Do you ever stare at a sink full of dishes and wish that they would clean themselves? As embarrassing as it is to say this, I think I have even prayed that God would make the dishes miraculously clean themselves. That’s a prayer that He has yet to answer.
Yet, as I think about it, life is that way sometimes. Life is full of mundane tasks, boring, dirty, “unfulfilling”. It is full of tasks and things that we wish would just do themselves. Yet, these little mundane things have to get done. What would happen if we never had clean dishes? What would we eat on? We need clean dishes in our lives. These are the small details that, if not completed, can affect a lot more than we realize.
“In the eleventh year in the month of Bul, the eighth month, the temple was finished in all its details according to its specifications. He had spent seven years building it.” ~1 Kings 6:38 New International Version
““All this,” David said, “I have in writing as a result of the LORD’s hand on me, and he enabled me to understand all the details of the plan.”~ 1 Chronicles 28:19 New International Version
God is a God of details. EVERY little thing matters to God, every little small minute detail matters to Him, even the most mundane and dull tasks are important to Him. Even the dishes.
Next time you look upon a sink full of dirty dishes, look at it as an opportunity to praise God. Turn on your worship music and sing to Him as you wash. Be thankful that you have running water to use and dishes to eat off of. Thank Him for the blessings you have rather than concentrating on the task you hate doing the most.
Lord, thank you for my dishes. Thank you for providing me one more opportunity to praise your name. Lord, thank you for showing me that every little detail matters to you and obeying you is what is important. Lord, help me get my sink full of dishes clean with a warm and loving heart!!! Thank you Lord, for your faithfulness and for your blessings! Amen!
