The Perfect Anger Management Program, God - (testimony series) by Karen Sinclair

The Perfect Anger Management Program, God
by Karen Sinclair

Hi, I’m Karen Sinclair. If you’ve ever wondered whether God hears your prayers or like me 8 years ago, if God really exists, then I hope my testimony will help you to believe that God is real and He does hear our prayers.

I grew up attending a Christian Church with my family. The older I got the more I began to doubt that God was real. I did think God hadn’t answered my prayers as a child. I wondered a lot, how does anyone really know God exists. I never thought to ask anyone because I figured they would just say “you have to have faith.” I didn’t have faith; I wanted proof.

I have three boys now. When my first son was a baby, I began noticing that I had a problem with anger. For about 7 years I felt like a volcano ready to explode and all my energy was spent trying to keep the lid on. I had no idea why I was always angry and wasn't able to control it. I yelled at my kids, and I felt like the worst mother in the world. I was terrified that I was going to crush my children’s spirits. I could see the effect my yelling was having on my children. I had two boys at this time. My kids yelled at me and at each other.

I also had road rage when I drove and yelled at every driver in my way. My son, who was about 3 at the time, began yelling from the back seat, “Get off the road.” I knew I needed to do something and soon before my son ended up just like me. I wanted so much to change. I tried, but I couldn’t change. I had no hope and was depressed. I studied other people and saw their joy and laughter, and I wondered why I felt dead inside. Nothing seemed to give me joy. People laughed out loud, but I never did. Nothing seemed funny to me. I would do nice things for other people, but I didn’t feel compassion for others.

In November 2003, I saw an ad in the newspaper for an anger resolution seminar. I asked my husband if he thought I should attend, if I had an anger problem? I could see from the look on his face, that he was afraid to answer my question. He did agree to watch the boys so I could go. I was desperate to change, so I decided to attend the seminar. I had no idea when I signed up for the seminar that it had anything to do with God (or I probably wouldn’t have gone). I thought I would learn to count to ten and control my anger. When I think back to that decision, it had to be God drawing me to him. I rarely read the newspaper, and when I did, I usually just glanced at the headings and checked to see what jobs were being advertised. It’s amazing that I even saw the advertisement.

When I arrived at the seminar, I was startled to find that I knew a couple of the people there. I wondered why they would be there, as I thought the seminar would only be for horrible, angry people like me. I hoped they wouldn’t notice me and I sunk down in my chair. The seminar was a Friday evening and full day on Saturday. As supper was included on Saturday, I had no choice but to talk to the people I knew. Ashamed, I admitted to a lady I barely knew that I had a problem with anger. Although I didn’t attend church, I brought my two boys to Sunday School each week and I knew her from there. While we were talking, I burst into tears and told her what I was struggling with. She prayed for me and we finished watching the seminar together. I couldn’t stop crying and could barely focus on the rest of the seminar. I couldn’t wait to get out of there and go home.

The seminar talked a lot about forgiveness, but it also talked about crying out to God, and He would take away my anger. I guess at some point during the seminar I began to have faith, and I couldn't wait to get home and try crying out to God. I never made it home; on the ride home in my car, I was crying very hard and I cried out to God. I think I asked him to take away my pain. I don’t think I mentioned anything about anger. Instantly I felt the tears drying up on my face. I felt strange and peaceful and I wondered what was happening to me. I tried to continue to cry but couldn't. I thought, "Is God really taking away my anger?" I went into the house and didn’t say anything to anyone. Later, when I was trying to put my boys to bed, they were running around the house and jumping on my bed. Normally I would be yelling at them by now, but I didn’t feel any anger.

After the boys went to bed, I sat down to watch television with my husband. He saw watching some show where people were being killed, but I just sat there with the biggest smile on my face and such a feeling of peace that I had never felt before. I still couldn’t believe what had happened to me. I went to bed without saying a word to my husband.

The next morning the boys joined us in bed and were horsing around. My son hit his head on mine. Every time this had happened in the past, I would become instantly furious and yell, regardless of whether I was actually hurt or not. I waited for the burst of anger, but it didn’t come. I then got up to start cleaning the kitchen. When I opened the dishwasher, I saw that the dishes were thrown in every direction and were covered with food. I would normally be very upset that the dishes weren’t done the way I like them to be done. This time I didn’t seem to mind.

I knew then that God had given me a miracle, and I told my husband what God had done for me. For so many years I wondered if God really exists. I needed Him to, but I had so many doubts. I needed proof, and I finally got it. I have no doubts today that God exists. I used to not be able to make it through an hour without feeling angry. I have not had a moment of road rage since that day. For one month, I didn't feel anger about anything. It was a strange feeling. I would tense up when I expected something to make me angry, and then the anger wouldn't come. It felt like God was holding it back. I remember getting a glimpse of the old anger, like God opened the door for a second for me to see and then shut it quickly before it got out.

I notice that sometimes when I am watching TV, I will laugh out loud. What a great feeling it is to laugh. People always used to tell me to smile. On the inside I thought I was smiling, but when I looked in a mirror, I had a permanent frown. I thought that's just the way my face is. Now I look in the mirror and I don't even recognize me. There's a smile on my face and life in my eyes that was never there before. On that day God gave me a new heart. One that feels compassion and love for other people that I didn’t feel before. It’s been a journey ever since that day, but I will never forget that moment when I encountered God for the first time and my life was forever changed.

God is real and he hears your prayers. God bless you!

Day 810 of Giving Thanks

I have days that I just want to pull the covers over my head and hide or start over. And, sometimes it’s a moment in the day that ‘feel’ that way. I allowed that to happen yesterday, and I didn’t pull anything over my head and I didn’t hide, but today I start over. There are times when shutting my mouth are appropriate, yet, I have not figured that out yet. Put the past behind me, start fresh and make it a new day; and this works for the moment following this one.

Lord, help me remove the memory of things said from my mouth that are harmful, as well as the thoughts that do not give life; let me speak in kindness, gentleness and truth, not just to others, but to me as well. Let me ground my thoughts in the things that will edify You today. As I reflect, let me relay Your love, rather than the condemnation that so easily hits the heart and tries so desperately to take up residency where it and does not belong. Let me see Your greatness that You deliver to my life; let me reflect You and deflect all that comes from the enemy. Let me hear the wise words from those who speak, and eliminate the words that are placed as distracting filler to keep me in that place of despair. Father, help me be forgiving, yet receptive; help me to be honest in the changes I need, yet not defeat the changes You have already orchestrated and produced through repeated sabotage. It is in Your strength Lord that I greatly count on daily and in all my moments, whether I acknowledge it or not, whether I see it or not; let it be recognized deeply within me. It is through You that I am encouraged and edified, it is You who I seek in all times, good and bad. And, today, once again, I am grateful for the perfect love from You. I pray that my words today are well received, those written and those spoken. Let it be through understanding love from Your perspective and keeping the love from You at the forefront. All things, Lord Jesus, can only be brought through You and I trust the perfect delivery of my heart’s cries today. Thank You Jesus for the Holy Spirit’s power and strength. Amen.

Yesterday, 1 Corinthians 13 was a steady theme, over and over… it is the perfect love of God the Father, Jesus my savior and the Holy Spirit my help in all times.

“1 If I speak in the tongues[a] of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast,[b] but do not have love, I gain nothing.
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
“8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
“13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” ~1 Corinthians (New International Version)

Day 809 of Giving Thanks

Do you know about the greatest love story ever told? Have you ever felt that something or someone is missing from your life? Have you had a feeling that although you were alone, that you really were not alone?

That my friend is God, calling, nudging, urging you to come to Him. He is there, waiting and has been since before you were born. Today, my prayer is that if you do not know Him, that You will hear His voice. Head bowed, eyes up, arms down, arms wide - doesn't really matter, what matters is the desires of the heart and to worship our God.

Troubled? Believe in Me. Come to Me. Rest in Me. Trust in Me. ~God

Let us see You LORD for who You are.

We do not become wise through books, but in His word, and in the power of the Holy Spirit. Depending on God, that is wise.

My treasure is the presence of Christ. My comforts come from the Father. And, as I sit here and think about what makes me comfortable, I know that my thoughts must change. When we think of God's comfort, it is not ease in circumstances; it really means strength in the circumstance. We can endure comfortably in Christ... (2nd Corinthians)

Thank You for welcoming me to Your presence whenever I ask. It is truly my day's pleasure to be here. Let it be a regular occurrence over and over.

To the world... you know that you have no hold on me. I have a destiny much greater than the riches AND spoils you offer. I am preparing for life eternal with my Creator. What you offer is empty and worthless. You don't have to keep trying to lure me, but I know you will, so I will keep going to my Father to keep me grounded in Him. I have the greatest of all things, even if my earthly possessions are few. Someday I will be able to say, farewell world forever.

Because of God, we have the power, through the power of the Holy Spirit that blows everything else away. Let us remember to come prepared to the daily exercise of life. Every day we have an opportunity to show that power by giving all of our cares to the LORD. Be strengthened by His love and by His promises. You are wonderfully made, loved greatly and have the favor of a mighty and perfect God...

So, knowing this, all things are possible and all things can be met head on in courage and strength.

Inspired by many verses... (Ephesians 6, 1 Corinthians 12, Psalm 139, Matthew 19:26, 1 John 4:10, Psalm 31:24 and I am sure I could go on and on...)

Day 806 of Giving Thanks

“Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will exalt you.” ~James 4:10

The amazing timing of God and His lessons constantly blow me away. We all have things in our life that we want to change. It's when we allow God to do the changing that we will get want we want - as long as the change is His will, it will be done. There are times when pride takes over, the desire to be right and in the right seem so darn important, yet it’s in the moments when doing right is most important. Today, I pray that doing right is not effortless but dependent. It is when I start to believe that I am already humble that I need to be aware that humility is more in need. I am convinced that every day is a lesson in humility, and that every moment is a chance to be humbled God’s way.

LORD, I know my heart can be greatly deceived and in that deceit become greatly convicted. Let me see how to set my heart, mind and soul on the ways of You Lord, Jesus. Let my heart be set on You, so all can be right in my heart. In Your name Jesus, and with the power of the Holy Spirit, this is my plea.

"Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."" John 14:6 (New International Version)

"If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." ~Romans 10:9 (New International Version)

Now that is security.
“Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God - children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God.” ~John 1:12-13 (New International Version)

He loves us so much, that He did the unthinkable so we can have eternity with Him.
“We love Him because He first loved us.” ~1 John 4:19 (New King James Versions)

All we have to "do" is choose Him, because He has done it all.
“Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God - children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God.” ~"John 1:12-13 (New International Version)

How can I not be humble? How can I not show His love intensely toward others at all times? With all He did for me, so that I can have an eternity of hope and more love than conceivably possible, knowing all this, should keep me grounded, right?

I am grateful that I can be re-grounded when needed, and it is truly my desire to be in His will and on path to become who He desires me to be. From my perspective, I see this (at times) as so much work, but you know, God’s got this too. I trust that He’s got me.

There are more things to thank my heavenly Father about than I can even begin to share. Thank You Father for holding me so tightly, and giving me so much assurance and the deepest love possible. Thank You for allowing me many opportunities to see You in my days and in so many moments.

“But He gives a greater grace. Therefore it says, "God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble." ~James 4:6

Philippians 2 reminds us to be more like Christ – how grateful I am that He humbled Himself for me, that He set the example for me, for us. Jesus, thank You, thank You for showing You so we can be like You.

“Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life. And then I will be able to boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor in vain. But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering on the sacrifice and service coming from your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you. So you too should be glad and rejoice with me.” ~Philippians 2:14-18 (New International Version)

Day 805 of Giving Thanks

LORD, help me stay grounded. There are so many injustices in this world that can take me through whirlwinds and into devastated moments if I allow it, and I do not know where that grounding is. Help me to remember that You are in charge, that there is a plan and we are to be joyful in knowing our destiny. Help me to be strong with each step, to grow with every obstacle that is overcome and shine Your light greatly because of the hope I know and live out.

I am grateful for where I came from, what I have experienced for without them, I would not be me – and finally after many years, I like me – the me that God has guided and is perfecting. What I am more grateful for is the perfect God who loves me.

What old fears are swallowing you up? It’s time to let go of the past, and step into today. Make it a day that is new, renewed and the best you can have. Can’t do it on your own? That’s okay. You have the Holy Spirit to guide you through and keep you “on task”. Know this, God will wrap you in all that you need.

I heard my pastor say, “Stop the fear, start to live”. In the moments when I become overwhelmed, I need to remember that with God in me, I can live greatly and in confidence because God has always been with me.  If we are to be like Christ, than we must live to know that we were designed to live confidently no matter what our circumstances are. We are to realize the power and strength we have within us at every moment.

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.  But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.” ~James 1:2-6 (New International Version)

Now onto the lesson that has been swelling in my heart and thoughts for two days. As we read Hebrews 2:5-18, it is clear that Jesus, who is God became what we are so we can become what He is (PERFECTED). We needed restoration and redemption, and a savior was our only way. God sends His Son, who is wholly God, but on earth, wholly human. We have to grasp this, so we can understand what He has accomplished. In verses 5-12, the stage is set to who were are – we are to rule the earth, above the angels, joint heir with Jesus. Unbelievable, right? Believe it… it was foretold, (see Gen. 1:26-28 and Psalm 8:4-6)

“It is not to angels that he has subjected the world to come, about which we are speaking. But there is a place where someone has testified:
“What is mankind that you are mindful of them, a son of man that you care for him? You made them a little lower than the angels; you crowned them with glory and honor and put everything under their feet.”
“In putting everything under them, God left nothing that is not subject to them. Yet at present we do not see everything subject to them. But we do see Jesus, who was made lower than the angels for a little while, now crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone.
“In bringing many sons and daughters to glory, it was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should make the pioneer of their salvation perfect through what he suffered. 11Both the one who makes people holy and those who are made holy are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters. He says,
   “I will declare your name to my brothers and sisters;
in the assembly I will sing your praises.”[Psalm 22:22]
“Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by His death He might break the power of Him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil—and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death.  For surely it is not angels He helps, but Abraham’s descendants. For this reason He had to be made like them, [Or like his brothers] fully human in every way, in order that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people. Because He Himself suffered when He was tempted, He is able to help those who are being tempted.” ~Hebrews 2:14-18 (New International Version)

What can you do to know that He’s got this? Whatever “this” is in your life, God’s already prepared and done what is necessary.

Other references:
Genesis 1:26-28
"Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals,[a] and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”

Psalm 8:4-6
"what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them? You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor. You made them rulers over the works of your hands; you put everything under their feet:"

Psalm 22:22
"I will declare your name to my people; in the assembly I will praise you."

Day 804 of Giving Thanks

My life is not at all what I expected, and today I am more expectant of amazing things than ever before.  As I pray each day, I ask for a discerning Spirit, and yet I know that what I sense, may not be what someone else senses. My convictions will be different, my thoughts are different and the way I process will be different than everyone else. It’s because we are all unique and have all had different paths to lead us to this very moment.

We all have people that rub us the wrong way and those who seem to go against our own belief construct but are they wrong, or just different? Let us show grace abundantly, not just when convenient, but out of habit.

Embrace our differences. Love the challenge of accepting variety. For that is what makes us one - we all fit together, God has the blueprint of how we all fit, and who are we to question who He creates?

“You, then, why do you judge your brother or sister? Or why do you treat them with contempt? For we will all stand before God’s judgment seat. It is written:
“‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord,
‘every knee will bow before me;
   every tongue will acknowledge God.’”
"So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God.” ~Romans 14:10-12 (New International Version)

We do have free will, and the ability to choose what we do, let us concentrate on our own stuff, and let the stuff of others be between them and God.

I expect to change and to grow, how about you?

Focus on God, and count on the guide of the Holy Spirit, dive into His Word and thank Jesus for the process. Let the Holy Spirit be the change in us. Let us see the good in others efforts, let us be the encouragement for those that others do not encourage.

We are called to love the unlovable, and knowing that I am one of the unlovables, make it even more real. Is it easy? Not at all. Is it enjoyable? Well, that all depends on where you receive joy and satisfaction. Love the unlovable in the strength of the Holy Spirit. Ask that you love and reciprocation of that love be fulfilled by the love that God has for you. Let it be an act of love, no ties, no expectations, just the love of Christ flowing out to those, or even that someone, who needs love so greatly, yet does not know how to love you back. This is not a suggestion or just “nice” words, it is a command Jesus left us with.

“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” ~John 13:34-35 (English Standard Version)

Love One Another

“For this is the message that you have heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.” ~1 John 3:11 (English Standard Version)

If you are teaching, discipling or otherwise sharing God’s Word, by all means, I am talking to you, not to judge, but to inform. We are not to make others stumble because we cannot “get it together”, meaning, be united in our love for one another. We do not have to agree on all points, but we must not be a hindrance or obstacle to those looking at us as an example of faith.

I am grateful for all those with differing opinions and viewpoints today. I expect to learn and grow from my daily experiences and exposure to others.

Day 803 of Giving Thanks

Daily I realize how broken I truly am. How much I need His perfecting and repair; and how much I need His mercy and favor. Our biggest challenges drive from our thoughts.

Let us keep all of our thoughts captive toward Christ today.

Today, as I sat in the doctor’s office, once again, I heard more of the same, something that I suspected; and there is no need to digest, no need to process, for nothing has changed because of any confirmation.

It is nothing terminal, but we are all terminal. We will all die from this world. Now, this is not a fatalistic view, this is truth. At some point, our life here will end, and we will step into eternity. It will be death, no God or life, with God.

“Three times I called upon the Lord and besought [Him] about this and begged that it might depart from me;
“But He said to me, My grace (My favor and loving-kindness and mercy) is enough for you [sufficient against any danger and enables you to bear the trouble manfully]; for My strength and power are made perfect (fulfilled and completed) and show themselves most effective in [your] weakness. Therefore, I will all the more gladly glory in my weaknesses and infirmities, that the strength and power of Christ (the Messiah) may rest (yes, may pitch a tent over and dwell) upon me!
“So for the sake of Christ, I am well pleased and take pleasure in infirmities, insults, hardships, persecutions, perplexities and distresses; for when I am weak [in human strength], then am I [truly] strong (able, powerful in divine strength).”~2 Corinthians 12:8-10 (Amplified Bible)

I realize many truths in my life, yet if I focus on some truths, I could stop me completely in my tracks. So, today as I look at the facts and information, I know one thing for sure; it has never been “the findings” that defines me. It is a mighty and faithful God who defines me; who loves me and only does things to make me better, more appreciative, more loving, more pliable and more HIS and my relationship with Him - that will always be what defines me.

How do I become more of who He desires me to be? I LET GO of my ideals, and wait to discover His for me.

Perfection is something that I only "think" I know how to define, but it's nothing near what I can comprehend. When I "think" of perfection, the only word I can use to describe it is God (which is all inclusive of God the Father, God the Christ and God, the Holy Spirit).

Let me not look at earthly things to be perfect, but to God to be perfected. Let me not focus on circumstances, but on how I am defined by God that gives hope and thankfulness. Let me dwell on Him, and “just know” that what He has for me is the greatest of all things to be grateful for. Let me dwell on knowing His plans and will are perfect, even though I am not.

‎"And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him." ~Hebrews 11:6 (New International Version)

What is not seen is all the healing that has occurred in my life, and all the change that has taken hold. Thank You God.

Day of 802 of Giving Thanks by Tina Wetor

When a life is completely surrendered to God, He will do the impossible in anyone’s life.  Although I have prayed years for my father’s salvation, the precious aftermath is still amazing to adjust to.  Who is this man?  Although the weak voice is familiar on the phone, the words are quite different.  My father has changed, it’s truly a miracle but I am still can’t comprehend the vastness.

If words can heal the soul, I am being soaked with affection.  My deepest desire has always been to be the “twinkle” in my father’s eyes.  Most of life, I was starved for any affection or words of affirmation from my father.  As I grew up, I was hoping my relationship with my father would be healed.  So many years have passed, hope almost died especially with dad fighting cancer.  Yet, I have peace to know my dad isn’t fighting God, he surrendered.

We will never get a chance to make-up the past but we can make choices for a brighter future.  It’s only through God’s power a miracle occurs, so when a sinner repents-a miracle was born.  It isn’t easy during the beginning of our faith, we are adapting to a new way of living.  Our thoughts, our attitudes, and choices are being transformed from our old way of life.  It’s learning daily to die to our desires so Christ can reign within our hearts.  Christ reigns!  Nothing will change this truth but the power of this truth resonates within a transformed heart.

Regardless of whatever a sinner has done, they all deserve the opportunity to be transformed.  Even if the Gospel has been presented a thousand times, we can never give up on them.  When we grasp that this an eternal issue, we will make it an important issue. It’s too precious an opportunity, so we must share it until the truth shatters the darkness.

One Sunday morning, I was worshipping the Lord in church service.  Yet, I admit my heart was fretting over what was happening to my father who was just admitted to the hospital.  It’s not easy being a million miles apart but my sister was present with him.  When I returned to the pew, my cell phone showed the text-“Dad has cancer.”  At that moment, the Lord spoke to my heart with a message to give my father.  As I wept with brokenness, I was strengthened with the message from the Lord.  Although cancer entered my father’s body, it was time to choose to fight for life.  It wasn’t about life on this earth, it was about eternal life.

Regardless of what is happening in our lives, God can do the impossible.  Whether it’s saving the vilest of sinners, healing the leper, or strengthens the fragile hope of His child-God is our present help.  He is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.  Oh the joy of His fellowship is beyond description.  The love of His kisses is sweeter as He lifts my fragile soul to peace; God’s love does impossible things.  It’s what I am truly thankful for.

For nothing is impossible for God. Luke 1:37

Day 801 of Giving Thanks by Darci Escandon

Denial. So many people deny so many things. Ignoring a situation does not make it go away, it just makes it harder to deal with when the time comes. It’s been a looong and hard week for my family. My mother in law has “looked” pregnant for the 15 years I have known here. During that time, Her health has started to fail. She complains that things hurt but yet, will not go see a doctor. She thinks they are all idiots. That all changed last Saturday when she had to go into the hospital for shortness of breath. After many tests, they determined that she had a 27.5 centimeter mass growing from her abdomen area.

Before I continue, let me give you a brief backstory. When I met my husband 15 years ago, his mother hated me. I know hate is a strong word, but it’s the best word to describe her feelings towards me. Thankfully, God has given me the gift of thick skin. I don’t take offense to the things she says and I have learned how to handle her. God is amazing. Sometimes, I don’t understand why He puts certain people in my life, especially those that can be so hurtful with their words. She is a difficult woman to love, very mean and stubborn. But, she is still a child of God. So many times, I have wanted to yell back, to poke back, to return the hurtful words, and I have done that, on occasion. But, God’s word says:
“Don't hit back; discover beauty in everyone. If you've got it in you, get along with everybody. Don't insist on getting even; that's not for you to do. "I'll do the judging," says God. "I'll take care of it."~Romans 12:17-19 (The Message Bible)

It hasn’t been an easy 15 years, that’s for sure. But she is the mother of my husband and God has been able to allow me to see her as HE sees her, one of His children, created in His image. And now, ironically, the one that has been her memory, her care giver, her strength, the person that has been at the hospital every day since being admitted, talking to the doctors, updating the family, holding her hand, has been the person she dislikes the most. God leads, I follow.  After her surgery, we were told that the surgeon had to remove a 100 pound mass from her abdomen. 100 pounds. That’s a small human being. It wasn’t cancerous and my mother in law is a walking miracle. No one can comprehend how she could be in denial for so long with something like that growing inside of her.

She will never appreciate me, and that’s ok. I don’t do this to be appreciated. I act because God leads. When I learned how to do that, to do things not because of what I will get back, but because of what God says in my life, I have a peace and comfort in me that I can’t explain. It’s like God takes the hurt from the words and turns them away. They never get to me. My armor is up and God’s word is my shield.

Life can be hard. People can hurt us easily. Offense is being given constantly but we don’t have to choose to take it. What I have learned this week is that when God is our strength, when we allow Him to lead, the enemy can do his best, but he can’t bring us down. God is bigger and always will be. Denial causes us to miss so many things. Like her 100 pound mass, many of us are walking around in sin not realizing just how dangerous it is. Many of us refuse to come to terms with what is happening in our lives because it’s easier to just look the other way. But sin, like my mother in law’s health, will always come out into the open one way or another. It will also cause us to treat people differently and to look at God differently.

Lord, thank you for your grace and mercy and for providing me your patience. Lord, you get the glory in this. It is because of you I can help someone who dislikes me so much. Lord, you are my strength and my rock and it is because of you, that my mother in law is healing and is alive. Lord, you are amazing and I love you. Thank you for being faithful and constant in my life. Thank you for turning my mistakes into miracles and for always walking with me. ~Amen.

Day 800 of Giving Thanks

Did you know that God works through people and that we are designed to need others?

All of us have opinions, convictions and otherwise points of view, however, these are the things that should not divide us; these things just make us different.

We are equipped uniquely and differently – our gifts are revealed to us in ways that only God understands, and we are placed perfectly in the body of Christ. Brothers and sisters, we are to remember that we are all necessary, people need you just as you are in Christ. Because God made you, you are important, special and complimentary to many and we must expect to be best utilized by working together – working to the best of our own abilities, as well as to the most of our abilities in the strength of the Holy Spirit.

We are all very different, but we are all created by the same God; all knowing, all powerful and perfect.

“Now there are distinctive varieties and distributions of endowments (gifts, extraordinary powers distinguishing certain Christians, due to the power of divine grace operating in their souls by the Holy Spirit) and they vary, but the [Holy] Spirit remains the same.
“And there are distinctive varieties of service and ministration, but it is the same Lord [Who is served].
“And there are distinctive varieties of operation [of working to accomplish things], but it is the same God Who inspires and energizes them all in all.
“But to each one is given the manifestation of the [Holy] Spirit [the evidence, the spiritual illumination of the Spirit] for good and profit.
“To one is given in and through the [Holy] Spirit [the power to speak] a message of wisdom, and to another [the power to express] a word of knowledge and understanding according to the same [Holy] Spirit;” ~1 Corinthians 12:4-8

I am grateful that I am different, unique yet come from the same Creator as you, my brothers and sisters. There is truly a bond, one which, if used as designed, cannot break and can be an amazing force in this world that we are visitors to. Let us strengthen one another, encourage one another and love one another through the same edification of Jesus Christ. Let us dwell on who created us, rather than what can separate us.

“For the body does not consist of one limb or organ but of many.” ~1 Corinthians 12:14

“But earnestly desire and zealously cultivate the greatest and best gifts and graces (the higher gifts and the choicest graces). And yet I will show you a still more excellent way [one that is better by far and the highest of them all--love].” ~1 Corinthians 12:31

Day 799 of Giving Thanks

How do I write? That is a good question, and every day, the process is somewhat the same. During the day, I receive little tidbits, ideas, inspirations and comments. By the time it’s time to write, I grab all these words, place them on the page and amazingly enough, there is cohesion. Sometimes a story, sometimes a series of lessons and many times things that I need to tell myself as I grow more toward God. All I want every day is for my thoughts to be the thoughts from all the verses, songs, lessons and corrections I have learned in this walk.

So every day it is, “Good morning world... know this, I may live here, but my destiny is elsewhere. Every day my thoughts are to become closer to God, more like Christ in the hope of heaven. But I do have to live on earth, the key is dwelling in Him every opportunity I can, praying continually and praising for everything.”

The enemy will do all he can to keep me from hope, joy and moving forward, but he cannot be blamed for my lack of faith. This is mine ‘to own’ and ‘yours to own’. I choose to believe God. I choose to believe who God is. I choose to believe the work of Jesus, and through all of it, I get to know who Jesus is. I choose to trust in the strength of the Holy Spirit to be present every time I ask, as well as every time I need Him.

“With my lips have I declared and recounted all the ordinances of Your mouth.
“I have rejoiced in the way of Your testimonies as much as in all riches.
“I will meditate on Your precepts and have respect to Your ways [the paths of life marked out by Your law].
“I will delight myself in Your statutes; I will not forget Your word.
“Deal bountifully with Your servant, that I may live; and I will observe Your word [hearing, receiving, loving, and obeying it].” ~Psalm 119:13-17 (Amplified Bible)

My friends, it's time to grow up! It’s time to grow up in faith. It's time for to make this move toward God. He's here for every moment, are you?

How do I love more than I am capable of loving? How do I forgive more than I am capable of forgiving? How do I give more than I am capable of giving? I am to be more like Christ, not in my power but in His through the living and perfecting power of the Holy Spirit in me (God in me). How can I fail?

“Make me understand the way of Your precepts; so shall I meditate on and talk of Your wondrous works.
“My life dissolves and weeps itself away for heaviness; raise me up and strengthen me according to [the promises of] Your word.
“Remove from me the way of falsehood and unfaithfulness [to You], and graciously impart Your law to me.
“I have chosen the way of truth and faithfulness; Your ordinances have I set before me.
“I cleave to Your testimonies; O Lord, put me not to shame!
“I will [not merely walk, but] run the way of Your commandments, when You give me a heart that is willing.
“Teach me, O Lord, the way of Your statutes, and I will keep it to the end [steadfastly].
“Give me understanding, that I may keep Your law; yes, I will observe it with my whole heart.
Make me go in the path of Your commandments, for in them do I delight.” ~Psalm 119:27-35 (Amplified Bible)

He has the best lessons from our circumstances.

Growth requires effort and purposefulness. Stability comes from staying in the Word. I must not fool myself, without God's instructions; I will be unprepared and haphazard.

How do I write? I write through His lessons, simply, through His work in me! And, quite truly I can write through eternity as long as I reside in this body, on this earth because there is so much to improve. The greatest gift though, is that He accepts me for me, and carries me through to who ‘me’ is supposed to be.

“Give me a helping hand, for I have chosen to follow your commandments.
“O LORD, I have longed for your rescue, and your instructions are my delight.
“Let me live so I can praise you, and may your regulations help me.” ~Psalm 119:173-175 (New Living Translation)

Day 798 of Giving Thanks

Thank You for hearing me Lord. All praises for the work of the LORD God; with my hands Father, I will work for You, within my life, I will transform.

Thankfully, He hears every word of repentance, every muttering of need and every heart-felt plea for change; and my heart breaks because He also hears all my doubt, my fear and my contentions. LORD, help me realize all that You have for me, so I can realize all that I am for You.

A few days ago, someone I love said something to me that shed light on some of my flaws – things that definitely needing to be brought to the LORD – I realize that true exposure does not feel good, and often times the sting continues as the healing occurs. As I listened, I felt that “old desire” to be defensive, righteous and really wanted to fight back. But something deep within me settled in, listened and prayed through the entire oratory. Right there, as though a bright light was shining to the truth; I was exposed, right to the heart. I have learned, that getting to the truth is the greatest of rewards. He corrects me, and I am grateful.

“For you have been granted [the privilege] for Christ's sake not only to believe in (adhere to, rely on, and trust in) Him, but also to suffer in His behalf.” ~Philippians 1:29 (Amplified Bible)

Every day, make it your prayer as you go through the day. Remember to keep God in your thoughts, your focus. Every day, I will pray and pray and praise and praise. My prayers will not cease. My hope is intact, and my life is covered. (1 Thessalonians 5:17)

“For God is my witness how I long for and pursue you all with love, in the tender mercy of Christ Jesus [Himself]!
And this I pray: that your love may abound yet more and more and extend to its fullest development in knowledge and all keen insight [that your love may display itself in greater depth of acquaintance and more comprehensive discernment],
“So that you may surely learn to sense what is vital, and approve and prize what is excellent and of real value [recognizing the highest and the best, and distinguishing the moral differences], and that you may be untainted and pure and unerring and blameless [so that with hearts sincere and certain and unsullied, you may approach] the day of Christ [not stumbling nor causing others to stumble].
May you abound in and be filled with the fruits of righteousness (of right standing with God and right doing) which come through Jesus Christ (the Anointed One), to the honor and praise of God [that His glory may be both manifested and recognized].” ~Philippians 1:9-11 (Amplified Bible)

The New International Version of the same verse says, And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ,  filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God.

And this my prayer…” so, you may wonder what happened after the light was shed on my flaws – well, it’s all in God’s hands and and my heart-felt desire to change.

Day 797 of Giving Thanks

I just took a huge leap of faith today. Beginning something that I believe I was just released to do. LORD, thank You for making me wait; thank You for the signs to move and peace to move confidently toward the next phase of this journey... new direction, can't wait to see.

‘So be subject to God. Resist the devil [stand firm against him], and he will flee from you." ~James 4:7 (Amplified Bible)

I am a ‘take charge’ kind of person. I see a need, I just work to fill it. And, this has worked fairly well through most of my life. But the exception to this comes when it’s not my job to get the need filled and I need to let God do it. That recently happened when I made the decision to make a move because I wanted to do it, not because I was being led to do it.

Less of me LORD, less of me. “He must become greater; I must become less.” ~John 3:30 (New International Version) I am learning to look now and wait to see; wait to see what God has for me; wait to see who God puts before me; wait on God (period)! I am learning to listen to "me" is like getting direction directly from the enemy. Why? Because I am unreliable on my own. I am only great and powerful with the Holy Spirit. And, frankly, that is good enough for me, because Jesus is more than everything I need - more of You LORD, more of You.

The other day as I completed my prayer time and pleading to the LORD to release me from this one thing (a big thing, I might add). I have felt captive by this desire, and although it may not be an instant ‘fix’ but I do know it is already fixed. I am just waiting to realize it. One confirmation – wait; two confirmation – still wait; three confirmation – go with God.

There are really no new words under the sun to describe what amazing things our God is for us, however, we can share all of His words and our words, and new responses can be accomplished as the Holy Spirit works in hearts.

How great is our God?
How great is our God!

As a child, my passion was gymnastics – it wasn’t just what I did, it was “what I was”. And, although I was very competitive, I fought constantly with myself when I came up against a friend. I remember saying, she “needs” this more than I do – and there were a few times that giving up my edge allowed someone else to get into the game. But in retrospect, I really did nothing for either one of us. It allowed me to do less than I could – often times, decreasing the expectation of myself. It gave that other gymnast a unfair and undesired disadvantage in the long run. I tried to be in control so much of my life, to “make people” like me – and what I have learned, that control and controlling actually dishonors me. Every day I pray to let God's control be harnessed in my life.

God has told me "just wait, on..." on many occasions, and I am learning to honor that. Every day my thoughts are…

Choose well today.
Choose to take that leap of faith .
Choose to be still and quiet, and listen.
Choose to improve that relationship.
Choose to forgive an unforgivable act.
Choose to love someone who is unlovable
Choose to risk it all on Jesus..

Why? Because He did much more for you.

Today, might be the day you decide to make peace with those thoughts that hold you in struggle, that keep you captive in the past or unable to forgive. Today might be the day that peace enters your heart and you can truly sing, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.", in honesty.

Peace is internal realization, not an external expectation. (Luke 2:14) Today, I have peace to move when He tells me, and peace when I am to wait. It all comes down to trust; TRUSTING GOD, not me.

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding
Bible verse on trust in the Lord with all your heart
Isaiah 26:4 NIV Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD, the LORD himself, is the Rock eternal.

Day 794 of Giving Thanks

The transformation can be easy or hard...

Our lives can be lived with the eyes of the world or through the eyes that God gave us. And, every day our vision gets better, because as we get to know Him our perspective about our life here changes. We transform.

We cannot be bystanders in this life. We cannot allow life to happen to us, that's when it is hard. We must allow God to move. That is done by putting all of our trust in Him. Not because we have to, because He desires us to.

"But blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him." ~Jeremiah 17:7 (NIV)

Webster's Dictionary has 58 definitions for hard, that shows me that the word "hard" is quite flexible, unlike the definition we read. Hard #6: involving a great deal of effort, energy, or persistence: hard labor; hard study. #7: performing or carrying on work with great effort, energy, or persistence: a hard worker. #8: vigorous or violent in force; severe: a hard rain; a hard fall. We are in a battle, battles take a great deal of effort, but again, who is in control? Am I confronting my life or submitting it?

I can choose another word for hard, like exciting, revealing, interesting, fascinating, etc. OR I can change my definition to hard - I will choose other words - I must always REMEMBER, all of my words are words of testimony to whoever hears them. My life, and how I live my life is an example. Is it an example or a warning? What sounds better? "My life is so hard." or "My life is revealing."

There is the saying, 'pain of regret, or pain from change'; the latter is the easier (but never easy) -

I remember my days, when I was dealing with the same things I am dealing with now (health, family, job, issues in general, daily life), and, I can tell you my life use to be hard and very cyclical. For me the going to a mighty God, laying every single thing before Him is easy.

Matthew 11:29 (NIV) "Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls."

He is there to take on what we cannot - that is great assurance and peace of mind. Peace of mind says it all. How can anything be hard with peace of mind and an assurance of my future?

Ecclesiastes 8:15 (CEV) "So I think we should get as much out of life as we possibly can. There is nothing better than to enjoy our food and drink and to have a good time. Then we can make it through this troublesome life that God has given us here on earth."

He promises that our life here will not be easy, and at the same time commands us to "enjoy life", we cannot have joy when we dwell in the hard. Living life with attitude for me, is living life with a good attitude, and the only reason I can do that is because I know this life is my "temporary" life, and although I am in the present, and living it, I do know there is something amazing and more than I can ever imagine waiting. The reward is not in this life but the next.

I choose to recognize my circumstances, but live for the reward. Our circumstances are what they are, we can complain our way through life and dwell on "life is so hard", or run with life is an adventure, and yes, I will go through much, but I will never go through anything without the protection, provision and presence of my creator.

Greetings and welcome to my life, at least tid-bits of it. My name is Shawn Delia Boreta, and I am honored that you have decided to read some of my story. My life is average and ordinary, by most accounts. And, yes, I want more and every day I get a little bit better in striving. My journey in writing these words is both self healing and self expressive.

I believe that everyone has their own voice, a voice that sometimes others need to hear or a vision that must be shared or words that just need to be put down for one's own accomplishment. If these words are only read by three sets of eyes, then my mission is accomplished.

Day 793 of Giving Thanks Daily by Sue King

It’s a trust thing..

So much of our everyday lives depend on us trusting others to do ‘the right thing’.

We trust that other drivers are going to stay on their side of the road and follow the road rules when we are out driving our cars. Mostly they do. Sometimes though, the danger is highlighted as we watch car after car drive past us with only a few inches separating us.

When we go into a restaurant and order a meal we trust that we will be served what we have ordered, for the advertised price and that the kitchen staff are following hygiene rules; the waiters following rules of good service. And mostly they do.

At the doctor’s surgery we trust that the doctor we see does have the qualifications he says he does. There are checks in place but mostly it’s a trust thing.

If we can place our trust in fallible human beings- why is it so hard to trust in our heavenly Father. Why do we doubt that He has and will provide all that we need. He possesses all power, and all wisdom, and what He doesn’t have He can make more of. He’s everywhere and knows about every danger I might be heading for, every hurdle I need to cross.

Why is it so hard? For me- it’s because the world tells me to stand tall and be strong and the world is so firmly fixed within that I find it hard to purge every part of it.
My Father, YOUR Father, assures us that when we surrender and trust in Him alone- He can be relied upon. That’s a promise from an infallible God.

"But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." ~2 Corinthians 12:9 (New International Version)

Day 792 of Giving Thanks

“Those who disregard discipline despise themselves, but the one who heeds correction gains understanding.” ~Proverbs 15:32 (New International Version)

I am trying to keep it simple on my part and let God do all the major and life changing things for me. This comes from many years of doing the complete opposite; correction, probably most of my life. It’s really time to realize that it CAN be different moving forward.

LORD, how do I give it all to You when I don't know what all of it really is? Help me LORD to see it all, to give it all and to trust in You through it all.

Let me always please You Jesus, and not be disheartened when man is not pleased with me. Let me revel in right, truth and growing in faith.

How great is Your faithfulness. How great is Your Word. How great is Your purpose and plan. I am ready to be revived tonight. Thank You for doing so.

"Consider how I love Your precepts; revive me and give life to me, O Lord, according to Your loving-kindness!
“The sum of Your word is truth [the total of the full meaning of all Your individual precepts]; and every one of Your righteous decrees endures forever.
“Princes pursue and persecute me without cause, but my heart stands in awe of Your words [dreading violation of them far more than the force of prince or potentate].(A)
“I rejoice at Your word as one who finds great spoil.” ~Psalm 119:159-162 (Amplified bible)

Lord, hear the prayer that just left my mouth, mutterings, as well as the clear words. In Jesus' name, I bring all things to You, Amen.

Day 791 of Giving Thanks

LORD, I want to move on... I seem to keep working on the same issues and challenges. Please help me with getting over this one. My heart breaks every time I have to deal with it. Show me what to do, let me see how to handle it so I can move past it.

“[Earthly and heavenly treasures] “Stop collecting treasures for your own benefit on earth, where moth and rust eat them and where thieves break in and steal them. Instead, collect treasures for yourselves in heaven, where moth and rust don’t eat them and where thieves don’t break in and steal them. Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:19-21 (Common English Bible)

What earthly possessions have become our idols, was less of a questions for me. For me, it was more of the earthly emotions that were my idols... the feelings of defeat, despair, hopelessness and aloneness... These are all things we hang on to, that the world is responsible for delivering.

Just my thoughts the other morning, and digging deep so I can recognize all that God will reveal – recognize what I am holding onto materially as well.

In this week of removing the emotional hazards from my heart through changing how I think, I have encountered some interesting tests. God has done an amazing transformation in me, I now ‘get completely’ that I am His, I am favored and I am being changed. I believe that I cannot be sure something is removed, unless I have experienced it. This week I experienced a new emotion, one that has not surfaced through all the pain or disappointment. I have never wrestled with anger. A few days ago, I saw anger in me for the first time that rattled me. Not just anger, but ANGER. There was a moment of uncontrollable and unrelenting emotions. None like I had ever felt before. It was like every hurt, every pain and every hateful mutterings I ever heard flooded right into my heart and stabbed it over and over. It was true physical pain.

Lord, I thank You for showing me that anger is truly something to be given to You. When I "don't understand" or have "no empathy" for someone else dealing with an emotion that "takes over", let me be kind, loving and prayerful for them. Let me lift them greatly. Let it be an instant reflex to pray if I am ever the target of anger that deep. Let me seek You, forgive and lift them. In the mighty name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

I am learning more every day, not only about me, but about seeing those around me. Live not in a constant state of making a determination of where others have been, based on what you see. Encourage them in their walk and get to know them, and love and encourage them even more. We cannot know what places God has taken them, or what He has revealed to them in full.

I find that I am the worst when it comes to “coming to conclusions” about where others are in their faith. I am learning that I cannot make that determination. But I can relate, communicate and encourage others in their faith without passing a judgment or concluding what they need, or where they have been.

What are our differences? Do they really matter?

More learning, as my head is spinning from this week of growth. It's ok to "agree to disagree" and move on. Don't fuss over things that everyone has differing opinions and conclusions on anyway. Respect the person and go on about your walk with the LORD. Be light shining. Now, with this said, I am talking about believer to believer.

Lord, thank You for Your word and directions to improve.

‎Be encouraged if you are encouraging others, it's not the number of friends you have, or “likes” you receive on Facebook, it's the number of eyes to see and ears to hear that GOD orchestrates that counts. We will not see all that is planted, sown and harvested around and about. (Hebrews 11:1, Isaiah 61:11)

Lord, thank You for all the “learning” I get to do daily. Thank You that I can change because of You in me. Thank You for opportunities daily to be drawn closer to You and Your purpose for my life. Simply, God, thank You.

Day 790 of Giving Thanks Daily

As I muttered the words, “Lord, please take this...” I instantly knew that it was already requested and my prayer was answered. He takes all that we cannot handle, and thankfully, lets us keep what will help us grow in faith and wisdom.

God wants you to grow in faith. You will be tested and retested because He loves you, and when you begin to trust Him, you will grow and transform. Believe that He will bring you through every test when you believe that you can trust Him.

“And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” ~Philippians 4:19 (Lexham English Bible)

Although it is tough right in the middle of a storm, cleaning up can be a bit of work too - especially if I didn't storm proof my heart and mind. It is God's promises, only revealed through His Word that can provide the protection and restoration needed for any, and all storms, before and after.

“Have faith in God,” Jesus answered. “Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.  And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.” ~Mark 11:22-26 (New International Version) see also, Matthew 6:15 and James 2:14-18.

Pressure can come from all directions, in all forms, all sized and in ways unthinkable... put on your God thoughts today and allow God to push it all back, and you just rest in the knowledge of His perfect covering for your life.

When we stop pushing through and press in to Him, we can see Him relieving all the pressure that comes at us.

The enemy is in full swing, not just today, but every day. Just make sure you are throwing your best fastball, curve ball, change up and slider completely powered by the Holy Spirit.

We already know the outcome, but we are still in the game, and we cannot play well without being well prepared and equipped. So everyday be grateful for your circumstances and know that His hand is upon your life and wrapped firmly around the outcome. Stay in His will, give God thanks and trust the leading of the Holy Spirit.

“I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all men—the testimony given in its proper time. ~1 Timothy 2:1-6 (New International Version)

Day of 788 of Giving Thanks by Tina Wetor

Sometimes when I look back on my life, I am amazed how far God has brought me.  As a child who was completely withdrawn, quiet, and fearful I wouldn’t allow anyone to get to close.   It was too painful to be rejected again, so I would hide from the world.  Life is precious, too precious to hide from it.  Also, we will never experience the ability to love someone if we are alone.
Love changes everyone who encounters its riches, it changes your life.  Our greatest need is to be loved, to feel we belong, and accepted.  What’s so heartbreaking, so many people will go to dangerous extremes to be loved.  Whether it’s sex, drugs, or become a workaholic so many people are driven to find a place to belong.  If it wasn’t for God, I wouldn’t be here.  He hasn’t only changed my life; He placed a song in my heart.  My life truly has been transformed through the simplest truth -God loves me.  As I have expected this truth, I have learned my behaviors, beliefs, and life would be changed.
What we need to understand, God does love us.  Absolutely nothing will change this fact; we can rest assured of it.  Although God desires for us to be holy, so through His love we are changed from glory to glory.  We will be changed by God’s love; it’s most wonderful miracle of all because it heals.  God’s love can heal us; it can heal the deepest scars.  Pain isn’t pleasant to experience in life; it surfaces to make us recognize there is an issue to address. We can’t heal our souls if we don’t acknowledge the hurt, ignoring it will only prolong the problem.  When we ignore the problem, we either isolate ourselves or we lash out towards others.  We don’t want anyone to discover our pain, so we hide to avoid the shame.
As the pain surfaces with the nailed scared hands of Christ, we feel as if He hates us.  He is completely displeased with us, so we must suffer for our sinful nature.  We tell ourselves we deserve to be punished, so we get a very distorted image of who God really is.  It’s only through healing; we learn the pain didn’t destroy us.  One day, we will be able to walk in confidence of God’s love with our head held up.  On this beautiful day, we realize the scars didn’t keep us down, we overcome them.  We are more than a conquer through Christ; He paid it all for our freedom.  God’s love brings confidence, healing, and life.
Life is too precious to hide, I am going to dance.  I choose to laugh, smile, and love others so they can discover this simple but powerful truth-God loves them. Psalm 118:5-“In my anguish I cried to the Lord, and he answered me by setting me free.”

Day 787 Giving Thanks

There is evil and evil doing all around us and that wants us to join in. Without the Holy Spirit, we too are evil, not having the ability to see God, worship Him or know His ways. Lord we pray for strength to come to You. We pray for courage to let go of our worldly ways, and come wholly and completely into You presence, to trust Your way, seek and live the truth. Knowing Your truth comes through reading, living and sharing the Word in the strength of the Holy Spirit I want to do this LORD, I want to be Yours wholly and completely. Let me find what You desire for me. Let me hear all that You have. Let me live as You planned for me. Amen.

"Hear this, all you peoples; listen, all who live in this world, both low and high, rich and poor alike: My mouth will speak words of wisdom; the meditation of my heart will give you understanding. I will turn my ear to a proverb; with the harp I will expound my riddle:" Psalm 49:1-4 (New International Version)

LORD, reveal to us, what we are adding to our faith, that was added by man for convenience.

It's time to be renewed in faith. Take Him at His word - trust that His word alone is enough. Lord, I pray for discernment today. I pray that all through my day, I will be directed perfectly by the Holy Spirit and that my flesh will follow. I pray that as I go right or left, it is Your voice that I hear for the right turn. I pray for strength to do "right" as You bring me through toward perfection. Let it be a day of prayer and seeking in Jesus' name. Amen.

LORD, I want to move on... I seem to keep working on the same issues and challenges. Please help me with getting over this one. My heart breaks every time I have to deal with it. Show me what to do, let me see how to handle it so I can move past it.

So, what is the lesson? I have to remember that I see someone else's life in pieces or snapshots of its entirety and can jump to the wrong conclusions in an instant. I cannot see the entire picture... when I am prompted to judge them or even their circumstances, I must stop. Lord, help me with this for it is so easy to pass judgment and so hard to stop. We are on our own "God journey" and see things so differently. Let us revel in our uniqueness and love through our sameness.

I am really stuck in Romans 14 this week... Anyone else want to join me here? “So then, let us pursue what promotes peace and what edifies one another. Do not destroy the work of God on account of food. All things are clean, but it is wrong for the person who eats and stumbles in the process. It is good not to eat meat or to drink wine or to do anything by which your brother stumbles or is offended or is weakened. The faith that you have, have with respect to yourself before God. “Blessed is the one who does not pass judgment on himself by what he approves. But the one who doubts is condemned if he eats, because he does not do so from faith, and everything that is not from faith is sin.”  ~Romans 14:19-23 (Lexham English Bible)

Every day we are confronted with people, comments, challenges, issues and things we don’t like, both by the world and our brothers and sisters in Christ… Love is the most important thing, and what I have seen (personal experience) is that the more we complain and contemplate how things should be, the more we see wrong. And, the more we see wrong, the more we become disheartened.

“This is a test”, popped up on my screen, and I thought, “Everything is a test”. Help me LORD, do what is right, let me treat others rightly, in love and kindness.

I am learning that I have to be the change, not just the critic. We are the church. We are the children of God. We are the change with the power and strength of the Holy Spirit.

I pray I will change every day.

Lord, there is much I want to change, much I want to learn and much that I am blessed with. And, there is so much that I want to know about You. Thank You that through who I am with You, all is possible, I will change much, learn much, be blessed much and see You much in my life.

“But as it is written: ‘Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love him’. But God has, through the Spirit, let us share his secret.
“For nothing is hidden from the Spirit, not even the deep wisdom of God. For who could really understand a man’s inmost thoughts except the spirit of the man himself? How much less could anyone understand the thoughts of God except the very Spirit of God? And the marvelous thing is this, that we now receive not the spirit of the world but the Spirit of God himself, so that we can actually understand something of God’s generosity towards us.” ~1 Corinthians 2:9 J.B. (Phillips New Testament)

Yesterday was a revealing study. Let it be revealing every day LORD, let the revelations of You be the change in all of us.

Church, that's us... let us keep alert, pray and praise through all our circumstances, let us hear Him, seek truth, dismiss false teachings and ask for discernment to know His truth. This we will know through the work of the Holy Spirit within us. Church, that's us... let us hear.

"Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. The one who is victorious will not be hurt at all by the second death." ~Revelation 2:7 (New International Version)

"Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who is victorious, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give that person a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to the one who receives it." ~Revelation 2:17 (New International Version)

"To the one who is victorious and does my will to the end, I will give authority over the nations— that one ‘will rule them with an iron scepter and will dash them to pieces like pottery’—just as I have received authority from my Father. I will also give that one the morning star. Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches." ~Revelation 2:26-29 (New International Version)

Church, that's us, persevere, be diligent in your faith, seeking the truth and pray without ceasing in all things.

As I read this today, I thought of the virgins and the lamp oil. How many will not be prepared, sleeping, following the wrong "thing" at the time He comes?

"The wise ones, however, took oil in jars along with their lamps." ~Matthew 25:4 (New International Version)

“But while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived. The virgins who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. And the door was shut.
“Later the others also came. ‘Lord, Lord,’ they said, ‘open the door for us!’
“But he replied, ‘Truly I tell you, I don’t know you.’
“Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour." ~Matthew 25:10-13 (New International Version)

Day 786 of Giving Thanks

The greatest lover of "you" you will ever know died and lives for you. Thank You Jesus for loving me so. LORD, reveal to me, what I am adding to my faith, that was added by man for convenience. Help me to remove all the things that are not Yours, and should not be mine. Today and every day is a time to be renewed in faith. To take Him at His word - trust that His word alone is enough.

Amen.

Thank You LORD for being with me today. Thank You for knowing my every insecurity, doubt, fear, anxiety and need. As I pray, I know that I can bare my soul, pour my heart out, cry to exhaustion and it all matters to You.

Everything matters to my mighty and amazing God. I am important. You are important. Manifest in me LORD a feast of wonderful wisdom.

‎"To the one who is victorious and does my will to the end, I will give authority over the nations—that one ‘will rule them with an iron scepter and will dash them to pieces like pottery’ [Psalm 2:9]—just as I have received authority from my Father. I will also give that one the morning star. Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches." ~Revelation 2:26-29 (New International Version)

"You will break them with a rod of iron [Or will rule them with an iron scepter (see Septuagint and Syriac)]; you will dash them to pieces like pottery.”~Psalm 2:9 (New International Version)

Brothers and sisters, we must remember this as we walk on this journey. We will have hardships, pain, sorrow, trials and circumstances we do not like or even hate, but we have to know the big picture. God wins. And, if you have chosen Him (are His), there is nothing to fear or worry about. Every time something gets tough, rough or seems impossible, take your thoughts back to what He did so that your eternity will be one of peace and certainty. Life is hard, no one, especially God or Jesus, said we'd become saved and live a charmed life here on earth. But our character and habits here will determine where our hearts are. THAT IS HOW WE PREPARE.

Would love your thoughts - how are you preparing? How are you sharing hope with others? It is through doom and gloom or through the grace, mercy and hope of eternity with our Creator?

There are only two choices, with God, without God. Can we encourage through condemnation? What do we draw from, and is it drawing other toward God?

It can be a dark place when we don't know God, and sinking lower occurs when you dismiss His existence. Allow the light in.

When we are broken, in need of repair and He will repair, restore and renew all parts of you.

Day 785 of Giving Thanks

Again, I say, "Yes LORD... lead me."

In every lesson, in every way, through my life, I am to live expectantly.

I had the most amazing start to my day reading and sitting with my LORD, followed by a wonderful time of prayer with a friend. In my many moments today, I was brought back to my amazing start, and that amazing start comes only because He is my everything in my life. Every day I am to remember that I see things from earthly eyes and ask to put my God eyes on as I look around me.

“And the Ever-living One [I am living in the eternity of the eternities]. I died, but see, I am alive forevermore; and I possess the keys of death and Hades (the realm of the dead).” ~Revelation 1:18 (Amplified Bible)

I love how God themes my lessons... and wraps them in His loving and tender Word.

"I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, says the Lord God, He Who is and Who was and Who is to come, the Almighty (the Ruler of all)." Revelation 1:8 (Amplified Bible)

There is nothing else more important than knowing, believing and revering this truth. He is the living one. He was dead, now lives and holds the keys to life and death.
God cures all ailments, especially our disobedience, our fear, our doubts and our past. And during the day, I came to realize that I cannot let others break my Spirit… I must remember who that Spirit inside me truly is, and stand confidently on in that knowledge.

““Arise and attack a nation at ease, which lives in confidence,” declares the LORD, “a nation that has neither gates nor bars; its people live far from danger." ~Jeremiah 49:31 (New International Version)

In every lesson, in every way, through my life, I am to live expectantly.

The only grace we can expect is the grace that God extends, and the grace we extend ourselves. Allow yourself to be let off the hook personally, even when other do not appear to let you off the hook. Every day, dwell on His grace... completely repent when needed and give God all of the worry and anxiety associated with feelings that are harmful. Revel in His grace, mercy and tenderness. Again, in every lesson, in every way, through my life, I am to live expectantly.

"Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.”
"When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink." ~Luke 5:5-7 (New International Version)

"you will catch men..." verse 10

With Jesus, I never know what the nets will bring in... I am praying today that as all my nets are cast, I remember who I serve.
