the joy, peace and comfort that she has found.

Shawn’s devotional is full of applicable biblical quotes that reach out to people in a warm and comforting way. She has chosen to live one day at a time and her words of inspiration encourage others to do so as well. Every morning I sat quietly in my rocking chair as I read Shawn’s peaceful and encouraging words. Yes…peaceful is the word that is best used to describe the feeling I attained after these early morning encounters with It’s All About Me - Giving Thanks Daily.

Shawn states at the bottom of each page “Your journey to daily gratitude begins with your decision to find something good in every situation”. Shawn knows exactly what she’s talking about because we have so much to be grateful for and it’s good to be gently reminded of this fact. Her daily devotional has been a great inspiration to me and her honesty and openness are a great gift to us all.

David Latry writes:
Hi Shawn,

I would love to begin with a thank you for the book. It couldn’t come at a more perfect time for me considering the fact that I am a fellow that struggles to really maintain a good, positive and confident though in my mind and I needed to be reminded of the truth that there is something good about every situation that God puts us through. One thing I find interesting about your book is the footer on each page “Your journey to daily gratitude begins with your decision to find something good in every situation”. I would say this is the theme of the book and when you get to see this on every page, you just can’t forget it. I read the book on my phone so the more advanced features of the book like images and special font designs were made to normal and that meant that I didn’t really check out for topographical errors of which I would report to you about.

Another thing about the book that I love is the way every page drives to the truth of the theme from different stories and thoughts. It is as if every page is a blog post that you learn something from this page and then something from the next and another from the next while being drawn to the fact that God has something good to offer us and it is our choice to see that good and appreciate it and that would bring us the life of gratitude that God wants us to live.

I don’t know how public you would like to make some of your stories especially the ones in the book but I would really love to hear more of them – the ones you shared in the book. In the beginning of the book you said that the book was a little bit of your life and that is good but with more testimonies of things that you have gone through a reader can connect more as he/she connects to the thoughts that you share in the book.

But in general, it is a great book and I really thank God that I had the opportunity to read this book before it is made public – this is my first. And as I said earlier on it couldn’t come at a more perfect time because on Monday I suffered a ‘self-declared depression’. I don’t really know what depression is but on Monday I found myself so down in mind and that resulted in me having one of my worst days in a long time. I want to decide to see something good in every situation but it has not really been great and in response to your call towards the end of the book, this is my story and I really need help. God is getting me out of this low self esteem that I carry and I know that it’s me who would have to make the choice of my thoughts and though I know what thoughts I should entertain in my thoughts I find myself thinking the exact opposite. Please I would like you to help me because you were also once here and you’ve made it out of here. Thanks in advance.

I would love to say that all the truths in a book are not realized in the first instance of reading and I plan on reading the book again latter. Thanks and God bless. Please continue in the good work that God is using you to do on earth.
~ David

Day 933 of Giving Thanks Daily - Guest Writer, Julie Gorman

If forever began today, what would your horizon look like?

Bills, kids homework, gymanastic lessons, taekwondo, work, clean the house, cook supper, make time for ministry...and the list goes on and on and on...

Sometimes life gets so busy that we tend to just do the next thing on our required to do list, seldom taking time to think about eternity, or what really matters.

But what if forever began today...what would your horizon look like? This thought either brings the sting of conviction or a sweet solace as we remember what should be the most important aspect of our lives.

Jesus promised, "In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4 You know the way to the place where I am going." ~John 14:2-4 (New International Version)

We are loved beyond all measure. God’s love is more tender than a mother’s, more faithful than a brother’s, and more intimate than a lover’s; His love crossed the battlefield of pain, traversed through the trenches of indifference and pride, and stretched His arms wide, nailing the weight of our sin to its final death.

So, as you face the mundane list of all your necessary "to do's" remember...there is more to life than endless tasks. Take a moment to thank God for all He has done and ask Him for the strength to do all that you need to do without forgetting what is most important.

Day 932 of Giving Thanks

In the beginning, there was a challenge, and I took it. And, today, I am still Giving Thanks Daily! Every day is an amazing gift, and every day I thank God for revealing this daily activity to me.

As a group, we are on Day 6, if you haven't started yet, are you ready to take the challenge?

November 6, 2009
Day 4 of Giving Thanks!
I have been struggling with having results of a program we are doing at work. And, I left work feeling that I was just not doing something right. Then, yesterday I was sitting at Starbucks making phone calls for my business; I caught bits and pieces of a conversation of the guy and young kid sitting across from me.

As they got up to leave, I was in the middle of a conversation, but I heard God say "talk to him". So, with a "gotta go" to my call, I said "are you a youth pastor" to the young man. And, he responded "praise God, how did you know"?  Well, long story short, he is from a church that I am trying to work with for the ministry. So, with his cell number in hand another God-connection was made.

I am grateful that God reminds me that it is ALL Him, and not me.

November 7, 2009
Day 5 of Giving Thanks!
My intention is to start each day by talking to God; and I am good most days. John Bruce, our pastor has been doing a series on grace vs. works. I am grateful that my relationship with God is assured and that no matter how much I mess up, He still loves me and that cannot be taken away from me. I am grateful for others who remind me of that. I am also very grateful that He already knows my needs, even if I forget to tell him or ask.

November 8, 2009
Day 6 of Giving Thanks!
As today comes to a close, I get a chance to reflect on the awesomeness of friendship and the benefit of technology in our lives. Tonight I was able to catch up with someone I hadn't seen in many, many years (from high school). I am amazed that when relationship is healthy that even if you haven't talked in years, you can pick up almost where you left off. Thank you Lord for friends, memories and the opportunity to start fresh while continuing on: thank you for Melissa.

Day 931 of Giving Thanks - Introduction

Introduction
written November 2010 (365 days after Day 1 of Giving Thanks Daily)

I am an avid people person and now a huge Facebook fan. I jump on every morning and before I go to bed.  As I perused my friends’ posts on the morning of November 3, 2009, I saw a post from my friend Catherine. She was on her third day of being grateful and her post, even though I had seen the two prior days, hit me this day.  So, I decided to take the challenge.

The first couple days seemed pretty easy, and I thought “this is pretty easy”, and in actuality, it is very easy. I don’t write at the same time every day, I don’t have a system and I am not tied to a common thread, except giving thanks. I just think back on my day or yesterday; or look forward to the day coming up and I write.

We all have so much to be grateful for. For some people, we fight to stay positive, others we are already there. This is a way for me to stay focused on what is really important, and truthfully, it’s not me. The important things in life, for me, include my family, how I can please God and finding ways to give back. In general, I am a very upbeat and positive person, but over the years, as many people, I have faced challenges and somehow become less than positive or upbeat.

My desire is to go every day of my life finding new and wonderful things or people to be thankful for.  This devotional/journal is only a start. A habit is formed in 21 days, get through this little book, and you are well on your way.  Please take my challenge, and for the next 90 days, create a habit of thankfulness and being grateful.

The Beginning Days
Nov. 3, 2009
Day 1 of Giving Thanks!
I am grateful for the lessons I am privileged to learn; and to know that with every mistake I make, I can get better; and I am accepted and loved no matter what. Yesterday I had a bad start and from the time I started moving, I felt behind (almost defeated). I stopped, prayed and started again. I had a terrific evening and was more productive than most full days. Thank you Lord.

Nov. 4, 2009
Day 2 of Giving Thanks!
I am thankful that I live in the best place ever where I have the freedom to tout my God and faith. And, it's ok for others to do the same. I am grateful hat there are people fighting to keep our liberties. Thank you Lord – for choosing this time and this place for me to exist.

Nov. 5, 2009
Day 3 of Giving Thanks!
I am thankful for my ability to talk, walk, see, hear, feel and learn. There have been a few challenges these past few months, and I am grateful that God reminds me that even tough I "feel" overwhelmed or whatever, that I still have all my capacities. Thank you Lord for showing me that it is always ok.

Again, I challenge you, take the 30 day challenge and intentionally "Give Thanks Daily" - journal, write it daily, then look back after 30 days and let us know how it went... then, KEEP GOING!

Are you up for the challenge?

A Note of Encouragement

WOW!!!
B E A U T I F U L !!!!
by Stephanie Wolfe-Saini

How are you doing today?

If your day is particularly trying, the Lord will see you through it? I know I repeat myself a lot but as you draw closer to the Lord, He will draw closer to you. Doesn't make sense? Ok! If your not walking real close to Jesus yet then He has a hard time coming some place He's not invited. So as you talk to Him more and more He will feel more comfortable being open with you. As you read the bible more and more and pray and show a true desire to know more and more about Him, He is going to open up amazing volumes of knowledge you never dream possible. I'm not just taking up space here it's true. After 30 years of just reading the bible that's all it was but when I wanted a much closer relationship with Him, I began to open the bible, and as I was reading my heart was opened up to places I felt like I was visiting. I enjoyed the old testament and before, I didn't. The wars made more sense.

At that time, I decided that I wanted to read the bible all the way through and that's when I began building a closer walk with my Lord and Savior. It's been so awesome since. The Lord can only come close to you when you desire to walk close to Him. When you are tempted, then He can help you with that temptation because you are learning to trust Him.

"Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak." ~Mark 14:38 (New King James Version)

So it says we are weak in ourselves but Jesus is able to help us overcome that temptation. Try it with an ice cream bar. You want it but you're trying to lose weight So talk to Jesus and see what happens when your heart (not your mind) is truly desiring to stay away from sweets. Praise the Lord.

Day 930 of Giving Thanks - Guest Writer, Donna Wright

 “FAILURE!”
by Donna Wright

“The LORD is a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble” ~Psalm 9:9  (New International Version)

At one point in life, I found myself sitting on the edge of my bed, face buried in a towel, rocking back and forth while weeping under an emotional avalanche of failure. The weight of it swept over my mind, choked out my breath, and pulled me down into a dark, murky depression like a huge anvil plunging in water.

Past successes seemed insignificant. Diehard dedication faded to perpetual imperfections. It didn’t matter how far I had come in life or how hard I fought to regain myself on this journey. That ugly feeling of failure pounded it’s judgmental gavel against my emotions until it broke core of my self-confidence.  It seemed impossible to fight.

Yet, I STOOD my ground then and STAND my ground today.  The feeling of “failure” is an attack that stems directly from YEARS of being called “FAILURE!”.

I am not a FAILURE.  I am a daughter of Christ!  I am a royal diadem in His crown. I am a treasure to the heart of Jesus. He has my name engraved in the palms of His hands!

I’m fighting to WIN this battle. God is my confidence! God has made my life a success! He is the HEALER of my heart and emotions! I will push forward in prayer. I will read scriptures out loud to myself. I will speak LIFE to all those places where the enemy has spoken death. This is a battle and God IS MY CHAMPION! I’m on the winning side!

FAILURE is a LIE. It is a stronghold that the enemy has cast onto many lives. WE ARE NOT FAILURES! God’s power IS GREATER than the lies of the enemy, stronger than the lies of abusive people, and bigger than the lies we tell ourselves.  GOD IS OUR STRONGHOLD.

Jesus has the authority to break off the feeling of failure from your life. Lift your soul to Jesus and let the power of His Spirit fill your wounded heart with VICTORY and SELF-CONFIDENCE!

"Because of the oppression of the weak and the groaning of the needy, I will now arise," says the LORD. "I will protect them from those who malign them." ~Psalm 12:5 (New International Version)
“But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds,' declares the LORD, 'because you are called an outcast, Zion for whom no one cares.” ~Jeremiah 30:17 (New International Version)

Day 929 of Giving Thanks

I wanted to give an update - my writing has been hit or miss for the last month, which is so unlike me, but I assure you, God's got this. I appreciate you all and thank You for being part of my daily routine.

Let me explain - For the last year, I have been fighting exhaustion (not just tired, but severe exhaustion). Last year I had blood work, work ups, probing and evaluations... and nothing came out of all the hoopla. But this battle has been raging inside my cells, through my blood stream and modifying my DNA (according to my doctor) for 29 years.

"even because of the extraordinary degree of the revelations. Therefore, so that I would not exalt myself, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan, in order that it would torment me so that I would not exalt myself. Three times I appealed to the Lord about this, that it would depart from me. And he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, because the power is perfected in weakness.” Therefore rather I will boast most gladly in my weaknesses, in order that the power of Christ may reside in me. Therefore I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in calamities, in persecutions and difficulties for the sake of Christ, for whenever I am weak, then I am strong." ~2 Corinthians 12:7-10 (Lexham English Bible)

Today, I had another doctor's appointment, in the recent series of several. On Sunday, I had totally lost hope of seeing true energy again; exhausted, and in much pain; really no more pain than normal, just less energy to deal with it. I have felt like I could sleep all the time - but I continue to push through. Saturday was supposed to be a busy one, but it just was not going to happen - I didn't do much of anything. Sunday became busy and I ended up doing a lot more than I had planned, and at the end of the day, I was wiped. I had absolutely come to the end of myself and my energy.

I poured my heart out to the LORD and bared my soul and just cried for help and guidance. I was feeling that this doctor appointment would yield much of the same; lots of explaining, lots of “uh huhs” and raised eyebrows from doctors who had no idea what to say or how to respond. But I prayed anyway, for someone to “hear me”.

Today, not only was I “heard”, I also received some good news. Two of the blood results from last year’s tests were not relayed to me properly. In fact, my new doctor, said my vitamin B12 levels were severely depleted, as well as my vitamin D; he said most people wouldn’t get out of bed at all with those numbers. The good news is not that the levels are down, but that there is a reason (a fixable reason) for the exhaustion. He asked how I felt about shots, and would I be able to administer my own…. “No problem”, flew out of my mouth… What was I thinking? Really, give myself a shot. But I “sucked it up” and learned, and today, I started a new regiment and hope was realized once again that this body will see “energy” once again.

Father, I am so sorry for doubting. So regretful that I have to hit the floor in utter despair to really ask You to show me a miracle – to prove to me that You “hear me”, that my cries and pleas are important and I am valued and meant to be healed. Thank You that today’s revealing was  a minor thing, that had become a major hindrance for me, is really just You showing You to me. And, that I have nothing to fear or to worry about regarding my well being – You have it all under control. Thank You for giving me the pushes necessary to ask for help, to be bold with my doctors and trust Your promptings. I thank You that today was just one more “thing” to credit You with, and to trust You even more with.

Today, I am, again, blown away by Your mercy and plan.  Thank You for good news today. Even if nothing changes, I am assured so often that You are with me on this journey. If I am healed, I am grateful; if I am not, I know that Your purposes are greater, and I am content in this knowledge; but as Paul continued to ask for healing, so will I. Thank You LORD for Your amazing ad timely answers to the absolute pouring out of my heart. I am so humbled by Your mercy and love. Amen.

"Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." ~1 Thessalonians 5:18  (English Standard Version)

A Note of Gratitude

The Ups and Downs - Life
by Darci Escandon
Ps139 group

Life is like a roller coaster. You have your ups and downs and while you are on the ride, there are times where you can’t stop smiling and then others where you think you are going to get sick. It can be exhilarating and cause an adrenalin rush. Other times, it may seem like the ride will never ever end. I know that’s how my life has been lately. Tomorrow, will be one of those crazy, nervous, may feel like throwing up (sorry for being graphic) day. After work, I will be going to see my stylist and she will be shaving my head. I stopped to see my mother in law this afternoon, and most of her hair is gone now due to the cancer. I made her a promise that when her hair falls out, I will lose mine as well so that she wouldn’t be alone in her baldness. For me, it’s just hair and it grows back… but her’s may never grow back . So, it will be an emotional time for me… Yet, God is so good and present. With all this craziness going on, my father and Muslim brother are looking forward to me sharing with them, what I am learning in my Old Testament class over these next 8 weeks (each one of my classes only last 8 weeks so they are really intense). I am looking forward to being able to witness to them….so, with the exciting comes the devastating, with the joy comes tears, with the pain comes love. This is my roller coaster ride of life and I wouldn’t change it for the world. I am so grateful that I stayed in line and got on the ride!

A Note of Encouragement

Who Commands the Wind

by Sandy Anderson
Ps139 group

Lately I've had many times I've felt helpless...like a leaf in the wind with no control. That's not me so I took it to God in prayer for I know better. I used those exact words..."Lord, I feel helpless like a leaf in the wind." He said, "You may not be in control but I always am. WHO COMMANDS THE WIND?" In that moment a sweet release of all worries was lifted. I had to say aloud, "You are! I'll just relax and flow with it and know you'll land me safely where ever you're taking me." I had a spirit filled moment in my kitchen with that single thought. When we lose control is when He takes control. There is a difference in losing control and simply letting it go freely. Remember who commands the wind and waves and don't fear them. He may be taking you to an amazing place you never even thought of going. Just a thought worth sharing.

Day 928 of Giving Thanks

God sure comes to different conclusions than we do, ehy? Thankfully, He knows better than we do.

He is all that He has promised... and so much more than we can perceive. Daily I pray for His perspective.

It really is the the simplest of thoughts that can be the most profound. Today, I have pondered much over these many years of knowing God, but during a conversation earlier today, it came down to GOD IS COMPLETELY TRUSTWORTHY IN ALL THINGS!

Simply simple and true.

I have been thinking and praying much about so much.  I am finding He is directing me directly to Him, eliminating the middle man/woman so I can hear what HE has for me, no confusion. Often, I am brought back to “the basics”, those verses I learned early on, those thoughts that brought me directly to my heavenly Father in all times. I find myself pondering, “Don’t I know that He desires us to desire that pureness of heart, that newness of faith, while desiring the amazing wisdom that only comes from the Holy Spirit teaching me?” Am I alone here, or is this resonating with anyone else?

“Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.” ~Jeremiah 33:3 (English Standard Version)
“and provide for those who grieve in Zion—to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor.” ~Isaiah 61:3 (New International Version)
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” ~Matthew 7:7-8 (New International Version)

His Words are what I need, as I walk through this journey. It really does seem as though we have had our share of "stuff" going on. The challenges never cease, do they? So, what does this mean? What questions do I ask, so I can confirm His work in me?

How are we to cope?
How are we to rest?
How are we to encourage one another and grow stronger?

For me, the biggest question is, “How am I to stop and hear God if I am in the middle of stuff and circumstances?” Every day, the LORD asks me to minister to others, to share my heart and show the love of Christ through my prayers. My question for you is, “Will you join me today in sharing the light and salt of Jesus? Will you minister to others, share your hearts and prayer with others.”

If you are not ready for this, what is holding you back from being consistent in your faith? May I just say for me, "It's me"! LORD help us to walk in faith, be disciplined and to take action.

Action toward Your Word daily.
Action toward prayer continually.
Action toward being salt and light.
Action toward releasing the old and embracing the new of You.

Day 927 of Giving Thanks Daily

I have really struggled keeping my tongue, and I am praying that I do not speak out of turn and with tact and truth. I really do want to encourage others through the truth, and I am praying diligently that I can share the truth in a manner that is "Jesus and Holy Spirit" enabled, from the heart to my thoughts and off the tongue. Let me LORD, be directed and humble in all I do; let me be loving and kind; let me be helpful, engaging and productive for the Glory of God!

"He who observes the day, observes it in honor of the Lord. He also who eats, eats in honor of the Lord, since he gives thanks to God; while he who abstains, abstains in honor of the Lord and gives thanks to God.
None of us lives to himself [but to the Lord], and none of us dies to himself [but to the Lord, for]
If we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or we die, we belong to the Lord.
For Christ died and lived again for this very purpose, that He might be Lord both of the dead and of the living." ~Romans 14:6-9 (Amplified Bible)

Tonight, I am encouraged, and following a day where I have needed encouragement all day, He has been so faithful. It is a simple truth, and a simple reminder tonight.

Father, I am ready for rest, I seek Your comfort and diligent quest to be wholly Yours in all aspects of my life, mind, body, soul and actions. I pray LORD God that I can be constantly reminded of truly awesome You are, and how amazing my lessons can be. Let me see all that You have for me. I love You Father.

Look Up
In the times when you have fallen down, and you just can't get up on your own. Dig deeply into your soul - hear Him. He is calling to you...

"get up"
"fight through it"
"keep moving"
"take that first step"
"take the next step"
"you're almost there"
"move your mind"
"tap into your heart"
"don't quit"
"never, ever quit"
"YOU CAN DO IT"

You can do amazing things with God. Trust that He is with you - cheering you on, and pouring His strength into you.

Day 926 of Giving Thanks

I am exhausted Father; every part of me is crying for strength this week. And, that strength comes through praise.

“I rejoice in following your statutes as one rejoices in great riches.” ~Psalm 119:14 (New International Version)

As I sat before my LORD this morning, I asked Him to flood my mind with all His promises, every word that delivers hope, my heart to overflow in gratitude, and I was able to cruise through my day. In fact, I am continuing to “go” and it is late. I am ready for rest, a rest that requires focus and steadfastness so that I can count on the Holy Spirit to work all this out as I sleep – the worry, uncertainty, and moments of despair as I think what my physical future holds. I have to completely remove, the “what if it doesn’t work” and the “what will be done” behind – completely behind. It is a choice to focus on Him. To revel in the “what has already been done”.

Daily we make a choice to live for God... I cannot imagine not being grateful. I think of Job and how deeply He knew that God's promises would hold through the tests of time - how deeply the LORD loved him. Let us all have faith like that in ALL our circumstances.

We are to have active faith and that means active prayer. Note to self, when I need prayer most, I know someone else out there needs it more. Show me LORD healing through intercessory prayer.

“And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us.” ~1 John 3:23 (New International Version)
“Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.” ~John 6:29 (New International Version)
“For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” ~John 3:17 (New International Version)

My active faith is trust.
My active faith is confirmed through the Word.
My active faith belongs to the LORD.
My active faith is continued prayer.
My active faith requires Him in all my thoughts.
My active faith is my life is a prayer.
My active faith will pull me through every time, because active faith required active relationship with my God.

Day 925 of Giving Thanks

"In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God…" ~John 1:1 (New Living Translation)

Tonight I am led to pray for those who are deceived by "spirituality", which is the enemy's way of “faking God”. How many fakes draw us in? Are we praying protection enough, for discernment enough, for clarity enough?

Father, give us all these things as we walk in this world and live for You. Help us to see truth and run away from deceit and evil which is camouflaged as good. Amen.

So, let me ask, are we a people of truth, or are we people of comfort?

I have to ask myself, am I comfortable in this situation, or am I seeking comfort through the Holy Spirit? Am I seeking truth, or believing what is told to me?

How do we keep seeking truth?

The answer is His Word! The answer is prayer! The answer is His to reveal to us daily as we come in faith and trust that He is LORD.

We believe in God's promises. His concern and love for us as His children. As believers, we will disagree, but my hope is that we can all be open to His amazing truth. We believe every day is "onward to perfection". Thank You LORD!

Day 924 of Giving Thanks

I am learning to allow the calm in the midst of a storm. But as of today, I still know the storm is all around me. As I wade through the emotions, and the tidal waves, I trust in the knowledge of all He has given me from the first day He began drawing me near (my entire life).

Today, it is these words that is my hope, and is your hope. I pray that you know this truth.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his only and unique Son, so that everyone who trusts in him may have eternal life, instead of being utterly destroyed." ~John 3:16 (The Complete Jewish Bible)

Jesus died for our sins, every single one of them, but we have to acknowledge that it is only His death that will do. He died so we can live.

What is the one thing that you are holding onto that is keeping you from holding onto God's promises for your life? Could it be the past; hurt, physical pain or uncertainty?

Whatever it is, did you know that God is the Cure, the Comforter and the Answer to them all? And all along remember that we have the power to direct Satan to “Back off”.

If your faith is not enough, ask Him to increase it. Faith of a mustard seed... Really? Really!

Let it be known through the communication of the Holy Spirit what that means for each of us through our circumstances. Let us shout out and rejoice Your goodness for our lives. Thank You Jesus, thank You... we praise You, we ask that all things we experience be used and honed so that we can see You in all things, even and especially these things we can't and don't understand.

“He gives power to the faint and weary, and to him who has no might He increases strength [causing it to multiply and making it to abound].” ~Isaiah 40:29 (Amplified Bible)

LOVE IS BEING TRUTHFUL, not conforming – if someone is wrong, you tell him or her. If you sugar coat things to make people feel better, confront it lovingly, in truth. If the wrong is the one looking back at you, it seems it would be an easy task. Let this task be done in grace and obedience. Let us look forward to “When the storm has swept away…”

“When the storm has swept by, the wicked are gone, but the righteous stand firm forever.” ~Proverbs 10:25 (New International Version)

Day 923 of Giving Thanks

Sometimes we have to get out of God's way so we can see what way we should be going. I am ready Father, show me the way, lead me in grace and help me to press in as You desire.

“You can enter true life only through the narrow gate. The gate to hell is very wide, and there is plenty of room on the road that leads there. Many people go that way. But the gate that opens the way to true life is narrow. And the road that leads there is hard to follow. Only a few people find it." Matthew 7:13-14 (Easy-to-Read Version)

Sometimes we have to get out of God's way so we can see what way we should be going. I am ready Father, show me the way, lead me in grace and help me to press in as You desire.

God made me, and drew me near to Him... it's the God part of me that was drawn to the truth to Jesus.

I sometimes have to think of it as my insides are God, but the outside gets this worldly film... that film cannot change what I am inside. So, we can ponder, did our insides change? Yes/No? We will never not be created by God. We can really try to filter our logic into all this, but as you see, our filters are different... the great thing is WE ARE HIS.... inside and out... because of the robe of righteousness.

There is a part of all of us that yearns for God... desires to know Him and to understand. When I was far away from God, I still knew when He was tugging at me... that's the Jesus in us. The drawing of the LORD... the voice that says, "He's calling, go to Him".

"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."~ Isaiah 41:10 (New International Version)
"Don't panic. I'm with you. There's no need to fear for I'm your God. I'll give you strength. I'll help you. I'll hold you steady, keep a firm grip on you."~ Isaiah 41:10 (The Message)

Before I knew the LORD, I questioned much... and received no answers which I now know, I was blinded to the truth, and deceived by the enemy of lies, and wholly believing the fallibility of miracles. Today, in knowing the LORD, truth is revealed in amazing ways. I will get a word, a direction, a vision and before I know it, the verse will be presented, a confirmation revealed through a conversation or whatever else God will use to ensure I know it's Him.

Did you know the enemy cannot get to your thoughts (know what you are thinking), but can influence them? Did you know that only God can know Your thoughts and can give you the power and strength to hold onto His truths and dismiss the lies?

Father, thank You for reminding us that You have given us comfort through Your words for so very long. Help us to remember the words of the Psalmist as we pray, seek and trust. God truly does communicate in many ways. I have grown to realize that His ways are truly perfect. God truly does communicate in many ways. I have grown to realize that His ways are truly perfect.

“Out of his fullness we have all received grace in place of grace already given.” ~John 1:16 (New International Version)

TEST EVERYTHING. Brothers and sisters, make sure that you test everything. Don't allow the world to deliver things that sound good, for the world belongs to the enemy...

TEST EVERYTHING.

"Do not spurn the gifts and utterances of the prophets [do not depreciate prophetic revelations nor despise inspired instruction or exhortation or warning]."But test and prove all things [until you can recognize] what is good; [to that] hold fast."Abstain from evil [shrink from it and keep aloof from it] in whatever form or whatever kind it may be."And may the God of peace Himself sanctify you through and through [separate you from profane things, make you pure and wholly consecrated to God]; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved sound and complete [and found] blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah)." ~1 Thessalonians 5:20-23 (Amplified Bible)

Do not trust man, trust the LORD. Allow the Holy Spirit to guide you to the truth, every time... and every time, test everything! From the beginning, He is all we need, and trustworthy to His Word - every time.

Day 923 of Giving Thanks

E N C O U R A G E M E N T

Have you ever had a day (week, month, year) where you feel that no matter what you do, it's not right? Over the years, I have had countless times like that. As I started this week, I decided to change how I feel about every day. In fact, yesterday I woke up feeling a bit blah! I quickly rolled over, and started again. So, I forced myself to get up on the "right side of the bed". What a difference.

There are so many things to be grateful for:
breath - I can breathe freely, clear lungs, fresh air.
sight - I can see the flowers in my garden, the eyes of the ones I love as I look at them.
free will - the ability to choose what I do each day.
speech - I can talk to anyone, especially God.
hearing - I can hear the laughter of the child next door as I get ready for work. I can hear the baby cry, as she seeks her mom’s arms. I can hear, if I truly listen, to the word of God as He directs my day.
my gifts - the talents and uniqueness of who I am so I can connect with others and they can be encouraged or touched.

I am especially grateful for the man I am married to, the daughter God gave me, the friends placed strategically in my life so I can grow, be challenged and be encouraged; for the opportunities to share with those less fortunate or in need; the blessings to teach what I have learned, and to learn what others have lived.

Thank you Lord for the encouragement I see and feel all around me every day.

Day 922 of Giving Thanks

“I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world. [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.]”  ~John 16:33 (Amplified Bible)

It has been a day of scripture, reflection and learning. In this life we are faced with decisions. We must choose well. Today, I contemplate many things, and know that there are decisions to be made. As I come to You now LORD, and I take this time to dwell in You, worship You, listen for You, let it be Your desires for me be heard and Your desires for how I serve be known deeply in my soul. Amen.

Father, let me continue here with prayer, as it honors and glorifies You for me to be humble before You. To realize I do not and cannot have the answers on my own. That words are only words unless they are backed by Your Word.

Let me continue to know that my losses are really my gains.
Let me continue to realize that the subtleties of corrections repair severe infractions that keep from whole presence in You.
Let me remember in every situation my choice is submitting to You wholly.

We may see something completely different than what the LORD sees, let us always (did I say ALWAYS?) come to knowledge and truth through the Holy Spirit. Let us seek You LORD in all things to be wise in.

“And he said, Peaceably; I have come to sacrifice to the Lord. Consecrate yourselves and come with me to the sacrifice. And He consecrated Jesse and his sons and called them to the sacrifice.“When they had come, he looked on Eliab [the eldest son] and said, Surely the Lord’s anointed is before Him.“But the Lord said to Samuel, Look not on his appearance or at the height of his stature, for I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees; for man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.” ~1 Samuel 16:5-7 (Amplified Bible)

Many of the long time evangelists have taken the stand that church is church, faith is faith, but that is not what the bible says. The false teachers are many. Many of which were revered at one time, are now using this same methodology and have banished the Holy Spirit. The path is narrow, very narrow (Matthew 7:13).  I am grateful for all His truth.

Let us LORD in Your strength through the Holy Spirit remove all that we bow down to "in Your name" that which is not You. Let us reflect on Your Word, depend on Your truth and adhere to it. In Your name we ask to be bold in faith, stand for the truth and display grace that is pleasing to You.

God can use evil and wrong for His good, but I believe it's His job not ours to decide how to do that (Matthew 6:24). Caution is to be exercised when we open ourselves up and expose ourselves to false teaching and cults; and we are not to partner ourselves to false religions and be in alignment in anyway (1 Corinthians 15:33).

“Do not be so deceived and misled! Evil companionships (communion, associations) corrupt and deprave good manners and morals and character.” ~1 Corinthians 15:33 (Amplified Bible)

Broken Bones, Inspired Heart (Testimony Series) by Tricia A. Furness

Broken Bones, Inspired Heart
by Tricia A. Furness

“We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to His purpose.” ~Romans 8:28 (New International Version)
“As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts are higher than your thoughts.” ~Isaiah 55:9 (New International Version)
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm youk plans to give you hope and a future." ~Jeremiah 29:11 (New International Version)
In mid-April of this year I decided to begin praying and worshipping every night. I first spent around an hour praising God and singing to Christian music, praying between songs. I began a prayer list, and it slowly grew. One evening a friend told me about a meeting he was invited to. It was in Minneapolis, MN. It was one of those meetings that, unless you are an important person in the community, you were not likely to be invited. It involved all the “big-wigs” in the Christian community. My friend did not understand why he had been invited.

I offered to pray for God to complete whatever he had planned in all His Glory. I prayed very hard for several minutes, and then tried to move on to my reading for school (I was attending college). However, I could not focus on the reading, so I put it down and began praying again. I was amazed at how deep my concentration was. I felt enveloped by the Holy Spirit for several minutes, a new experience to me. Then, suddenly, I was overcome by a feeling of joy. It literally felt like my cup was overflowing. I knew something had happened for my friend. I praised and praised God for whatever had happened. This was at 7:45pm.

The next day I asked my friend what happened at 7:45. He said a certain leader had sat by him, talked to him for a while, and asked him to call their office soon to set up a meeting. My friend was ecstatic because this was the group he’d been longing to represent as a worship leader. I told him what happened, and knew that God was communicating to him that this was where he wanted my friend to go. Eventually I was able to tell this religious leader what had happened. He told me that this was incredibly powerful testimony and was excited. That was my first prayer miracle, a prophesy. This was, again, in mid-April.

Three weeks later, in May, I had a seizure (only one I’d ever had). When my body hit the ground I broke my collar bone, meaning a month off work. Then, however, I went to family church camp and for the first time in my life I was healed from demonic attacks, the Enemy placing evil thoughts in my head, and of financial hardship. I knew the broken collar bone was the enemy’s attempt to crush my faith. After the healing I felt so free, like a giant weight had been lifted off my shoulder. Half an hour later I was enjoying coffee with friends. My shoulder suddenly cramped up and I was in immense pain for 20 minutes. I screamed and cried as my friends prayed over me. When it was over, I realized that the devil still wanted his hands on me, and therefore attacked me at a weak spot, my collar bone.

A couple days later I found out the broken bones had moved a couple inches and doctors could not explain it. So, instead of returning to work in a week, I was scheduled for surgery 2 weeks later. This meant another 12 weeks off work, totaling 4 months. How could this happen? How could God allow this to happen? I was full of worry and fear until I read the verses I posted above. God used this time off work to strengthen my faith. With the extra time, I read my bible, a few devotionals, and listened to online sermons. I began having longer worship and prayer time every evening. My list, with my prophesy story spreading around, grew longer very quickly. I now pray for over 100 people/groups every day. I have seen 3 other prayer miracles in these 3+ months. I have learned how strong prayer can be. As I prayed more, I grew closer to God than I ever thought I could. God knew that these things happening would give me the opportunity to concentrate on Him. When I didn’t get all I needed to learn from the first injury, he allowed me another. While my financial situation is terrible, my spiritual life has grown immensely, and all because of terrible things happening to me. God knew what I needed. He saw I needed brokenness and time off to be closer to Him. He had plans for me and my prayer life. When these bad things happened, only God could see what would be the result, and only God knew the plans He had for my life.

So, now I am thankful for what He has given me, as I know His sight saw things I never thought possible.

~Evening Prayer~July 31, 2012

Father thank You. It is a simple thing to say, and such a hard thing to “get”. I pray daily that I truly get gratitude; that thankfulness is not just what I do, but how I live. In the many moments that go right in my days, let me remember You. In the many moments that go wrong in my days, let me remember You. In all the moments in my life, let me continue to be perfected and appreciate the process.

As I come to You this evening there are many things on my heart; all those who need You LORD, let them see Your presence, Your pull and Your draw in their life. As they arise, I pray for the urging to seek and know You, as well as the desire to understand that all You do and have done has been done for them. Let me remember mighty and God of perfection that I am under Your strength and can relay so much of Your grace through my own actions. Help me come to You for all things. Let me live in hope and experience all things in joy.

As the evening turns to night Abba, let me be comforted in the knowledge that You have always loved me, and love those who need You so much. I pray for those hurting and broken hearted tonight, that in their time of need, they can see the light that is shed for them, through Your son. As my heart settles and the lights go out for the evening, let me dwell in the light of Your promises. Be with me Lord Jesus and help me remember all those who need prayer, remember the cries that have come through me for lifting and petition. I pray for protection over my loved ones and those I have yet to know. Tonight as I sleep I count greatly on the Holy Spirit to lead my thoughts, to guide my subconscious to all things of You. In the precious name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Day 920 of Giving Thanks

Discovering today, the strength I have in You LORD. Learning how to remove all of me in the process and discover all of You as You guide, protect and correct.

As I finish out a long day, I am satisfied with God’s direction and my listening. Mostly, I love God’s direction and falter in the listening part – but today, through experience, scripture, prayer and calm, I moved a step forward today. I found the ground, when just last week, I barely knew the ground existed in that same spot. Good news? Excellent news! And, it is because of His “Good News” that I can be expectant. And, I am very expectant, even and especially through uncertain or rough times. My constant cry is, “Help me Lord Jesus to imitate You today and represent our LORD on high in all I do. Help me remember daily, and moment to moment all that You have already done. Let me reflect, and be grateful, rather than dwell and be needy.”

“For God so loved the world that he gave his only and unique Son, so that everyone who trusts in him may have eternal life, instead of being utterly destroyed." ~John 3:16 (The Complete Jewish Bible)

He loves us...

"Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord," ~Acts 3:19 (New International Version)

We are to love Him, and come to Him on our own accord. Because of His shed blood, life is possible.

All things are possible because we are His. All things including abiding by His precepts because once we are His, we have Him to help us through the Holy Spirit.

“He gives power to the faint and weary, and to him who has no might He increases strength [causing it to multiply and making it to abound].” ~Isaiah 40:29 (Amplified Bible)

I remember these words.

(Read all of Psalm 119)
Psalm 119:1-8 (Common English Bible)"Those whose way is blameless—who walk in the Lord’s Instruction—are truly happy! Those who guard God’s laws are truly happy! They seek God with all their hearts. They don’t even do anything wrong! They walk in God’s ways.God, you have ordered that your decreesshould be kept most carefully. How I wish my ways were strongwhen it comes to keeping your statutes! Then I wouldn’t be ashamedwhen I examine all your commandments.I will give thanks to you with a heart that does rightas I learn your righteous rules.I will keep your statutes. Please don’t leave me all alone!" ~Psalm 119:1-8 (Common English Bible)
Looking at my life as a way to honor the gifts God has graced me with brings an entirely new perspective to, “for I know the plans I have for you” (Jeremiah 29:10), in that we are to honor God by using the talents He created us with. Every day is an exercise of reflecting on, “Increase You in me LORD”  (John 3:30).

Day 919 of Giving Thanks

As humanity, we are either encouraging and helping each other on this journey to learn and grow, or tearing one another down. Those who help us, stretch us and make us better.
Thinking of "Iron sharpens iron". (Proverbs 27:17)

Ministry is engagement. At what level depends on the purpose of the ministry. So, lets engage, communicate and grow together. There is not competition, no "better", just different wills to be carried out... God's will for that ministry and those involved. Let me share how He continued this thought over the past twenty-four hours...

The LORD has been really working on me in many areas, “Engagement” in what I do, whether at my job, through ministry or with my family. I have a tendency to disconnect a bit when stress settles in… I dive into the Word, but find it difficult to engage in all the others areas of my life. I rarely ask for ‘help’ or challenge my own actions. So, as I said, lately God has really been working on me. His promise to “Never leave me”, hits home every time and His desire for me to be “Strong and Courageous” tugs at my heart deeply. When I forget these simple, yet profound and amazing words, His Words, I deny what He has for me – and I am reminded to remind others of the same. (Hebrews 13:5, 2 Chronicles 32:7)

“Your way of life should be free from the love of money, and you should be content with what you have. After all, he has said, I will never leave you or abandon you.” ~Hebrews 13:5 (Common English Bible)

A great reminder is in the words of Timothy, and the Lexam English Bible kept it in simple terms for me tonight:

“Because of this, I endure all things for the sake of the chosen, in order that they also may obtain salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. The saying is trustworthy:For if we died with Him, we will also live with Him;if we endure, we will also reign with Him;if we deny Him, He also will deny us;if we are unfaithful, He remains faithful—He cannot deny Himself.A Worker Approved to God and Not Ashamed“Remind people of these things, solemnly urging them before the Lord not to dispute about words. This is in no way beneficial and leads to the ruin of the hearers.  Make every effort to present yourself approved to God, a worker having no need to be ashamed, guiding the Word of truth along a straight path.” ~2 Timothy 2:10-15 (Lexham English Bible)

Denying God and Jesus happens, outwardly when we don't stand for what is right and what is true. Every time we allow ourselves to be quiet when we should speak up, and we don't. Or we should act, and won't. I have to be trusting and believe that I can Trust the LORD with all things.

I just got home from a very trying week; really needed all the verses that many shared with me today pertaining to His assurances on "Be Courageous", "Trust in Him" and "Be still". Some wonderful brothers and sisters share the most amazing collection of verses that completely indwelled every part that was in need tonight.

Prayer for Protection, Guidance and Pardon.A Psalm of David.“To You, O LORD, I lift up my soul.  O my God, in You I trust, Do not let me be ashamed; Do not let my enemies exult over me. Indeed, none of those who wait for You will be ashamed; Those who deal treacherously without cause will be ashamed.” ~Psalm 25:1-3 (New American Standard Bible)

Getting into the Word is essential, critical as well as required if you want to know God intimately. Reading a few words here and there is not enough, although He is enough. The only way to get to know God is by reading what He has given us and allowing the Holy Spirit to work through those words for us in our own hearts.

Don't we tend to fondly remember a kind word and down spiral with not so kind words?

With this said, wouldn't it make sense to share kind words with others, so the seeds that are planted are the fond moments for that person? And leave the not so kind words completely out of the equation and in the dark pit they belong in.

God's Word is just the refreshment to go along with this refinement.

Day 918 of Giving Thanks

God is good and He cares deeply for His children. It’s all about the lessens for me.

Sometimes we have to get smacked upside the head to see that getting smacked upside the head isn't really that good of an idea. God will show us that our ways aren't always His ways. And for me today, whatever You say LORD is good by me... getting tired of being wayward in my actions.

Your will LORD, Your way. Thank You Father that I have experiences that allow me to grow, and experiences that allow me to share.

I am not a nervous person, or a worrier in the sense that I sit around worrying about stuff going on in my life. I do have concern for things that are amiss. I have not always been empathetic through my life for those who have challenges coping emotionally, mostly because I have always just "sucked it up"... Well, I have been softening to that much lately.

And, yesterday gave me an entirely new perspective. I have been under a great deal of stress with my job, and really praying about God's plan for me in the area of my career. As I left the office yesterday, which was a pretty 'normal' day, I had a wave come over me like I have never experienced before. My immediate thought, "I left the house open this morning." Which I know wasn't true, but the panic and urgency that flooded my thoughts was uncontrollable. Then all these thoughts of horrible things encapsulated my every move and thought. It was like I couldn't bring myself back to reality, like I had just stepped off a cliff.

That drop lasted about 40 minutes; I couldn't breathe, I felt as though my heart would just stop, and in those moments, that would have been ok. I was in complete despair and a heaviness over me that was truly suffocating me, like I was drowning in every hurtful and painful memory. As I drove home, I found it hard to focus, but I didn't feel in danger; I could not get home fast enough.

I kept trying to pray, but I was speechless as well as breathless and the words were just not there - helpless and out of control with my emotions. It was horrible. I got home and confirmed everything was ok there and had to head back out for a test (academic, not medical this time) and called a friend; who helped talk me down, so to speak and prayed for my test. Which is yet another story. God did it, that's all I can say.

I am still sensing the after-effects of a bad experience. But I know God is good and He is with me. And, today is a new day. Thank You Lord for new days.

Oh how I love to get to know the "body of Christ", my brothers and sisters. I know that I am running my own race, but I am able to catch the draft of those right before me.

"We have all these great people around us as examples. Their lives tell us what faith means. So we, too, should run the race that is before us and never quit. We should remove from our lives anything that would slow us down and the sin that so often makes us fall." ~Hebrews 12:1 (Easy to Read Version)

I must realize the starting gates are open, and the race is on... the best part about this race is that we already have victory. I must realize when we allow the Holy Spirit to move in us, we move toward God, and what a great thing to share. Thank You LORD that i can share.

"and provide for those who grieve in Zion—to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor." ~Isaiah 61:3 (New International Versions)

Day 917 of Giving Thanks

Questions, concerns, doubt and uncertainty are all the things I must give to Him daily. And right now, as I fight through “feelings”, I see it as a much needed. I must remember that I give things to Him once, then believe that He’s got it; believe that I am His and truly little bits of faith, is all He asks, and He gives us big doses of grace.

I was struggling this morning to get through my reading... then I got to Genesis 8, and read these few words...

"And God remembered Noah"... He remembers you too; your cares, your worries, your "struggles"... and know this the waters will go down and the wind will subside; the storm will end, yet through it all He is with you.

"And God [earnestly] remembered Noah and every living thing and all the animals that were with him in the ark; and God made a wind blow over the land, and the waters sank down and abated." ~Genesis 8:1 (Amplified Bible)

Daily I hear through His words, “Be encouraged today, you have a God who loves you and desires you to be in His will...” Can you hear it too?

Father God in these times that are hard, according to the flesh, give us peace and joy according to Your promises and assurances. We pray for strength to endure even and especially the hard days. Whatever the challenges mighty and perfect God, we ask for wisdom to face them, and we pray that we will be greatly encouraged through Your Words - give her the encouragement she needs and the desire in our hearts to seek You wholly in Jesus' name. Amen.

Today I am grateful to the many who encourage me daily. For those who allow God to use them to bring clarity, confirmation and answers into view. Thank you for your words that encourage me and your prayers that lift and move me.

Tonight I am encouraged and greatly moved by hearing His promises once again. These are the words that have held me for this past year so perfectly.

Be Encouraged…
“For you created my inmost being;you knit me together in my mother’s womb.I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;your works are wonderful,I know that full well.” ~Psalm 139:13-14 (New International Version)
“‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’” ~Jeremiah 33:3 (New International Version)
“You (God) keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book.My enemies will retreat when I call to you for help. This I know: God is on my side!I praise God for what he has promised;yes, I praise the Lord for what he has promised.” ~Psalm 56:8-10(New Living Translation)
