Day 850 of Giving Thanks by Tina Wetor

When the house is clean, life can be in order.  Unorganization, dirt, and piles of laundry stand between the destination of an orderly week, so the family must help.  As the family works together, it brings peace, love, and the ability to learn to serve.  Besides praying together, a family needs to serve each other to bring unity.

As the house glisten with clean windows, mopped floors, and sparkling dishes-it brought a truth close to the heart.  When our hearts are filled with anxiety, worry, or sin it doesn't take long for life to be out of order.  The disfunction of daily life causes the heart to lose focus and meaning until the heart is placed in order.  It gets tiresome or overwhelming to see the depth of dirt, we can't be free until we deal with it.

As a mother with three kids, it doesn't take long for dirt to grow.  If anything it multiplies.  Yet, the beautiful mystery of the blood of Christ, one drop is only need to transform a sinner.  All of the guilt, shame, and condemnation is erased because Christ paid for it.  Earlier in the week, I used a precious gift from my husband, the Bible on CD.  Instead of listen to worship music or enjoying the silent drive, I decided to listen to the Word.  As I listen to one of great letters of Paul, my heart was overwhelmed of the depth of the power of the cross.

"When you were dead in your sins  and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ .  He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the written code , with its regulations that was against us and that stood opposed to us; he took it away, nailing it to the cross ." ~Colossians 2:13-14 (New International Version)

We are alive in Christ, dead to sin.  Although sin entrapped our lives with it's weight and deception, Christ canceled it.  OH, PRAISE THE LORD!!  When we come to Christ not only are we a new creature, the penalty is paid.  Our lives do not have to be filled with guilt or shame, we just have to be willing to deal with the dirt.  Usually in our homes, we have to use numerous items to get the job done.  Yet, our hearts only need to surrender to the redeeming love of Christ to be clean.

When the Lord reveals our sin, He comes to our aid.  We don't have to be overwhelmed with a load of care.  We can leave it at the cross.  We are washable!  It reminds me of what I tell my children when they come with a dirty shirt, "Don't worry, I can get the stain out!"

My friend, what's got your heart down tonight? What's staining your heart?  Come to Jesus, He is the only who can get the stain out.
